I. YOUR LIBERAL AND PROGRESSIVE VOTING GUIDE FOR COSTA MESA

If you're a Democrat, a liberal or a progressive, consider giving your three votes to the following:

1. William Sneen speaks Spanish and lived in Mexico for several years. He also works for a company that markets to Latinos. He's also involved in various non-profits and with school issues. His wife used to be on the School Board.

2. Chris McEvoy speaks favorably of the Westside Latino culture and he'd be a good solid vote with Sneen and would help give Westside Latinos a voice. He'd also bring back the job center and help stop the divisiveness.

3. Chris Bunyan is the strongest environmentalist running and wants to keep homes out of Banning Ranch. He'd be a great choice to help bring in solar power and other alternatives including electric vehicles to replace city government's present gas guzzlers.

4. Lisa Reedy defended the massive Mission-Mendoza apartment complex in her Mesa del Mar neighborhood when improvers called the apartments slums that should be torn down. This is a major low-income housing project where many immigrants who work in our restaurants and other service businesses reportedly live.

5. Nick Moss is a Libertarian. He's the only Libertarian running. As you may know, the Libertarian Party wants open borders. Moss can probably be counted on to be a good progressive vote on the Council.

******************************************************************************
II. YOUR CONSERVATIVE, REPUBLICAN, IMPROVEMENT VOTING GUIDE FOR COSTA MESA

1. Jim Righeimer is the only person running who really understands the pluses and minuses of development. Well connected to county, state and national leaders, which should help with undergrounding the SR-55 and stopping the expansion of JWA. He's a crime fighter.

2. Gary Monahan is a seasoned veteran of the political wars and is a strong advocate for small businesses and keeping government from growing. Wants the SR-55 put underground and wants to stop JWA from expanding. He's a crime fighter.

3. Eric Bever is the current mayor. He's a strong advocate for giving incentives to homeowners to upgrade their homes which will help improve all of Costa Mesa. Wants the SR-55 put underground and wants to stop JWA from expanding. He's a crime fighter.

*********************************************************************************

III. YOUR CONSERVATIVE, LIBERAL, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, PROGRESSIVE, LIBERTARIAN, FOR AND AGAINST, AND ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE VOTER GUIDE

Katrina Foley is the candidate who seems to stand for everything and nothing at the same time. If this also describes you, then Foley may be your candidate.

Foley is a registered Democrat who touts her support from leading liberal Democrats such as Loretta and Linda Sanchez, yet she paid to have her name put in a Republican Voter Guide with conservative Republicans Gary Monahan and Jim Righeimer. (We kid you not! We have a copy of the voter guide.)

Foley said she was against the ICE program initiated by Allan Mansoor but now says she's for the ICE program as it has evolved and which is responsible for booting almost a thousand poor, just looking for a better life, bicycle riding, bible teaching immigrants out of Costa Mesa and the United States.

Foley apparently doesn't like to take a firm stand on anything or firmly stand for anything.

If you like to hear sweet nothings and see a City Councilmember who is ineffective and can't get anything done to make Costa Mesa safer and nicer, then Foley is your candidate.

IS KATRINA FOLEY PLAYING PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS FOR FOOLS?

Now that the almost daily Daily Pilot has endorsed Katrina Foley (Democrat), Jim Righeimer (Republican) and Gary Monahan (Republican), it may be time for progressive Democrats to take a look at the best way to proceed to bring in progressive policies on the City Council.

Is Katrina Foley really a progressive or even a real Democrat?

Foley tries to appear to be a Republican as shown by the fact that she paid money to have her name listed on a Republican Voter Guide along with conservative Republicans Righeimer and Monahan!

Would a real Democrat or real progressive have done that? What's next, maybe a photo of Foley and Dick Cheney hugging?

Remember, the almost daily Daily Pilot has had some personnel changes over there and it may not be as liberal as you think.

Would a true liberal newspaper endorse two very conservative Republicans--Righeimer and Monahan?

Good grief! Righeimer is even Dana Rohrabacher's campaign manager this year and is working to keep progressive Democrat Debbie Cook from unseating Rohrabacher.

So, who is Foley kidding and what game is she playing? Is she trying to fool progressives and is she really a closet conservative Republican?

Remember, when Foley refused to sign a letter to President Bush about securing our borders, she said she didn't like the wording and would write her own better letter. Wouldn't a real progressive have said that "no humans are illegal."

And, what about getting endorsed by the Police? Do you think they're liberal? Hmmmm?

Is Foley a Trojan Horse candidate?

Foley constantly stresses that she can work with the non-progressive majority on the Council. To do that, she'll have to throw out progressive policies and opinions.

One vote isn't good for anything!

It takes three votes to get anything done on the City Council.

And, even if Foley wins a seat, it is highly likely that there will be four Councilmembers who are conservative and improvement minded. What good can she do? One vote gets nothing.

