We think this is a good thing. A little pruning often makes for greater efficiency and stength, and in the case of the Marines, they were never intended to be an army size force that is used to hold ground--as they are too often being asked to do today.
The Marine mission is to find the enemy, engage the enemy, destroy the enemy, and then move on to the next enemy and let others hold the ground just won.

commenting on may be a PR plant for Robert De Niro's upcoming movie (made for TV we think) about fictional Irish Neo-Nazis in South Boston.
BTW, De Niro is at least half Irish.
