ELEANOR EGAN ARGUES AGAINST HERSELF AND STEPS ON HER OWN LINES

In her above linked column, Eleanor Egan argues that having a charter doesn't do much for Costa Mesa, and doesn't give our city much freedom from the state, so why even bother to have a charter?

Then, below her own column, Eleanor writes in and comments on her own column and says: "A charter puts in the hands of the City Council all powers not forbidden or limited by the charter itself or by State or Federal law."

Now, to be fair to Eleanor, she does indicate that the above additional write-in comment she made was originally part of her original column but didn't make it into print (presumably because it was taken out by the DP editor).

However, we can see why the write-in part may have been taken out by the editor--the premise of the column was that a charter wouldn't free Costa Mesa from the state, but then this last write-in  "all powers" part says just the opposite. It makes the column logically inconsistent.

When I was studying for the BAR exam, one of the BAR coaches said if you're not clear on how to answer a question on the BAR exam, and two alternate answers pop up in your mind, just write that "there is a difference of opinion," on this issue, and you won't be lying because you have two different opinions.

Apparently Eleanor has two different opinions: The charter won't free us from the state and the charter will free us too much from the state.

"Your honor, my client is not guilty because, and, after that, and, then, and, so therefore (for several paragraphs), (and then ending up with): it is clear that my client is guilty."

GUNMAN KILLS TWO AND HIMSELF AT OREGON MALL
[UPDATE: Killer has been identified as non-White Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22-years-old]

As of this writing, the police and the press haven't identified the shooter and even witnesses who got a close look at him haven't given a racial description of the shooter, or if they have (which is likely) the press is leaving out such a description. Also, the local cops are saying that the shooter just shot anyone in his line of fire and that the shootings were random.

Now, folks, we'll have to wait for more information and a description of the shooter, but when the police and press fail to give a racial description of a suspect, it's usually because he's not White. If he was White, that would be in the headline or near the top of the story.

Also, when a shooter is non-White and shoots and kills Whites and only Whites, the police and press often find no racial hate motive and pretend the shootings were random as is the case in the above linked news report.

So, we'll have to wait until later today to get a description of the shooter and his victims and thus learn whether the establishment followed the PC protocol to hide the truth from you.

We'll try to watch this story and update you no matter which way the chips fall.

Hopefully, improvement minded citizens will apply who understand that improvement means making our city a magnet for upwardly mobile people. We don't need people who just want a stress free, do nothing resume enhancing seat on either of these two commissions.

Every issue, even the smallest and seemingly the most mundane of issues before these two commissions, just as every issue before the City Council, can be seen as:  1. good for improvement; 2. neutral; 3. bad for improvement.

Costa Mesa has turned into a place that attracts illegal aliens, homeless people and criminals not primarily because of major decisions of the City Council, the Planning Commission, or the Parks and Recreation Commission, but on the cumulative effect of many small bad decisions that were often made beneath the radar of most citizens of the city. That must change.

APARTMENT FIRE THIS MORNING AT 655 W. BAKER STREET
[FROM City press release]

At approximately 11:58 AM this morning, the Costa Mesa Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 655 W. Baker Street, Unit W-103, in Costa Mesa.

Fire department personnel arrived on scene within five minutes and reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the first floor of a 2 story apartment complex.  A second alarm was requested immediately due to the rapid spread of the fire and the high potential for loss of life and property. 

Six Engines, Three Trucks, one Light Air Unit and a Three Battalion Chiefs, a total of thirty-six personnel, were needed to control the fire which took approximately 35 minutes.  Automatic aid was provided by the Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley Fire Departments. 

There were no reports of injuries to firefighters or civilians.          

Preliminary fire damage costs to the structure and contents are still being determined.  The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation and being handled by the Costa Mesa Fire Department Arson Investigation Team.

THE COMMENTS FROM THE OPPOSITION ARE GETTING REALLY HILARIOUS OVER IN THE DAILY PILOT

In a letter to the Daily Pilot, Tom Egan writes, in relevant part, "Do we really want to give [the Jim Righeimer-led council] more power [with a charter] to further tear up our low-stress city?"