The other four don't appear to like Foley and won't work with her except for things they want

If you've been watching the local scene, as we have, you know that after the election, and if Righeimer and Monahan win, along with Foley, that Foley won't be listened to at all. She'll be a lame duck going in. This means that no progressive policies will pass if Foley wins. If she wins, she might as well never show up and just go skiing all the time.

It's time to dump the cult of personality that marks Foley and vote for true progressives who can get something done

It's time to elect those who share your progressive ideals and your vision. It's time to stop playing footsie with Foley. She's all talk and no action.

If you ask us, Foley is too personally ambitious. In our opinion, Foley isn't running because she has things she wants to do for Costa Mesa, but because it's a resume enhancement.

Here's what needs to be done if you want progressive policies:

A. Don't vote for Foley. She talks out of both sides of her mouth. She seems to be a Democrat when she speaks to Democrats and a Republican when she speaks to Republicans.

B. Vote your conscience and for those things you stand for by voting for those who are likely to have similar positions to yours.

If you're a progressive, consider voting for the following:

1. William Sneen speaks Spanish and lived in Mexico for several years. He also works for a company that markets to Latinos. He'd be a good choice to help make the Westside a real
"Latin Quarter." He's also involved in various non-profits and with school issues. His wife used to be on the School Board.

2. Chris McEvoy speaks highly of the Westside Latino culture and he'd be a good solid vote with Sneen and would help give Westside Latinos a voice.

4. Lisa Reedy defended the Mission-Mendoza apartment complex in her Mesa del Mar neighborhood, where many immigrants who work in our restaurants and other service businesses live, when improvers called the apartments slums that should be torn down. She should be a good female alternative to Foley and should help with pushing progressive policies including getting more affordable housing for immigrants.

5. Nick Moss is a Libertarian. He's the only Libertarian running. As you may know, the Libertarian Party wants open borders. Moss can probably be counted on to be a good progressive vote on the Council.

Of course, if you are improvement minded, you may wish to cast your votes for Righeimer, Monahan and Bever.

ANYONE BUT FOLEY--WE OFFER SOME ALTERNATIVES TO OUR LIBERAL FRIENDS
(This is not a photo of Foley)

The CM PRESS has been receiving comments from some of our liberal friends who have concerns about Katrina Foley.

Some have said they voted for her before but won't do so in this election.

The basic problem that most have with Foley seems to be one of trust. A few have pointed out that they want honest politicians, not people who will say anything to get elected.

Even many liberals want politicians who will tell the truth.

Most of these folks pay attention to local politics and they're aware that Foley refused to sign a letter to President Bush asking him to secure our borders. Some of them don't mind that she refused to sign that letter.

But, what they do mind is the fact that when she refused, she didn't appear to be honest about it. Instead, she said that she wasn't happy with the way the letter was worded and that she would write her own letter with better wording.

Apparently, she has never written such a letter and many believe she never intended to write such a letter.

They see that as being dishonest and a bad example for our children.

Some are also concerned about Foley's endorsements from the public service unions. They believe she has sold out the citizens of this city to get the endorsements.

Many are also aware that Righeimer, Monahan and Bever didn't want such endorsements because they believe that this is a conflict of interest. And, we agree. Those who are elected will have to vote on salaries and benefits for the members of these unions. Some have pointed out to us that some jurisdictions have even made it illegal for these public service unions to endorse candidates in local elections because of this conflict. People are tired of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours political hacks.

Now, here's the nub of this. Some of these liberals tell us that they've never voted for a Republican in their lives, and won't do so now.

They've essentially said to us, if the CM PRESS didn't believe that Righeimer, Monahan and Bever were the best for a nicer and safer Costa Mesa, who would we pick as the next best.

Here's our answer. If you believe, rightly or wrongly, that Foley plays with the truth and can't be trusted and is a bad example for our children, then look at the following alternatives:

Chris Bunyan--Bunyan sounds like a straight shooter. His major concern is Banning Ranch and the environment, and he's done well in the candidate forums. We're impressed with his honesty and openness. He's much improved and better focused this time over the last time he ran. He's a good alternative to Foley.

Lisa Reedy--Some people simply want to vote for a woman. If you're one of these, then consider Reedy. She needs more seasoning in city matters, but she appears to be a quick study.

She seems to be involved in many of the same type of PTA things that Foley is involved in, but appears to be honest. At the last candidate forum, she may have signaled a distancing from Foley when she said that she's not running with anyone, but is running all by herself. She's a good female substitute for Foley.

Nick Moss--Moss is a big "L" Libertarian. This means he's for smaller, less intrusive government, lower taxes and individual freedom. This is his first foray into politics and he hasn't quite learned to punch out his message in quick sound bites, but if you know how Libertarians think and what they stand for, you get it. He'd be a big improvement over Foley.

Chris McEvoy--We like the fact that McEvoy is a math teacher and we understand what he's trying to say when he tells voters that this math background helps him think logically. He'd be an improvement over Foley.

