CM PRESS # 505

CANDIDATE MEET AND GREET

Wednesday--10/8/08--All nine City Council candidates showed up tonight for the meet and greet put on by the Mesa North Community Association.

Association president Colin McCarthy and the rest of the board ran a tight meeting that allowed each candidate to speak for a few minutes about why they wanted to be elected.

Each candidate pretty much gave the bullet points of their positions shown on their campaign fliers and then mingled with the crowd.

The CM PRESS was struck by how Jim Righeimer, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever are coalescing as an informal slate.

In fact, Jim Righeimer's campaign handed out a come one, come all invitation to a free BBQ rally to be held Sunday, November 2nd, starting at noon, at the Lindbergh School Park, 23rd St. and Orange Ave.

What caught our attention about this invitation was this line on the flier:

WHAT: A FUN DAY FOR THE FAMILY AND A CHANCE TO MEET CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES JIM RIGHEIMER, GARY MONAHAN AND ERIC BEVER.
