ERROR IN THE BARRIO
Mayor Bever, Mayor Pro Tem Mansoor and City Councilperson Wendy Leece have not used their majority status on the Costa Mesa City Council to rid the Westside of its problems. They've done some good things, but they're wasting time.
Maybe we need someone on the Council with gonads. Maybe U-Know-Who will run.
If U-Know-Who runs and wins a seat, here's what he'll do:
1. Immediately push to enact a day worker ordinance based on the one in Orange.
2. Immediately change priorities in City spending so the City can start buying up and thinning out the slum buildings.
3. Immediately make a major push to bring in upscale homes on parts of the Westside Bluffs.
4. Immediately approach major supermarkets and developers and work a sweetheart deal to build a large supermarket on the Westside.
5. Immediately push to have the City stop funding charities that appear, statistically, to be discriminating based on race/ethnicity.
6. Immediately push to split up the over concentration of charities on the Westside.
7. Immediately begin talking to colleges to get one to locate a satellite campus on the Westside.
8. Immediately talk to our national politicians about using part of Camp Pendleton for a new international airport so that JWA can be shrunk.
9. Immediately talk to national and state politicians and others about getting the stupid 55 Freeway underground where the damn thing belongs.
10.Immediately begin the process of cross-training some of our police officers to do ICE work.
11. Immediately change our municipal codes to keep developers and others from keeping vacant properties boarded up for years on end.
12. Immediately start a zero tolerance policy for gangs and violent crime.
If U-Know-Who decides to run, he has promised to tell us first. We'll let you know.