 "Tear up"? "Low-stress city"?  Odd choice of words.

If Costa Mesa was low-stress before Righeimer and company came on board it was because no one was bucking the long time lefty-charity complex that was doing nothing to improve the Westside or the rest of the city and was simply rolling over and giving most of our tax money to a bloated government and redundant out of town employees.

Oh well, let me answer Tom's question.  Yes, Tom, I, for one, do want to see Righeimer and the other good Councilmembers continue to right-size government and reorder our priorities so we can finally improve the Westside to be the great part of town it should be.

And, I do also want to see them put more money into fixing other parts of Costa Mesa  to stop our slide into being a permanent skid row or new Santa Ana, full of crime and almost nightly gang shootings and similar problems. You betcha. Yup. Uh-huh. That's what I want. No doubt about it. I think a lot of other citizens want the same thing.

And, as our city is improved, our schools will improve.  You know about the schools, don't you Tom?  You were on the school board for a while.  Say, what did you do over there?  The schools don't seem to have improved as a result of your time there.  Did you have a nice non-stressful time on the board, maybe making no waves, just kind of  going along to get along?

Say, Tom, speaking of the schools and the school board, what do you have to say about your pal Katrina Foley who is now on the school board and who has  pulled her kids out of Costa Mesa schools and put them in schools in faraway Newport Beach even though the schools her kids can attend in Costa Mesa are almost within sight of Foley's home?  Any thoughts about that?  How can she properly represent the north part of Costa Mesa on the school board, when she won't even put her kids in the schools in our part of town?

You see, Tom, I bring all this stuff up because it's all connected. Improvement, the schools, the charities, the Westside, our quality of life. All connected.  And, the essential elements in Costa Mesa, as in every other city, are its people.

If a city attracts upwardly mobile people, then everything gets better.  Crime goes down, the schools improve, and the quality of life of stable citizens improves.  It's all connected.  And, to attract upwardly mobile people, you have to start improving the city.  You have to thin out the slums.  You have to stop encouraging the charities that are acting as magnets to attract and retain downwardly mobile people and illegal aliens and you have to do all those other things that make the city attractive to upwardly mobile people.

See, Tom, as I've written before, a City attracts people the way a bar attracts people. If you have a cowboy themed bar, you'll attract cowboys.  If you have a singles themed bar, you'll attract singles.  People gravitate to where they feel comfortable.

Been over to Lions Park, recently, Tom?  Many of the citizens in Costa Mesa can't even use that park or the adjacent library. They're afraid to take their kids there.  It's very low stress for the people who live and hang out in the park because it's near the charities where they can get free food, free medical care, free dental care and much more, but it's very high stress for stable citizens who are the backbone of this city and who pay for the park.

To improve Costa Mesa requires that the city government have the right priorities and not just let the city drift as it has in the past.  There has to be a vision of an improved city and there have to be people with the gumption to make improvement happen.

Yes, Tom, change can be stressful to some people, but we need to change or Costa Mesa won't be the place where you'll want to live. Why, without change the city may not have schools where a school board member will want to enroll her own children. Oh, we're already at that point, aren't we?

Well, Tom, we don't need stress adverse people on the City Council.  We need people there who want to improve this city, who know how to do it, and who have the balls to make it happen.This will mean that they'll have to step on the toes of the lefty-charity complex bosses and their running dogs and assorted others who are improvement obstructionists.

Say, Tom, have you considered taking up knitting?  I hear that's low stress.

Too many people think the charity bosses* are donating their time for free, when they're actually making good money in what are actually businesses except for the fact that the business entity itself can't show a profit.  

Because the business entity itself can't show a profit doesn't mean that those who work for it aren't making good money and getting good benefits and great job security so long as they can keep attracting more clients to use their services.

And, what great businesses they are.  For starters, some people think you're a new Mother Teresa.  Then, you get people--often from Newport Beach--who volunteer their time for free to help you.  And, then these "compassionate" free helpers, who are often pathological altruists, go out and praise you for your work and attack, via newspaper and blog comments, citizens in the community who want to see an improved Costa Mesa.  Meanwhile, you, as a charity boss, get great job security.

