AMERICA OWES THE PRESIDENCY TO OBAMA? HUH?

A person calling herself Karla Paniagua, no city given, has a letter in the almost daily Daily Pilot today (LINK), in which she writes of Barack Obama: "America owes African Americans this president."

Huh?

Nonsense. The presidency isn't owed to anyone. We need to elect someone who will act in the best interests of all the citizens of this nation.

Paniagua also writes of Obama's lack of experience: "I have heard people talking about the little experience Obama has, but how many of us accepted our first job and had experience?"

What?

So, if a kid wants a job at McDonald's--and especially if he's black--he shouldn't start as a fry cook, but as the CEO, because we owe him that job? Yeah, that makes sense.

Ms. Paniagua has an almost identical letter in La Prensa San Diego.( LINK)

LHC TO BE CRANKED UP IN SWITZERLAND TONIGHT WHILE WE SLEEP IN CALIFORNIA

The biggest machine ever built will be started up in Switzerland tonight as proton beams are gradually commissioned into the 17 mile long Large Hadron Collider, which has now been cooled down almost to absolute zero.

When fully operational, two opposing proton beams will be smashed into each other at close to the speed of light. This should produce conditions similar to what happened in the universe just after the big bang.

IF STEPHEN HAWKING IS RIGHT...

If physicist Stephen Hawking's calculations are right, any black holes produced will blink out of existence almost immediately.

If he's wrong...

[Photo of Dr. Hawking, who suffers from ALS. That would be Mensa Stephen to a former employee of the almost daily Daily Pilot and to a local numbnut with a well deserved inferiority complex and an IQ score that one divines is probably often seen inside a pair of penny loafers.] Hawking's website LINK