Unfortunately, we think McEvoy has certain fixed ideas--maybe from his childhood*--that keep him from truly thinking logically about the problems in Costa Mesa.

It seems to us that, at the present time, he's conflicted. The logical part of his brain seems to be taking a back seat to the usual liberal psychobabble. Nevertheless, given his math background, and his desire to think logically, we believe at some point he'll understand that some of his present positions are not logical and are not borne out by the numbers.

It's simply not logical to believe, on the one hand, that numbers don't lie, and then, on the other hand, to deny the results given by those numbers. It doesn't compute.

Specifically, McEvoy seems to be letting his emotional side override his logical side when he talks about some of the problems we have in Costa Mesa with illegal aliens. It seems that he is simply ignoring the statistics and the facts that lead to some logical conclusions.

*Another reason why McEvoy might be letting his emotional side override his logical side is the fact that he suffers from a neurological disorder called Dystonia. This is a condition that causes involuntary muscle contractions. Our guess is that his particular type of Dystonia is Oromandibular Dystonia which only affects the muscles that move the mouth, tongue and jaw.

Because of this condition, McEvoy may subconsciously feel picked on by those without the condition. As a result, he may have developed a hyper-sensitive reservoir of sometimes misplaced empathy and compassion for others in society who he feels are also being "picked on" by others.

In our local political context, he may wrongly believe that those being picked on are illegal aliens and this may blind him to the reality of the problems that they are causing the good, decent citizens of this city.

The truth is that illegal aliens are not poor innocent little kittens being kicked by slack jawed, boorish morons. They are fully functioning adults who have broken our laws for monetary reasons. They are here to make money any way they can and to hell with our laws and the rights of citizens.

William Sneen--We wouldn't buy a used car from this guy any more than we would buy one from Foley. We couldn't get straight answers from him when we spoke to him on the telephone. It was like pulling teeth to even get him to tell us his political party affiliation ("decline to state").

At a meeting of the Costa Mesa High School Foundation--he says he's a founding member of this Foundation--Sneen bristled and said he was "insulted" when the CM PRESS asked questions about the Foundation and citizens' money and why the Foundation hasn't done the required audits and annual reports and why the Foundation hasn't filed tax returns for 2006 and 2007.
# # #
Note: We don't consider any of the above as reasonable substitutes for Righeimer, Monahan and Bever, but if you're a liberal and just can't vote for Righeimer, Monahan and Bever, and you want politicians who seem to be a change from Foley, you might consider some of the above.

HEY EASTSIDERS--CHECK OUT BEVER'S BANNERS ALL OVER THE EASTSIDE!

The once, the present, and the future mayor--Eric Bever--who came out of the Westside improvement movement-- is now taking his calls for improvement right into the the heart of the Eastside--where the many good people, who want to see real action and not empty words-- are being shouted down by one tiny brain windbag.

Bever has his large 20 foot banners up in strategic locations where you can't miss them. This guy is serious about getting your vote this year. And, he's on your side.

Fortunately, most Eastsiders know that they need real action and not empty words and lies about stopping the expansion of JWA and about putting the SR-55 underground where it belongs.

The CM PRESS is convinced that Bever, Monahan and Righeimer will work hard to stop the expansion of JWA and will work just as hard to get that stupid SR-55 put underground where the damn thing belongs.

If you doubt the above assertions, just go back to when the improvement movement started and you'll see your humble CM PRESS calling for undergrounding the SR-55 and for not only stopping the expansion of JWA, but of shrinking it back to what it should be--a tiny airport for crop duster size planes.

The Eastside is at an important turning point. It can remain a great place to live, or it can become a wasteland with homes that lose value overnight because of traffic and JWA.

JWA must be stopped, or the Eastside is going to become as undesirable as all other neighborhoods that are under the flight path of low flying planes. Just check out the area west of LAX, for a clue about what a wrong vote this year might get you.

The CM PRESS is convinced that Bever, Monahan and Righeimer are the only ones running this year who have the political know-how to get relief for the Eastside.

UPDATE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2008, 7:55 PM

The almost daily DAILY PILOT has endorsed Foley, Righeimer and Monahan. LINK

The CM PRESS anticipated this and has been telling Improvers for weeks that these three had the highest probability of being endorsed by the ADDP. No doubt, the ADDP calculated that this was the best thing to do to try to save Foley's seat.

The lefties were stung badly in the last election and now they're just trying to defend the one seat they still have on the City Council.

That's also why most of the former Return to Reason folks and many others who were behind Schaefer and Garlic in the last election have put all their efforts into reelecting Foley instead of trying to win two or three seats.

CLEAR CHOICE IN CITY COUNCIL ELECTION THIS YEAR

If you're a conservative and want Costa Mesa to be nicer and safer, you'll like Better City Eric Bever, Good for Citizens Gary Monahan and Improved Costa Mesa Jim Righeimer.

