Dismantle the charity machine that is working against the stable citizens of Costa Mesa and which is acting as a magnet for homeless people, illegal aliens and those who are turning the Westside into a new skid row.

Putting out full descriptions of criminals sure helps in capturing them.

Someone should tell that to the CMPD.

Our local cops are still looking for two guys who robbed a store with a shotgun, but the cops have only told us what they were wearing.

That's the usual way of handling these things by PC types when the perps are non-white.

The above column gives you an idea of the confusion surrounding the program. 

If you ask us, the program is too expensive and gives minimal results.

If the program is saved, we hope common sense will prevail and less expensive helicopters will be used and the mission of the helicopters is clearly defined as: Eyes in the sky.

We do not need helicopters in Costa Mesa for ocean rescues or for plucking people off mountain ledges or similar things.

The only thing we need helicopters for is...here it is again...to provide an eye in the sky.  And, frankly, given Costa Mesa's size, geography and other factors, we may not even need them for that.
