ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER CANDIDATE FORUM

The Eastside Costa Mesa Neighbor's Group held it's Costa Mesa City Council candidate forum last night in the Downtown Community Center. LINK to the group.

You can see a replay of the forum on CMTV-24.LINK And, here's the almost daily Daily Pilot's take on the forum. LINK
The entire forum was devoted to Eastside traffic problems, which all begin with the SR-55 ending near 19th Street instead of ending at Industrial Way.
Here, in the order in which they first answered, is the gist of each candidate's ideas on what to do to improve the traffic problems of the Eastside, along with our comments in [].

Foley: Cut and cover is a long term proposition. In the interim, we need to calm traffic on the Eastside with cul-de-sacs and similar approaches. [Foley's emphasis on cul-de-sacs appeared to be the least popular answer of the evening, judging by the audience reaction and a slam from Gary Monahan against this idea when he had a chance to answer the question.]

Sneen: Cut and cover. Also for cul-de-sacs and speed bumps. Said that it was a "complex subject." [No, it's not. It's a simple subject. The friggin' 55 ends about a mile short of where it should end and it should be put underground. End of problem.]

Bever: Cut and cover.

Monahan: Cut and cover. [Gave the best and most detailed answers of any candidate. Said that Foley's ideas about cul-de-sacs and similar approaches were considered in the '90's and were unpopular with Eastsiders. Monahan said that at the present time he can drive from his Eastside home to his Eastside business in about two minutes, but with cul-de-sacs, etc. it would take him ten minutes. Monahan also said that Foley's recent negative comments against the OCTA in the Daily Pilot aren't helping get that body on our side with the cut and cover idea.]

McEvoy: Route more traffic to Irvine Avenue.
Bunyan: Banning Ranch will add more traffic. Said Monahan should ride a bike to work.

Reedy: Agreed with Foley about cul-de-sacs. [She then launched into a silly spiel about people getting together to talk about the issue. Good grief! Reedy, people have been talking about this since 1992 when the 55 came to the middle of our downtown. Some of our voters this year were only 2-years-old when we began talking about this. Reedy gave the worst answer of any candidate. In fact, her whole campaign sounds like a grade school teacher saying: "Now, children can't we all get along? Let's just talk and everything will be fine. Okay, children, time for a group hug." Folks, we don't need more talk among uninformed people. We need action. ]
Righeimer: Cut and cover. Righeimer thinks the cut and cover approach is possible in about five years, if it is handled correctly. [On this question, and all others, Righeimer gave crisp, succinct, direct answers. Righeimer cut through the BS and didn't dance around with throat clearing babble. We think he'd bring some much needed expertise and desirable personal characteristics to the City Council.]
Moss: No cul-de-sacs.

800 ILLEGAL ALIENS BOOTED OUT OF COSTA MESA? ADD 111 MORE TO THE TOTAL
As we previously reported, the number of illegal aliens with ICE holds in the Costa Mesa jail have fallen off from last year.
The CMPD explained that the lower numbers are because more arrestees in Costa Mesa are being taken to the Orange County Jail before they are interviewed by the ICE agent in the Costa Mesa Jail.
We then asked the Sheriff's Department how many Costa Mesa arrestees have had ICE holds put on them in the Orange County Jail.
The answer, according to an email we received today, is that "since the inception of the program on 1/19/2007 until 9/30/2008 there have been 111 ICE detainers placed on inmates booked into the Orange County Jail by the Costa Mesa Police Department."

Add those 111 to the 800 + that the ICE agent in the Costa Mesa Jail has nabbed and we're close to a 1,000.
In other words, we're close to booting a thousand criminals from our city.

This is no thanks to Flopsy Katrina Foley and the local wine and cheese lefties.
You can thank Allan Mansoor, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever for getting these criminals out of Costa Mesa.
And, remember, when you go to the polls you'll have a very clear choice in Costa Mesa this year.
If you put Jim Righeimer, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever on the new City Council, you can expect even more criminals to be removed from Costa Mesa.

They don't just talk the talk. They walk the walk. (Unlike Flopsy Foley who pretends to be tough on crime but who votes against measures to reduce crime).

COP KILLING ILLEGAL ALIENS
(The poster above is about an illegal alien who killed a cop in Denver and wounded his partner)

We're going to start publishing more and more names of cops who have been killed by illegal aliens who liberals have allowed to run loose to kill cops.

Let's see if cops on the streets, who are in danger every time they go to work, support union bosses and politicians who make their jobs more dangerous.

The thing about cops who are killed by illegal aliens is that these killings are preventable. These cops would still be alive if the illegal aliens had been deported.