ON THE OTHER HAND...

If you're a lefty and like liberal Democrat Flopsy Katrina Foley, then you'll also like Dancing Bill Sneen, Tree Hugger Chris Bunyan, The Beard Chris McEvoy, The Ostrich Lisa Reedy and Baldy Nick Moss.

On election day as you're heading to your wine and cheese party and then to the polls, be sure to spread your three lefty-I-like-illegal-aliens-and-more-crime-and lousier-school votes among these six.

And remember, the Lonely Old Man--the pasty faced lefty loon with the tin foil hat and TV antennae on his head--likes Foley a lot. Why, he likes her so much that he wets his Depends brand adult diapers--when he thinks of casting a vote for her.

Say, did we mention...

Flopsy Katrina Foley voted--twice--against sending a letter to President Bush about securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws.

Flopsy apparently sees no connection between illegal aliens and Costa Mesa's astronomical violent crime rate, and apparently doesn't understand that this violent crime rate is now falling thanks to the improvement majority who brought an ICE agent to Costa Mesa who has now deported almost a thousand illegal alien criminals from our city.

Think about it, almost a thousand illegal alien criminals who are now not on our streets planning their next drive-by shooting, their next car jacking, their next burglary or strong arm robbery. But, Foley and the lefties can't figure out why our violent crime rate is dropping.

Flopsy apparently also sees no connection between the in-the-dumps Santa Ana level student scores in our schools and having a large population of illegal alien criminals in Costa Mesa.

And, Flopsy apparently sees no connection between having a city chock full of illegal alien criminals and our fleeing middle class.

And, this isn't to mention that Flopsy apparently sees no connection between having a city full of illegal alien criminals and the fact that our home prices are lower than any surrounding city except Santa Ana.

Leftythink
That's the way lefties think. There is no logic. They have no clue about this being a cause and effect universe.

For lefties, negative things just happen with no causes, unless those causes are inanimate objects.

Yes, dear friends, it is a Disneyesque universe that the lefties live in. It's a place where kitchen utensils dance and sing and have personalities. For lefties, it's not, "I dropped a dinner plate on the floor." Instead, lefties think: "The dinner plate fell out of my hands."

Violent crime? Why, it's not people who cause it. It's bad Mr. Gun.

Failing students in our schools? Gosh, that has nothing to do with so many students being illegal aliens or the children of illegal aliens. Why, it must be Mr. School Building that is at fault.

But seriously...
Listen to a lefty talk about something such as poor student scores in our schools sometime.

They won't usually tell the truth: "It is the students who are tested and who get the low scores."

Instead...
They'll say: "The schools are failing." See, they shift away from people--the students--to the inanimate object--the school (building).

The truth...
The truth is this: If we took all the students from Corona del Mar High School and put them in Costa Mesa High School and Estancia High School and took all the students from Costa Mesa High School and Estancia High School and put them in Corona del Mar High School, and did nothing else, Corona del Mar High School would have low student scores and Costa Mesa High School and Estancia High School would have high student scores.

People matter...
You can't take people out of the equation when you talk about schools, crime, cities, neighborhoods.

If a city is full of illegal alien criminals, it will be like Santa Ana in most statistics. If it is not full of illegal alien criminals, it won't be like Santa Ana in most statistics.

Prove us wrong...
Now, if you're a lefty and this makes you want to tie the arms of your sweater a little tighter around your shoulders and it causes you to gag on your Brie, don't give us your usual mumbling nonsense.

Instead, give us statistics and a real world example to prove we're wrong. Give us facts, not emotion.

Go ahead. Find a city that has a high population of criminal illegal aliens that is considered a great city with low crime, good schools, a high quality of life. Come on, lefties, find just one. You can't do it, because it doesn't exist.

Flopsy Foley...
That's why lefties like Flopsy Katrina Foley. She thinks the same way.

Crime ridden slum in Foley's neighborhood? Why, the solution is to plant flowers in front of it.

Man killed in a drive-by shooting? Why, the solution is to bring his grieving relatives a plate of lasagna.

A city full of Latino gangs? Why, the solution is to try to hide the fact that they're Latino gangs with connections to illegal aliens and, instead, tax citizens to pay for hug-a-thug programs for the "children," which don't work.

FONY FLOPSY FOLEY FUDGES

Do you want a Councilmember who gets elected under false pretenses?

Do you want a Councilmember who tries to hide who she really is?

Republican voters in Costa Mesa got a slate mailer the other day called the VOTING GUIDE FOR REPUBLICANS that listed three seeming "Republican" City Council candidates that this voting guide seemed to endorse.

There they were: Gary Monahan, Jim Righeimer and Katrina Foley. (?)

Huh?

Gary Monahan and Jim Righeimer are conservative Republicans who are tough on crime. But what about Flopsy Foley?

As you may be aware, Foley is not a Republican. She's an ultra-liberal Democrat.

