GANGS OF COSTA MESA--THE REALITY
(Wherein we get a little philosophical in our quest for the truth)
HOW YOU'RE BEING ASKED TO SPEND MORE OF YOUR MONEY TO KEEP COSTA MESA ILLEGAL ALIEN FRIENDLY
At the upcoming City Council study session to be held in city hall conference room 1a, on Tuesday, March 13, starting at 4:30 p.m. the Council will hear a proposal for an anti-gang program. A similar proposal was offered last year, but the Council turned it down because it was sketchy.
This present proposal has filled in some of the blanks, but in our view it still leaves much to be desired. Some might even suggest that the report is racist because of what it includes and what it doesn't include.
Here's the link to the City's website where you can find the full report to form your own conclusions:

BROAD STATEMENTS--NO SUPPORTING DATA
In the report, as in the earlier one, we read broad statements with no supporting data. For example, here's one long sentence from the report that illustrates this. We've put our comments in blue and in [] and note that in our quotes taken from some other parts of the report, further below, we've also split up some paragraphs for ease in reading them.
"There is substantial evidence [There is? Where is that evidence? Who provided it? What are their bonafides? Why isn't it in the report?] and best practice documentation [Where is the "documentation"?] that in order to effectively reduce gang related criminal activity and the number of gangs and gang members, municipalities must employ a broad based approach that includes enforcement, intervention and prevention.[Why are there no examples with statistics of where this approach, especially with regard to "intervention" and "prevention,"
has worked? And, what size and type of municipalities? This report is really just trying to sell expensive intervention and prevention]
Another problem with the report is that it never once mentions that most of the estimated 300 gang members in Costa Mesa are Hispanic and that this is a result of Costa Mesa being turned into an illegal alien sanctuary.
You read that right. Not once in the 22 pages of this report will you see the words "Hispanic," "Latino," "illegal aliens." In fact, the only time that race or ethnicity is mentioned in the report is when it tells readers that we have (are you ready?) a white problem:
"In addition to the seven local gangs noted above, [They're Hispanic gangs, but the report doesn't tell us that] other types of gangs impact the City as well. [Really?] For example, white supremacist gang members are known to live and work in Costa Mesa, [How many of the estimated 300 gang members are in these white supremacist gangs? One? Two? Twenty? We're never told this. Also, this says "for example," so are there even more types of gangs, and why aren't they mentioned?] but are not considered to be based in the City,[So, are they a problem for the city or not?] in contrast to the above-mentioned seven gangs.
"The distinction between these gangs and the above seven is that these gangs do not “claim turf” or territory within the City. For example, while some white supremacist gang members may live and work in Costa Mesa, ["May live and work in Costa Mesa?" May? Do they or don't they? And, if they do, how many?] Their base is considered to be through the California prison system and beyond.[So, we want a gang program in Costa Mesa to help with an alleged gang problem in prisons?]
"These gang members claim no identification with Costa Mesa or neighborhoods within Costa Mesa. As such, while in Costa Mesa they normally do not engage in such activity as graffiti, congregating in public in gang attire, intimidating particular neighborhoods in the name of their gang, etc. [What does the "etc." refer to? Muggings? Burglary? Assaults? Killings? Robberies? Rapes? So, these gangs don't do these things?] Their focus is on criminal enterprise for financial gain such as prostitution, identity theft and major drug trafficking, crimes that they commit throughout the Southern California area." [So, they're white collar criminals? They don't engage in drive-by shootings and similar things?]
Let's see if we have this right. Some, number not stated, so-called white supremacist gang members may or may not live in Costa Mesa and they are not based in Costa Mesa, and they don't engage in intimidating particular neighborhoods, but are involved in criminal enterprise for financial gain. Is that about right?
We belabor this, here, because there are some bigots and anti-white racists in the city who try to criminalize beliefs rather than actions and who try to use emotional terms such as white supremacist etc. to brow beat others into silence no matter what their actual beliefs really are.
Some of these bigoted anti-white racists will no doubt use this biased report to claim that the real problem in gang activity in Costa Mesa is white gangs, when that's not really the case at all.
White Supremacists (Here's where we get a little philosophical)
Words mean things and they need to be properly defined. "White supremacists," holds its meaning in its two words. It's a belief that whites are supreme.
The term is silly. Supreme at what? Running? Jumping? Math? The fact is that nature (or God, if you prefer) has given all living things, including humans, certain abilities that are different than others in order to help these living things survive.
Even within each species there are differences caused by various adaptations, mutations, isolation and other factors over the centuries.
Nature "wants" life to survive and is constantly tinkering with things. For example, if you're white and alive today, you can probably owe that to a mutation that one of your ancestors in Europe had that kept them from dying from the Black Plague that wiped out most of Europe.