The compensation figures below are rounded up and come from the actual  990's (yearly tax forms) of some charities in Costa Mesa that help the homeless and illegal aliens.

From 990 - Jul 1, 2010--June 30, 2011--Here's what the charity bosses made from their charity work:

Charity Boss # 1  made $ 154,000 

Charity Boss # 2: made $ 170,000 

Charity Boss # 3: made $ 128,000

Charity Boss # 4: made $ 120,000

Charity Boss # 5: made $ 111,000 

Charity Boss # 6: made $  68,000 

Those kind of compensation figures can only continue if the charity bosses can keep attracting more clients to their charity businesses (see, it works just like a hamburger stand or any other business).  

If they have fewer clients, the charity bosses won't make as much money, or may even go out of business, so it behooves them to attract ever more needy clients.

Help those in need but don't be a magnet

Folks, the problem we have in Costa Mesa and especially on theWestside near W. 19th Street is that we have too many free services provided in a small area. 

These services naturally attract people who need them, and this causes an over concentration of the homeless and other needy people from all over Orange County in that area.  

Once there, they tend to remain in the area (after all, if you're homeless, you have no home to return to, so you stay near the free food and other services).  This chases away regular families and especially those with young children and is helping keep theWestside downscale and on the verge of being a full scale skid row.

*We define a "charity boss" as someone working for the charity who is in a top executive or other position of responsibility.

ANOTHER ARTICLE ON THE SCHOOL IN WEST VIRGINIA THAT DISCIPLINED A WHITE STUDENT FOR NOT STANDING FOR THE BLACK NATIONAL ANTHEM

Now, the school says kids can sit during the pledge of allegiance, the U.S. national anthem and the Black national anthem if they want to do so.  In other words, the school is trying to be PC but is also putting the Black national anthem (whatever the hell that is) on a par with the pledge of allegiance and the U.S. national anthem.

But, what we really noticed in the article was this reported stupid line in a letter from a White City Councilperson to the school district: ""I'm not trying to be racist...."  When a White starts with that kind of nonsense about not being "racist," they've already lost the argument and have shown that they can be pushed to the back of the bus.

WHAT THE...?  HAVE YOU SEEN TODAY'S EDITION OF THE CURRENT?

The Current, up until today, was a tabloid size toss away, folded into the OC REGISTER once a week that mostly had puff stories.

Today's Current, by contrast, is a full size weekly stand-alone newspaper for Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.  The Current is still folded into the REGISTER but it is twenty pages long and is chock full of ads and has hard news stories about Costa Mesa.

If you ask us, it looks as though The Current is getting serious and wants to take on the DAILY PILOT as the newspaper for Costa Mesa and Newport Beach and may be on its way to being completely independent of the REGISTER, although still owned by the REGISTER (until, maybe, it is parted out and sold for a profit).

KNOW NOTHINGS IN FULL BLOOM OVER AT THE DAILY PILOT

Be sure to read the comments under this goofy article HERE by Perry Valentine that we also wrote about yesterday.

In brief, Valentine whines that Wendy Leece should have been named Mayor Pro Tem, golly gosh, because that would show that the three good Councilmembers wanted to reach out to the opposition.

Then, a guy named Tim Sesler correctly comments that the unions put a whole lot of money into trying to elect people to the City Council and to defeat the charter (a fact), and he said that Valentine seems to be in support of the corrupt system of special interests and that Leece and Genis and some others in the community have probably been quiet on things such as the P.I. following Righeimer, etc. because they benefited from the union efforts.

Next, Geoff West chimes in and says that Sesler "slandered" Valentine and should retract his comments.  As usual, West doesn't know what he's talking about, but that doesn't stop him from writing to show how little he does know.  "Slander" is spoken defamation.  "Libel" is written defamation.  But even had West gotten his words right (well it might happen some day), Sesler didn't do either. Sesler was expressing his opinion about a matter of great public concern involving public figures Leece and Genis, and limited public figure Valentine, who has thrust himself into the controversy.