Anyone can pay to have their name in these slate mailers and Foley wants to fool Republicans into thinking she's a Republican. She's even endorsed by her fellow ultra-liberal Democrats and open borders zealots Linda and Loretta Sanchez!

Here's the small print on this slate mailer: "Notice to Voters--THIS DOCUMENT WAS PREPARED BY CALIFORNIA VOTER GUIDE, NOT AN OFFICIAL POLITICAL PARTY ORGANIZATION. Appearance in this mailer does not necessarily imply endorsement of other candidates or ballot measures in this mailer. Appearance is paid for and authorized by each candidate and ballot measure which is designated by an *. CANDIDATES SELECTED INDEPENDENT OF PARTY AFFILIATION"

And here's the nonsense that appears under liberal Democrat Flopsy Foley's name:
"Councilmember/Attorney--Foley is looking out for the taxpayers. She's known as a crime fighter and she is working to protect our neighborhoods. Katrina Foley will keep Costa Mesa safe."

It should have said "Flopsy Foley is a phony windbag who uses smoke and mirrors to try to fool voters. She figures voters aren't very bright and that she can pull the wool over their eyes."

What about this line "She's known as a crime fighter and she is working to protect our neighborhoods"?

It's BS.

As reported in the August 8, 2005 Daily Pilot, Flopsy Foley was the ONLY City Councilmember who refused to sign a letter to President Bush asking that he enforce existing immigration laws.

And, the June 19, 2007 Daily Pilot reported that Flopsy Foley refused to sign yet another letter urging President Bush to enforce existing immigration law.

Foley is bad for Costa Mesa and she wants to fool voters by making them think she's something she's not.

With such smoke and mirrors is it any wonder that so many voters are turned off by politicians?

ICE STATISTICS FOR SEPTEMBER

According to the monthly ICE report from the CMPD, in September of 2008, there were 35 ICE Detainers Issued to arrestees in Costa Mesa.

By contrast, in September of 2007, there were 30 ICE Detainers Issued.

Good work CMPD and ICE! You're helping keep Costa Mesa safe from criminals. The CM PRESS has noted that our violent crime numbers seem to be falling.

ANOTHER YOUNG COP KILLED BY ILLEGAL ALIENS
Phoenix police officer Marc Atkinson, 28, turned a corner in his marked patrol car and was ambushed by three illegal aliens who shot Atkinson three times in the head.

Atkinson is survived by his wife and infant son.

Atkinson would be alive today if his illegal alien killers had been deported.
Atkinson's death was preventable.

THIS ISN'T A GAME OR A WINE AND CHEESE PARTY
If you're a politician or a community leader and you help keep criminal illegal aliens in your community, you are also responsible for the crimes of illegal aliens.

There are only 3 people running for Costa Mesa City Council this year who will work to rid
Costa Mesa of the hundreds of gang members in this city:

Jim Righeimer, Gary Monahan, Eric Bever

TOP 3 VOTE GETTERS ARE ELECTED

Don't be confused when you vote. This is not the year to split votes.

Say you know and like one or two of these three--Righeimer, Monahan, Bever--but aren't sure about one or two of the others.

Don't split your vote!

Vote for all three on the basis that these three are supported by most Improvers and by Allan Mansoor and many others who do know all three.

This is not a time to go weak on crime and other problems we face in Costa Mesa.

VOTE FOR THE ONLY 3 WHO REALLY WILL DRIVE DOWN CRIME, REMOVE GANGS, IMPROVE OUR SCHOOLS, IMPROVE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE.

# # #
ALMOST A THOUSAND ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS DEPORTED FROM COSTA MESA SO FAR
Have you noticed that Costa Mesa seems to have less serious violent crime this year than in recent years?

If you're a lefty, you're probably mumbling into your wine glass and saying it's just one of those things--one of the mysteries of the universe.

Well, you'd be wrong. It's not just one of those things and it's no mystery. We live in a cause and effect universe. Things happen because there are causes for them happening.

Costa Mesa's high violent crime rate is declining because the citizens of this city elected some tough on crime improvement minded people to the City Council and they started the ICE program that has now booted out around a thousand illegal aliens.

Elect open borders lefty Flopsy Foley and her crew this year and you can expect more soft on crime wine and cheese parties.

Elect Righeimer, Monahan and Bever and you'll see more criminals booted out of this city.

Prior to the murder, Garcia had been voluntarily returned once and formally deported to Mexico twice, He was a convicted narcotics dealer and weapons offender and at the time of the murder he was wanted on two counts of attempted murder. He is believed to have fled to Mexico within eight hours.
Garcia has indicated that he plans to kill more cops.

DON'T LET THE LEFTIES TAKE OVER THE COSTA MESA CITY COUNCIL! COSTA MESA NEEDS TO KEEP DEPORTING ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS.

