We live in a new Dark Age. Unlike the earlier Dark Ages--when scientists couldn't legally study cadavers, couldn't question the orthodox belief that the Earth was the center of the universe, and where science simply couldn't follow the truth--today, scientists are fearful to discuss race.  We live in sad ignorant times.  But, eventually they will pass and science will once again be able to follow truth no matter where it leads.

BERNIE SOUNDING LIKE TRUMP ON TRADE

I caught a couple of soundbites from Bernie the other day, and he sounded like Donald Trump as he railed against the screwball trade deals we have.

Sometimes, a few on the left are as bright and honest as some on the right.

Oh, and please don't tell me that Trump isn't conservative as the candy ass NeoCons keep saying.  They don't even have a good definition of conservative.  They just use the word.  Most of the NeoCons are Israel Firsters who want to send American kids to die for Israel.

THE BIGGER STUFF...

THE CM PRESS VERY SIMPLE RECIPE FOR REALLY GOOD, REALLY CRUNCHY ONION STRINGS (Modified 3/10/16)

1 cup all purpose flour (more or less doesn't change the recipe)
1/2 cup buttermilk (or make your own: 1T white vinegar or lemon juice to 1 C whole milk or      evaporated milk--wait 5 minutes and use)
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or more)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more) Optional.
1 large sweet onion, very, very thinly sliced (critical-- 1/16 to a max of about 1/8" --A quarter is about 1/16" thick)
Canola oil for deep frying.

Directions

Separate onion slices into rings. Let them soak for at least half an hour in the buttermilk. Combine the flour, salt, pepper an cayenne in another bowl. Heat the oil. Dip the soaked rings in dry batter. Dip part of one battered onion string in the oil, if it sizzles with small bubbles around it, the oil is ready. Fry the onion strings in batches for 1 to 1-1/2 minutes or until golden brown. You can let them bunch up and they still come up crunchy. Drain on paper towels.  Serve immediately or refrigerate.  They should stay crispy in the refrigerator for a week and you can eat them cold or heat them in a microwave.  Use for topping burgers, or if you have a grazer in your home they're good on top of salads.

I've tried other recipes, some with baking powder and other ingredients and some with wet batters and I've tried wider regular onion ring versions; they all came out soggy and limp or lost their crunch very fast.  By contrast, this recipe is the only one I've had consistently good luck with for a tasty and long lasting crunchy result. They're very thin but they taste the way they should taste and have the mouth feel that you want. I make these in a carbon steel wok and they come out perfect.