West is the guy who once used the term schizophrenic to describe a previous City Council when the correct word he should have used for what he was trying to say was schizoid.  When we told him he had used the wrong word, he got red faced and huffed that it was his opinion and that  he can have any opinion he wants. Well, yes, but you should learn the meaning of words. Say, like the difference between slander and libel and schizophrenic and schizoid.  May we suggest a good book?  The dictionary. And, you might even try to understand what these different terms mean before sticking your foot in your mouth.

Wendy Leece also pops up with a really dumb comment laced with phony outrage and once again says that she didn't take a dime of union money.  This is one of Wendy's standard lines. (No one said she did take any union money.) She also writes "No police reports have been filed linking me to anything." (Huh? Who ever said anything like that? That's a totally irrelevant comment from Leece, but  she's totally irrelevant almost all of the time anyway and can't seem to focus on what's important and what's not.)

Ah, Wendy, you really need to learn how to read.  Sesler didn't say you took any union money.  He indicated that you benefited from the union putting all that money into helping you get elected and in defeating the charter.  And, you did benefit.

OC REGISTER STORY ABOUT CRIME RATE CLAIMS IN IRVINE

Summary: The story says that Irvine needs to add asterisks to its claim of being the safest U.S. city.

As with most stories about crime, and violent crime in particular, the above linked story misses the real reasons why some cities are safer than others:  it's racial.

If you have the time and desire, just look up the demographics of the most violent cities and the least violent ones and you'll find that the most violent cities are almost always majority Black and the least violent ones are almost always majority White.

Here's just one example. In the Register story we are told that Fishers, Ind. is the safest U.S. city.

HERE are the demographics of Fishers.  You will note that the city is 85.60% White and only 5.60% Black.

But you goodies and brain dead folk may disagree, why, sputter, sputter the statistics must be racist. Fine.  Please send us the names of cities where what we've written above isn't true.  We'll be happy to publish the names of those cities and their actual statistics.

By the way, have you noticed how fast the Pilot puts up crap columns such as Valentine's but is slow to put up opposing columns?  In fact, Valentine's column went up the very day after the Councilmeeting.

It seems the local lefties have the Daily Pilot in their pocket.

You may recall from an earlier column in the CM PRESS how we sent over a persuasive column to the Pilot  in favor of the charter, and after that we had to keep emailing the paper asking when it might appear if ever.  And then, when the Pilot apparently got tired of us asking, they cut our signed column down to a lousy two paragraphs, changed it to a letter, and buried it the letters section under a lead letter with a bold headline that made it look as though all letters that day were about bicycle safety.

She just drove into her neighborhood gas station to get some gas. Now, her family is left without a wife and mother and probably a grandmother.  Is this your America?  It's not ours.

You'll see a photo of the Black shooter in the above linked article, but you'll find no photo or description of his victim in any of the news reports.  We checked about thirty other newspapers and TV news reports and could find not a single word telling the world that the murdered woman was White. This is typical when an innocent White person is murdered by a Black.

So, how does the CM PRESS know the victim was White?  We got it from the official police report (HERE)--that was also available to every news outlet (but they didn't put this important fact in their stories).

Know the reality of our world, folks, and you and yours will be safer.  Go along with the PC crap of this present Dark Age and you may be the next victim.

 And, speaking of schools that are turning into slum schools, why has Katrina Foley, who lives in Mesa del Mar, within easy walking distance of Costa Mesa High School and Davis Middle School, and who represents the north part of Costa Mesa on the NMUSD, reportedly pulled her kids out of Costa Mesa schools and put them in school in Newport Beach?

JIM RIGHEIMER NAMED MAYOR/STEVE MENSINGER MAYOR PRO TEM

Last night, Wendy Leece begged to be named Mayor, and newly seated Sandy Genis came across as sour and bitter.

