NEW DISCOVERY MAY LEAD TO CURE FOR ALZHEIMER'S

Although this article primarily deals with a specific protein and a very narrow discovery, an important thing to note is the off handed and sparse comments about genes being turned on and off.

It is the DNA and genes that are the most important part of all organisms and it is the "simple" on/off switches that control the chemical factories in our cells that can help us or harm us.  In this regard, the on/off switches and the genes they are turning on or off usually work extremely fast--thousands or millionths of a second in many cases.

As we briefly discussed in an earlier column, at least some of the switches can be controlled by our conscious and unconscious minds, our emotions and our attitudes.   Again, this speaks to the power of positive (and negative thinking) as these relate to our health and also to the power of DNA, genes, and the on/off switches that turn genes on and off  in our cells.  When the genes are turned on or off they produce or stop producing  certain chemicals in our cells. These chemicals, in turn, can make us sick or well.

Mind over matter is not an expression always wedded to voodoo science.  It is a simple way of saying that what you think, and what attitudes you have, can affect you by having your genes turn on or off and produce or not produce various chemicals in your cells that can make you sick or well.

Understanding the  chemical nature of this process also takes this talk of positive and negative thinking out of the realm of the ubiquitous feel good  books on such thinking and puts it squarely in the realm of real science and the real effects caused by real chemicals.

Costa Mesa's Haters and the Power of Negative Thinking

So, with the above in mind, it should be no mystery why so many of the haters in Costa Mesa  seem to be afflicted with various medically related mental or physical problems.   One might call it karma, but it's more likely that they may be the victims of their own power of negative thinking. 

Frankly, it wouldn't surprise us if someone started a grim reaper pool and took bets on when some of the haters (or those who are close to them in their negative thinking orbs) will keel over from natural causes.

HERE's the report from the CMPD on the Internet--that the CM PRESS and the DAILY PILOT got.  Go down to the last sentence of the third paragraph of this report and you'll read: 

"The male suspects were described as African Americans in their mid-20’s, 5-8” to 6-2”, and having medium builds." 

So, we ask again:  Why didn't the Daily Pilot want you to know that the attackers are Black?

Don't you think crime prevention and perhaps the arrest of these punks might be helped if readers had such a description?  Wouldn't you and your kids be safer if you had some idea of who might present a danger to you and them?

From the CMPD PRESS RELEASE:  The two victims (21 and 24 years old) were seated on a bus bench outside of The Triangle on Sunday night when three Blacks approached them, sprayed them with pepper spray and stole cell phones and other items.

The race of the victims was not given in the CMPD press release.  This is usually a sign that they are White.

The Black punks have not been caught.  Will you be the next victim?  Will one of your loved ones be the next victim?  The issue is not that we don't have enough police officers, but that we need to improve the demographics of Costa Mesa.

The Westside is becoming less and less of a no-go ghetto, and if we don't elect any more liberals to the City Council such as Wendy Leece, it will continue to improve.

What you may miss in the above linked column is the fact that DNA programs, via genes (some dormant), can respond to the environment (both internally and externally) to help the organism survive.  So, one might put it this way:  When genes come up against a wall, they find a way to go through it, over it, around it, under it,or to somehow adapt to the wall so that they and the organism they are in survive.

Related: Experiments have been done with E. coli bacteria--which mainly consume glucose.  When both lactose and glucose are present, the E. coli won't touch the lactose.  However, when the glucose is removed, there is a short period in which the bacteria won't eat, but then they'll start consuming the lactose in order to survive.  The experimenters suggest that what is going on is that the E. coli have dormant genes that can digest lactose, and that these dormant genes switch on when only lactose is present.

A basic principle revealed? All  organisms have dormant genes and many of them may be part of that so-called "junk DNA" that doesn't seem to do anything.  The way genes work is via "on/off" switches.  Dormant genes are normally switched off.  But when they are needed for survival they can be switched on.  And, this leads some investigators to suggest that we humans can, under the right circumstances, control the on/off switches, via our brains, not only of some dormant genes but also active ones.

Power of positive thinking?  All of this may speak well of the possibility that positive thinking (also negative thinking) works--on a chemical level--and that our thoughts and our attitudes may switch some genes on or off. And, when genes are switched on or off, they work quickly to produce chemical changes in our bodies that can lead to sickness or health.

Costa Mesa's haters: If the power of positive (and negative) thinking really does work, and we suggest above a way that it may work, then it's no wonder that the negative thinking haters in Costa Mesa are such a sickly looking lot.  We can't think of any one of them who doesn't have something physically (or mentally) wrong with themselves--distended stomachs, weight problems, cancer, bone and joint problems, diabetes, heart problems, neuroses, and on and on.

EUROPEAN-AMERICANS NEED A CAUCUS IN THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE

It was recently announced that State Senator Marty Block, (D-San Diego), started the Legislative Jewish Caucus and that this caucus will also form a political action committee to raise money for Israel-friendly candidates. Block told the press that the Legislative Jewish Caucus "isn't a religious based organization.  We see this as an ethnic organization."  This statement was presumably made to both forestall Muslims from starting a Muslim Legislative Caucus and also to head off complaints that the Legislative Jewish Caucus is breaching the wall between religion and state.

At any rate, the Legislative Jewish Caucus, as an ethnic/racial organization, now joins the  Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Legislative Black Caucus and the Latino Legislative Caucus.

