What you need to know is that DNA is DNA no matter what organism it is found in just as, say, calcium is calcium whether it is in a human or a flea or an apple. This is important to understand because when you are faced with the low I.Q. types who tell you that all humans are the same because we bleed red blood or some other silliness, you can quickly understand how dumb they are.
Nature works with seemingly minor changes here and there to make huge differences in the finished products.
Remember, also, that all life that we know about is descended from that first molecule of DNA that made the leap from non-living minerals to what we call life. And, life is living minerals. *
*Actually, certain viruses rely on RNA instead of DNA for their life processes and the recipe that makes them, them, but the principle is the same. Of course, if we wanted to, we could go back earlier than both DNA and RNA and say we are all descended from such and such chemicals, and...we could go back ever further and say we are all descended from certain sub-atomic particles and we...in other words you can go back further and further seeking the origin of life and then claim that we are all closely related because we all came from the same forces, vibrations and energies that precede matter--but this is really going back too far and is silly as saying that we all bleed red blood so we are all the same.
One can almost imagining one of the low I.Q.types saying "See that pile of dirt in your backyard? You and it are the same, because you are made of the same minerals. Don't be a bigot, that dirt and you are just alike."