Then, the regular supporters of Leece and Genis slimed their way to the podium to say the usual stupid things about how they wanted to end the polarization and  how we needed unity and  blah, blah, blah. What they meant was that they wanted to have their way.  We half expected someone to say "can't we all just get along."

Folks, our political system is not set up to be an old ladies knitting circle where everyone smiles and agrees on everything in order to get invited back with the ladies the following week.

And to get the complete unity that some of the neurotics claim to want, we would have to have a one person City Council.

Politics is a battle over ideas. It is not a group hug. We elect five people, and hopefully the five people we elect have brains, ideas and a vision for the City and aren't just seeking election to bake cookies and smile a lot.

Leece would be bad as Mayor, just as she has proven herself to be bad as a Councilperson.

We need people who will take on the unpopular job of getting our City back on track even if this steps on a few toes.

We believe that Wendy Leece is psychologically and intellectually  incapable of being that person.  Why, even in her earlier comments last night, Wendy showed how out of touch she is as she once again puffed several of the charities that serve illegal aliens on the Westside.

Council to puff these charities.

With one breath she'll heap praise on them, and then in her next breath she'll say she wants to improve the Westside.   Folks, that's like pouring sand in the gas tank of your car while saying you want your car to run better. She seems incapable of seeing cause and effect.

The CM PRESS believes that the majority of Righeimer, Mensinger and Monahan will now act to quickly help improve the Westside and all of Costa Mesa in ways that will make this the great City it should be.

And, just to help things along, the CM PRESS will be constantly suggesting that they stay on track by following the Westside Plans.

We live in a cause and effect universe.  Three votes on the Council provide the cause of the effects we see around us every day in Costa Mesa. If the effects are bad, you can blame the Council, if they are good, you can praise the Council.

When you praise charities that help illegal aliens, such as Wendy Leece constantly does, you should not be surprised to find more illegal aliens moving to the Westside, and as a result you should not be surprised to see a higher crime rate, buildings being turned into slums, social dysfunction and failing schools.

Things are as they are for reasons.  They are as they are because of what the Council does or does not do.

One speaker last night, who was in support of Righeimer and Mensinger, correctly pointed out that in recent years, Costa Mesa has only been spending about 2  percent of our revenues on infrastructure, while most cities spend more than 18 percent.

He pointed out that under the leadership of the majority on the Council that came in with Righeimer and Mensinger in the last few years, this has now started to change and we are starting to spend on improving our City.

This speaker was right, and now with the same majority in control--albeit reduced to three with the election of Genis, who seemed to want to pick a fight last night and who set a very negative tone against the majority--we can expect to see many more improvements to Costa Mesa.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT

Agenda HERE.

Will newly elected Sandra Genis start trying to derail improvement or will she work to bring in the physical improvements that are so needed in Costa Mesa?  Tonight may be too soon to tell, but we may get some inkling of her mindset as the night progresses.

Here's the nub of the matter for many Improvers.  We like keeping as much open space in the City as possible, so we don't want to see over development.  We think Genis is on board with this.

However, many Improvers want to go further and want to see the slum buildings thinned out and be replaced either with more parks or even additional parking or with more upscale and modern housing.  Wendy Leece is not on board with this and fights this.  Will Genis go along with Wendy in some sort of Sisterhood is Powerful false thinking, or will she realize that we must rid the City of slums which are the habitats of a criminal element and which are helping keep the City downscale?

One thing we wonder about is whether Genis, who has spent most of her life here in Costa Mesa, can  see that the same buildings that were here when she was a little girl, and which weren't then overcrowded slums, are now overcrowded slums and that they can never be restored to what they were when she was a child.  This is similar to not being able to see that the grass is growing unless you first go away for a while and then come back.

As Genis drives around Shalimar or Mission/Mendoza or Fillmore/Coolidge or the similar neighborhood off of Wilson Street, will she see them as being just as they were when she was a child and thus not a problem, or will she be able to see them as many Improvers see them: as functionally obsolete slums that can no longer attract upwardly mobile citizens?

What was, 40 years ago, is no longer as it was. The slums need to be removed, and this will lower our crime rate and our social dysfunction rate and improve the quality of our schools.