And, these natural abilities come from the genes. So, a group of people with similar genes will have similar abilities that may be different from a different group of people with slightly different genes. But, no group is supreme across the board. They just have different strengths and weaknesses. Is a horse supreme because it runs fast or is a lion supreme because it has claws? The question is silly.
Now, there may be white supremacists, or brown racists or black nationalists or yellow supremacists living in Costa Mesa and there may be all stripes of others with various beliefs, but the question is whether or not these beliefs are related to criminal gang activity in Costa Mesa.
In fact, the inclusion of "white supremacists" in this report and the complete failure to mention--even once--that most of the 300 members of the 7 gangs in Costa Mesa are Hispanic, appears to be an attempt to keep those with poor critical thinking skills from getting up in arms about the real problem in our city.
"See, Ward, the gang problem in Costa Mesa isn't caused by Hispanic gang members and illegal aliens--why, they're not even mentioned in the report. The real problem is white supremacists--they are mentioned."
The report also errs by citing efforts against gangs in Los Angeles to justify the conclusions of this report. It's apples and pears, folks.
Los Angeles is a huge area with many run down neighborhoods full of slums. Those slums are the breeding grounds of the gangs, just as the few slums in Costa Mesa are the breeding grounds of the gangs here.
Los Angeles can't remove all its slums because it would put millions of people (literally) out on the streets, while in Costa Mesa we only have a few slums that need to be removed.
And, that's what should be done. Remove the few slums in Costa Mesa and the gangs will move away, just as if you remove a swamp, the alligators will move away. All living things go to where they are comfortable.
THE REAL SOLUTION BASED ON REAL FACTS--BY THE NUMBERS
FACTS
1. Most of the estimated 300 gang members in Costa Mesa are Hispanic.
2. Most of them have ties in one way or another with Costa Mesa being an illegal alien sanctuary.
3. Most live in just a few run down slum areas of this city: Fillmore/Shalimar/Mission-Mendoza and an area around Hamilton/Wilson and Placentia. Put the crime frequency numbers on a map and you'll find the slums, the gangs and the illegal aliens.
4. Most Hispanic gangs carve out turf where they actually live. They need slums to survive.
SOLUTION
1. Stop Costa Mesa from being an illegal alien sanctuary.
2. Remove the run down apartments--the habitats for gangs. Without the slums, there would be very few gangs. You don't see gangs in Newport's neighborhoods or the nicer neighborhoods of Costa Mesa. The report itself tells us that these gangs are territorial--meaning in their own neighborhoods.
AVOIDING THE HARD WORK
This report is a formula to keep the physical conditions (slums) that breed crime and gangs while trying to make nice with potential gang members to keep them out of gangs. It won't work in the long run, but we'll, no doubt, be treated to some PR stories in the Daily Pilot about this or that kid who would have become a gang member but for this program. So, gee, open your wallets next year and pay more than you did this year to pay this protection money against crime instead of solving the problem.
Meanwhile, the slums will spread and we'll have more and more gangs and even more of our stable citizens will move away, while those left in the city will, year after year, be asked to pony up even more of their tax money to pay for things to work around the problems, instead of solving the real problems.
Thus, we now pay about $ 40,000 each year to return shopping carts taken from markets, mostly by suspected illegal aliens, instead of citing those who are taking the carts and having the stores secure them on site. What is this? It's a work-around--an accommodation of criminal activity--instead of a solution.
According to this report, in 2005, graffiti cost Costa Mesa citizens $ 97,528 to remove and in 2006 this had gone up to $ 254,690. What is this? It's a work-around instead of a solution.
Here's the increase in gang related crimes from the report:
2006/ 2005
Murder 1/ 0
Robbery 10 /1
Assault w/deadly weapon 16/ 4
Burglary 2/ 1
Total: 29/ 6
That's 23 more very serious Part 1 crimes in 2006 over 2005, folks.
As the illegal alien population of Costa Mesa has increased, the crime levels have gone up, the school scores have gone down, and our quality of life has suffered.
FINALLY, WE WANT TO MAKE THIS POINT AGAIN:
EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THE GANG MEMBERS IN COSTA MESA ARE HISPANIC, NOT ONCE IN THE TWENTY TWO PAGES OF THIS REPORT WILL YOU READ THE WORDS 'HISPANIC,' 'LATINO,' OR 'ILLEGAL ALIENS.' AND THE ONLY REFERENCE TO RACE OR ETHNICITY YOU WILL SEE IS 'WHITE.'
How many of the above Part 1 gang related crimes do you think were committed by white gangs? The report is silent on this, but our guess is that probably very few if any at all. That's the reality of it folks no matter who doesn't like it.