These caucuses work, sometimes behind the scenes and out of public view, to represent the interests of their ethnic/racial  groups.  They write legislation and take other actions on behalf of their particular ethnic/racial groups even though the people they are acting on behalf of may not live in their districts. In other words, unlike the traditional American political notion that people elected to public office represent a specific geographic area, these ethnic caucus members represent "their people," no matter where they live in the state.

An example of what the members of these ethnic/racial caucuses do was presented in the Daily Pilot recently in a story about State Assemblyman Roger Hernandez, a member of the Latino Legislative Caucus, who has authored a bill that would force cities such as Costa Mesa to end city wide voting and replace it with district voting.  District voting is a scheme that will lead to gerrymandered districts in Costa Mesa, in an attempt to include Latino voters in certain districts and exclude White voters from the districts.

On the welcome page of the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus we read this:  "[T]he Caucus was founded in 2001 and serves to represent and advocate for the interests of the APIA community...."

On the Website of the Latino Legislative Caucus we read: "The Mission of the California Latino Legislative Caucus is to identify, promote and advocate on behalf of the professional, educational, social, political and cultural interests of the Latino Community."

And, on the Website of the Legislative Black Caucus we read: "The continuing mission of the CLBC is to provide our unwavering commitment and support to our goal of achieving full inclusion of our state’s Africans American residents in every aspect of California life – from education and employment to housing and health to commerce and government services."

So, there you have it.  Four ethnic/racial organizations all advocating for the interests of their people.  Who advocates for White people?  No one.

Now, some who haven't kept up with the news may say that a White Legislative Caucus isn't needed because Whites are in the majority in the state.  Actually, we're not.  Latinos have ether reached numbers parity or have exceeded the size of the White population.  Some others may argue that Whites are not an ethnicity, but a race, and that we shouldn't lump the various White ethnicities (or people who originated in many different European nations) together under one rubric such as White.  Well, the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus lumps various Asian and Pacific Islander populations together, and the Legislative Black Caucus is based on race.  

I'll ask and answer this question once again:  Who represents Whites and White interests?  No one.

It's time to change that.  Will we now see some White legislators start a White Legislative Caucus?  Probably not.  Why?  Because Whites have been so brow beaten about race that it seems many are even afraid to order a gallon of white paint at the hardware store lest they be called racist.  The result of this racial intimidation that Whites have undergone for years is that Whites are left without any real representation for their particular interests (and we have many) in the state legislature.

Those timid souls who are so brow beaten that they run from the word "white," can simply use the term European-American if it makes them feel more comfortable.

THE LOCAL HATERS THINK THEY CAN CONVINCE CITIZENS THAT UP IS DOWN IF THE HATERS JUST FLOOD THE DAILY PILOT WITH THEIR STUPID COMMENTS

Some of the usual haters want you to believe that the contracts used to rob citizens to pay city employees great salaries and budget busting pensions are fine because they were the product of fair negotiations.

This is a stupid argument and it's insulting that the haters actually believe intelligent citizens would fall for this crap.

Folks, what has been happening for years is that employee unions have put huge amounts of money into electing city council candidates who could be counted on to do the bidding of the unions and these unions have also tried to defeat candidates who wouldn't bend over and grab their ankles.

So, when it came time to negotiate salaries and benefits for the union members, how do you think those council members voted?  Right.  It was a you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back proposition.

However, that kind of crap ended with the seating of Jim Righeimer and Steve Mensinger on the dais.

But the unions and their running dog lefties are still at it and that's why you see all the hate aimed at Righeimer and Mensinger from a small group of nutcakes who are flooding the Daily Pilot with their hate filled comments.

These haters are trying to make up for their sparse numbers by making multiple comments in the Pilot after just about every story that in any way mentions Righeimer or Mensinger.

Be sure to read their comments to see just how few these haters are.  It's a small handful of them, and it's the same names in comment after comment--always complaining and whining and trying to convince you that fiscal responsibility and running the government properly are somehow bad things.

Fortunately, we are starting to see some rational citizens now countering the haters.  Hopefully, these rational citizens will continue with this.

How to sort it all out

If you are confused by the haters (which is what they want) just ask yourself if you think Costa Mesa's government exists to serve you or does it exist to serve the city employees (more than 80% of our employees don't live in Costa Mesa).

If you understand that the government should be serving you and that the employees work for you, it'll help you immunize yourself from the haters and their frequent comments.

City Council members are supposed to be looking out for the citizens of this city.  That is their fiduciary, moral and professional duty. They are not supposed to be giving away the store to employees.  Employees are a means to an end to make this city a great place for the citizens.  However, this simple principle seems to be lost on many people.

The only people who are directly responsible to the citizens of this city are our elected City Council members.  We've elected them (read hired them) to protect our interests and improve our quality of life.  Any city council members who don't do that and who rob you to feather the nests of employees  should be booted out of office.

Employees should be treated fairly, but they should not be running this city.

The ONLY reason we have elected city council members is to do the will of the voters. We did not elect them to do the will of the employees.

Our system is set up so that the citizens of the city aren't supposed to become the ersatz employees of our own employees--the employees are supposed to serve us, not the other way around.  If this were not the case, we wouldn't even have a  city council and we'd just let the employees do whatever they want and disregard the citizens of the city (which is pretty much what they did before the advent of Righeimer and Mensinger).

SOMETHING HAPPENED IN EUROPE ABOUT 5,000 YEARS AGO

What happened was that natural selection started favoring White skin and other White genetic characteristics and Whites started diverging more and more from non-Whites.

And, if Whites avoid gene flow they will continue to evolve along a different path from other types of humans. How do we know this?  Simple. It's how evolution works.