Ho hum.

Meanwhile, HERE'S an article about the New York Times now cutting back.  We could link to other sources about many, many newspapers  cutting back or going out of business, but you already know that's happening, so there's no sense in piling on.

So, what do the new owners of the OC REGISTER know that others don't know that makes them think they can make money (that's why one is in business) by plumping up the staff at the paper?

Well, our spidey sense tells us that it's not really that they believe that subscribers will pay more for quality (please!), but that the newspaper as a business will be worth more on the market if it looks successful.

But, that's just our guess and time will tell.

57TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY ROSA PARKS REFUSED TO GIVE UP HER BUS SEAT

Lessons that are often forgotten:

1.  A government that is supported with the taxes of all citizens should treat all of those citizens the same.

Today, Blacks and other non-Whites are still not being treated the same; they're now being treated better with programs such as affirmative action.  So, we're back to the pre-Rosa Parks days but it is Whites who are now sent to the rear of the bus.

2. When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, many Blacks thought she was wrong and they opposed what she had done.  Why?  They had been conditioned to accept things as they were.

Today, it is Whites who think other Whites are wrong to call for things such as a White Congressional Caucus and other White organizations to promote White interests. Why?  They have been conditioned to accept things as they are.

3.  In a truly free society, the individual is not forced to mix with others for any reason that one chooses and one is also not forced to not mix with others.

4.  Every individual  member of a distinct people has the right to self-identification, self-autonomy and self-determination and has the right to act in ways that are in his or her self and group interest as a member of that distinct people so long as he or she does not harm others.

WALL STREET JOURNAL TACKLES ANTI-WHITE BIGOTRY

The hatred of Whites is starting to be noticed by establishment types who still seem to be conflicted.

On the one hand they want to hide non-White on White hate crimes--which have become pandemic--but on the other hand, the hatred and attacks are so frequent, and so well reported on the Internet, that one risks being called out of touch if one doesn't at least give a nod to the situation as the WSJ has done.

STUDY SHOWS SURGE OF BAD GENES IN PEOPLE OF EUROPEAN DESCENT

The correct title of the above linked article should have been this phrase that is in the first paragraph of the article: PEOPLE OF EUROPEAN DESCENT ARE EVOLVING FAST.

That's what is really going on. The bad genes--really, the mutation of existing genes in such a way that is not beneficial--are just a product of that fast evolution, and so are any good genes that may be mutating.

White people seem to have more plasticity in their DNA codes than other peoples, and maybe science will confirm this at some point.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  Look around you at White people and you'll see tremendous diversity. Black hair, brown hair, red hair, blond hair. Light blue eyes, dark blue eyes, green eyes, hazel eyes, dark brown eyes.

You don't see such variety in other races.

Nature constantly tinkers with the genetic code on a trial and error basis and it may, as the above article seems to indicate, tinker more with the genetic code of White people than the genetic code of other peoples, so it should be expected that Whites may have more mutations and that not all of them will be beneficial.  

You may recall an  article we linked to some time ago that summarized research that indicated that White people's heads are getting larger; and it seems to be happening very, very  fast--with the changes happening in just a few decades. Damn it, Jim, in evolutionary terms, that's warp speed.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT TUESDAY'S CITY COUNCIL MEETING?

There will be a series of motions that will go roughly like this: Wendy Leece will nominate Sandy Genis for Mayor. Then  Genis will nominate Wendy for Mayor.  Then Wendy will nominate Genis for Mayor Pro Tem.  And, Genis will nominate Wendy for Mayor Pro Tem.

Hopefully, the three good Councilmembers won't be all squishy and go along with any of the above and will put Jim Righeimer in as Mayor and Steve Menisnger in as Mayor Pro Tem.

The danger is that one or more of  the three good Councilmembers will try to prove that they're friends with all the people who have been smearing them, either because they're just tired of being criticized, or because they think they can win over the hearts and minds of the haters and bigots by putting Genis in as Mayor Pro Tem.  That will be a BIG MISTAKE if it happens.