Katrina Foley, known as Flopsy around the CM PRESS, and her supporters, because of their squishy world views, will help make Costa Mesa an unofficial sanctuary city for illegal aliens.

What was Flopsy's answer to recent gang killings? She delivered some lasagna to the grieving relatives of a man who was shot to death, and she planted flowers in front of a slum.

Tell Foley we don't want her soft on crime policies in Costa Mesa by voting her out of office.

The CM PRESS believes that we need Jim Righeimer, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever on the City Council to keep up the work of making Costa Mesa the nice and safe city that it should be.

On November 4, you'll cast three votes for the Costa Mesa City Council. DON'T BE CONFUSED by lefty lies. VOTE FOR THE 3--Righeimer, Monahan, Bever.

So far, under policies that will continue under Righeimer, Monahan and Bever, Costa Mesa has deported almost 1,000 criminal illegal aliens.

And, our violent crime rate has started to drop!

KEEP IT UP. DON'T VOTE FOR FOLEY AND HER CROWD IF YOU WANT OUR VIOLENT CRIME RATE TO KEEP GOING DOWN.

The scumbag illegal alien shot Officer Johnson four times in the back of the head.

Officer Johnson would be alive today if the scumbag illegal alien had been kept out of the country.

SEEN AND HEARD AROUND TOWN

W. 19TH STREET
A reader told the CM PRESS that while he was buying food at the McDonald's on West 19th Street, a white van pulled up and out piled a group of Flopsies all wearing Flopsy Foley green T-Shirts and all speaking Spanish. The reader was unable to tell if any of the Flopsies also spoke English.

MESA NORTH
Another similar Spanish speaking group of Flopsies, also in Flopsy's green T-shirts, was seen in Mesa North going door to door leaving Flopsy Foley fliers on Saturday.

The green shirted Flopsies had to walk past Righeimer, Monahan and Bever signs on at least one lawn to drop off their Foley flier. Perhaps they can't read English?

There are also now two Flopsy Foley election signs sitting on public property in the Fillmore-Coolidge slum. Maybe, Foley's, er, "workers" also don't know the law? Or, maybe they do know the law, but just figure our laws don't apply to them.

Say...

Did we mention that Flopsy Foley twice voted against sending two different letters to President Bush about enforcing our laws and protecting our borders and that she spoke to a group of day workers, including suspected illegal aliens, at a room rented by a Spanish speaking church at the Costa Mesa Senior Center (a building owned by the citizens of Costa Mesa) and told them, through an interpreter, that she's their pal?

Vote wisely if you don't want Costa Mesa to become the new Santa Ana

The CM PRESS believes that Righeimer, Monahan and Bever are the only three running this year who will help keep Costa Mesa from becoming a new Santa Ana.

So far, about a thousand illegal alien criminals have been deported from Costa Mesa. Don't let Foley and her lefty pals get back into office to reverse this!

You do know that Foley is endorsed by extremist lefties Loretta and Linda Sanchez, don't you?

POLICE OFFICER NICK ERFLE SHOT AND KILLED BY ILLEGAL ALIEN

Phoenix Police Officer Nick Erfle, 33, father of two, was shot and killed on September 18, 2007, during a routine stop of 3 jaywalkers disrupting traffic.

One of the jaywalkers, illegal alien Erik Jovani Martinez, 22, shot and killed Officer Erfle.

Officer Erfle would still be alive if squishy liberals hadn't allowed the scumbag Martizez to remain in the USA.

If you're a cop on the streets, are you happy that squishy liberals are sometimes getting into office by saying they support you while they're voting against policies that would make your job safer? Are you happy with some union bosses who support such politicians?

As promised, the CM PRESS will regularly publish reports of cops who were murdered by illegal aliens.

When we started to look for such murders, we were struck by just how many cops have been murdered by illegal aliens. In fact, we could probably fill the CM PRESS every day for many months and put in nothing more than short articles about cops being killed by illegal aliens.

Scumbag Martinez may have pulled the trigger on the gun that killed Officer Erfle, but the blame has to be shared by liberal scumbags with their hug-a-thug policies.

Officer Erfle's wife and two small children will now be grieving for the rest of their lives, while the liberal scumbags will be going to their wine and cheese parties and voting against allowing cops to check the citizenship status of suspects.

Erfle's death was preventable. If his killer had been booted out of the country, Erfle would still be alive today. And, right now, today, Saturday, Erfle would be getting ready for Halloween with his family. Maybe he'd be decorating a make believe coffin as a decoration, instead of lying in one.

WHITE MAN BURNED ALIVE BY LATINO CRIMINALS

If these punks are caught, do you suppose there will be hate crime enhancements? Of course not. Why? Because the victim was white. Had whites done this to any minority, you'd be reading about this and seeing stories all over TV for months.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER CANDIDATE FORUM

The Eastside Costa Mesa Neighbor's Group held it's Costa Mesa City Council candidate forum last night in the Downtown Community Center. LINK to the group.

You can see a replay of the forum on CMTV-24.LINK And, here's the almost daily Daily Pilot's take on the forum. LINK
The entire forum was devoted to Eastside traffic problems, which all begin with the SR-55 ending near 19th Street instead of ending at Industrial Way.
Here, in the order in which they first answered, is the gist of each candidate's ideas on what to do to improve the traffic problems of the Eastside, along with our comments in [].

Foley: Cut and cover is a long term proposition. In the interim, we need to calm traffic on the Eastside with cul-de-sacs and similar approaches. [Foley's emphasis on cul-de-sacs appeared to be the least popular answer of the evening, judging by the audience reaction and a slam from Gary Monahan against this idea when he had a chance to answer the question.]

Sneen: Cut and cover. Also for cul-de-sacs and speed bumps. Said that it was a "complex subject." [No, it's not. It's a simple subject. The friggin' 55 ends about a mile short of where it should end and it should be put underground. End of problem.]

Bever: Cut and cover.

Monahan: Cut and cover. [Gave the best and most detailed answers of any candidate. Said that Foley's ideas about cul-de-sacs and similar approaches were considered in the '90's and were unpopular with Eastsiders. Monahan said that at the present time he can drive from his Eastside home to his Eastside business in about two minutes, but with cul-de-sacs, etc. it would take him ten minutes. Monahan also said that Foley's recent negative comments against the OCTA in the Daily Pilot aren't helping get that body on our side with the cut and cover idea.]

McEvoy: Route more traffic to Irvine Avenue.
Bunyan: Banning Ranch will add more traffic. Said Monahan should ride a bike to work.

Reedy: Agreed with Foley about cul-de-sacs. [She then launched into a silly spiel about people getting together to talk about the issue. Good grief! Reedy, people have been talking about this since 1992 when the 55 came to the middle of our downtown. Some of our voters this year were only 2-years-old when we began talking about this. Reedy gave the worst answer of any candidate. In fact, her whole campaign sounds like a grade school teacher saying: "Now, children can't we all get along? Let's just talk and everything will be fine. Okay, children, time for a group hug." Folks, we don't need more talk among uninformed people. We need action. ]
Righeimer: Cut and cover. Righeimer thinks the cut and cover approach is possible in about five years, if it is handled correctly. [On this question, and all others, Righeimer gave crisp, succinct, direct answers. Righeimer cut through the BS and didn't dance around with throat clearing babble. We think he'd bring some much needed expertise and desirable personal characteristics to the City Council.]
Moss: No cul-de-sacs.

800 ILLEGAL ALIENS BOOTED OUT OF COSTA MESA? ADD 111 MORE TO THE TOTAL
As we previously reported, the number of illegal aliens with ICE holds in the Costa Mesa jail have fallen off from last year.
The CMPD explained that the lower numbers are because more arrestees in Costa Mesa are being taken to the Orange County Jail before they are interviewed by the ICE agent in the Costa Mesa Jail.
We then asked the Sheriff's Department how many Costa Mesa arrestees have had ICE holds put on them in the Orange County Jail.
The answer, according to an email we received today, is that "since the inception of the program on 1/19/2007 until 9/30/2008 there have been 111 ICE detainers placed on inmates booked into the Orange County Jail by the Costa Mesa Police Department."

Add those 111 to the 800 + that the ICE agent in the Costa Mesa Jail has nabbed and we're close to a 1,000.
In other words, we're close to booting a thousand criminals from our city.

This is no thanks to Flopsy Katrina Foley and the local wine and cheese lefties.
You can thank Allan Mansoor, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever for getting these criminals out of Costa Mesa.
And, remember, when you go to the polls you'll have a very clear choice in Costa Mesa this year.
If you put Jim Righeimer, Gary Monahan and Eric Bever on the new City Council, you can expect even more criminals to be removed from Costa Mesa.

They don't just talk the talk. They walk the walk. (Unlike Flopsy Foley who pretends to be tough on crime but who votes against measures to reduce crime).

COP KILLING ILLEGAL ALIENS
(The poster above is about an illegal alien who killed a cop in Denver and wounded his partner)

We're going to start publishing more and more names of cops who have been killed by illegal aliens who liberals have allowed to run loose to kill cops.

Let's see if cops on the streets, who are in danger every time they go to work, support union bosses and politicians who make their jobs more dangerous.

The thing about cops who are killed by illegal aliens is that these killings are preventable. These cops would still be alive if the illegal aliens had been deported.

CM PRESS # 506

THE COSTA MESA HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION

Background
In 2003, the Segerstrom Company gave the City of Costa Mesa (read, the citizens of this city) two million dollars as part of the deal for allowing the Home Ranch project to go forward.

The Costa Mesa City Council then gave a million dollars each to two new foundations set up to help our schools. One is the Costa Mesa High School Foundation and the other is the Estancia & TeWinkle Schools Foundation.

Each foundation was then to put its million dollars in the bank or in some safe investments and use the interest, profits or dividends to help the schools each year.

The full two million dollars is now reportedly in one or more Fidelity Investment accounts and yields approximately $40,000 to $ 50,000 for each of the foundations each year.

The Costa Mesa High School Foundation
The CM PRESS only looked in depth at the Costa Mesa High School Foundation (CMHSF), so what follows only covers that one foundation. LINK to CMHSF Website. We may look at the other foundation in the future.

How the money is distributed
During the year, teachers at Costa Mesa High School (including 7th and 8th grade teachers at the Junior High School) submit grant requests, usually in March, to the CMHSF. Grant requests often far exceed the $40,000-$50,000 available each year. We understand, for example, that there were grant requests for approximately $180,000 in one recent year.

The grant requests are reviewed by volunteer grant readers from the community. Those grant requests that are approved are then usually funded in June or July.

Examples given to us of grant requests that were funded, were for things such as sound systems, field trips, choir robes, instruments for the band, equipment for school laboratories, textbooks, cameras, and similar items.

Grant checks for $ 5,000 or more must be co-signed by Costa Mesa's Chief Financial Officer, Marc Puckett. Mr. Puckett told the CM PRESS that such checks are rare.

We attend a meeting of the CMHSF
In an attempt to get answers to some questions which were not being timely or fully answered in our email requests for information, the CM PRESS attended the Costa Mesa High School Foundation's monthly meeting this past Tuesday, October 7.

One of those in attendance was CMHSF board member William Sneen, who is also a candidate for the Costa Mesa City Council this year. In his campaign literature, Mr. Sneen states that he is a "Founding Board Member of the Costa Mesa High Schools (sic) Foundation."

During the public comments section of the meeting, the CM PRESS asked a number of questions including the following:

CM PRESS: Where are the CMHSF's tax forms (990's) for the years 2006 and 2007? These are public documents, but the only ones the CM PRESS has been able to find are from 2004 and 2005.
CMHSF: We're working on them.

CM PRESS: Section 5.7 of your By-Laws requires that the CMHSF furnish an Annual Report and Audit to the Costa Mesa City Attorney. Here's the relevant part of that section:

"Section 5.7 Annual Report and Audit. The board shall cause an annual report to be furnished to the directors and the City Attorney of the City (the "City Attorney") not later than one hundred twenty (120) days after the close of the corporation's fiscal year. The annual report shall be accompanied by an audit thereon of independent certified public accountants which shall be made available to the public. The annual report shall be in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America...." (emphasis added).

CM PRESS: Where can the CM PRESS see the Annual Reports and Audits?
CMHSF: We've never done such reports or audits.

CM PRESS: Why not?
CMHSF: Because it would be too expensive to do them. Possibly around $5,000.

CM PRESS: Where can we see the grant requests?
CMHSF: We'll get back to you.

CM PRESS: What checks and balances do you have on funding?
CMHSF: All checks, even for a dollar, must be signed by two board members.

He's insulted

After we asked a few more questions, board member and City Council candidate Sneen said that he was insulted by our questions.

Insulted?

This is the public's money and the public has a right to know what's being done with it. The questions we asked were all intended to get succinct, straight answers for the citizens of Costa Mesa.

During the meeting, we were also told that we would have to leave the meeting when the board voted for new members. When we protested that this should be open to the public, the board relented and we were able to stay.

The new officers of the CMHSF voted in on Tuesday, are: Tom Wagner, President; William Sneen, Vice-President; Ann Bray, Secretary; Janet Krochman, Treasurer; Julia Lawson, Assistant Treasurer.

The next meeting of the CMHSF will be held at 7:00 PM in the principal's conference room at CMHS on Tuesday, November 18.

POSTSCRIPT: We have now been told informally that the CMHSF is trying to get pro bono Annual Reports and Audits as required by the CMHSF's by-laws, and we've now received an email saying that we can review the last grant request book.

IN THE NEWSPEAK DEPARTMENT--FLOPSY FOLEY SAYS SHE'S AGAINST CRIME

If so, then why, as reported in the August 8, 2005 Daily Pilot, was Flopsy Foley, the ONLY City Councilmember who refused to sign a letter to President Bush asking that he enforce existing immigration laws?

And, why, as reported in the June 19, 2007 Daily Pilot, did Flopsy Foley refuse to sign another letter also urging President Bush to enforce existing immigration law?
Thanks to the improvement majority on the City Council, more than 800 illegal alien criminals have now been taken off the streets of Costa Mesa.
If Foley and her crew had been in charge, those 800 illegal alien criminals would probably still be on our streets. Maybe some would be on your street right now. Maybe they'd be looking at your house as a burglary target. Good riddance to the criminals.
Vote for Righeimer, Monahan and Bever next month and retire Flopsy, and we'll see even more criminals booted out of Costa Mesa.
