The claim is negligence on the part of the city for not installing cameras in a park that was known to have gang crime problems.

And, in Costa Mesa, what do you think will happen if anyone is harmed in any of our parks that are known to have mentally ill homeless people wandering around where there are little kids and their parents trying to use the parks for the proper recreational purposes?  Right.

Weak seed Whites just eat this stuff up, because they're afraid to stand up and speak out as Whites.  Instead, they hide behind a Black man.  Is this guy Noir for real? These weak seed Whites often have their subconscious minds full of noblesse oblige racism.  One way you can spot such people is when you see they're overly polite to Blacks instead of just treating Blacks like they treat their fellow Whites.  Another way to spot them is when you see them go over the top to denounce supposed White racism--as we saw an OC GOP suit do last year when a White grandmother sent out a message against Obama.  This OC GOP suit was outraged, outraged, I say.  Yes, he was really, really, really outraged and he wanted everyone to look at him and see how really, really outraged he was.  He was way over the top in condemning this White grandmother.

Oh,and about Noir, we have a feeling that this guy understands he's being put in the window because he's Black, but our guess is that he also understands that this is a chance to get a leg up on making money and getting some fame, so he goes along with it.  It's one of those things in life about who is using who?

Which reminds us of what we've written before about Queen Bees.  We humans call them Queens, because all they do is lie around producing eggs while the other bees in the hive  take care of them.  But, are they really queens as we think of such things, or are they captives?

So, is the NRA using Noir, or is Noir using the NRA?  We think they're using each other.  So long as both sides know it and feel they're getting a benefit, it's fair.  In fact, that's what we all do when we work for someone or when we hire someone to work for us.

DOWNEY:  TWO LATINOS KILLED OUTSIDE SPORTS BAR

The above linked story is the only one we found, after looking at many stories on this crime, that gives the names of the victims--which indicates they were Latinos.

But even this story fails to give a description of the killers.  This is almost always the case when the killers are Black.

You see, there is a pecking order in reporting such things.

If the perps are White, this is almost always reported and their race is emphasized; and especially if the victims are not White.

If the perps are Latino their race/ethnicity is sometimes reported if the victims are also Latino.

 If the perps are Black they are seldom identified as such and especially if their victims are White.

However, if their victims are Latino, this is sometimes reported and this is also the case, but to a lesser extent, if their victims are Asian.

So, with the above in mind, the highest probability is that the perps in the killing of these two Latinos are Black.  Can we be certain of this?  No.  We're just saying this is the highest probability given the facts as we know them.

In life you have to play the odds.  You need to have at least some rough idea of probabilities. It's a matter of survival.

GOP REVIEW CALLS FOR CHANGES IN PARTY TO START WINNING ELECTIONS

Here's one line from the above linked column that caught our eye, because it's similar to what we've been saying here locally to some of our politicians: "Republicans have become too insular, frequently sound like bookkeepers...."

The CM PRESS would go further and tell Republicans to stop acting so uptight, and to start getting in touch with voters by being real.  Get dirt under your fingernails.  Change the oil in your own car. Don't always show up in expensive suits. Care about people.

But, we'd also tell them to avoid pandering.  It always comes off looking artificial.  Be genuine.  Be yourself.  Get in touch with that inner person that is not always right and who has flaws.

There is an example of a good politician here locally who has won election after election just by being himself and by not putting on airs:  Gary Monahan.

The CM PRESS has probably said fewer than twenty words to Monahan over the years, but we've watched him on the dais. Frankly, and we've written this before, if someone didn't know better, they'd think that Monahan is a Democrat--not because of his positions, because those are mostly Republican--but because of his regular guy manner.

Ronald Reagan had the same manner as Monahan, but few in the GOP seen to even understand that, and we bet some pols who read our words here won't get it either.

POLICE ESTABLISHED A PERIMETER AROUND MESA NORTH, CENTERED ON THE FILLMORE-COOLIDGE SLUM, THIS MORNING TO TRY TO CATCH AN ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

At around 1:00 a.m. this morning, and with the police helicopter flying low overhead, the CMPD and Sheriff's Department blocked many of the streets leading out of Mesa North.

Then, police officers, some armed with AR-15's, stopped all cars trying to leave the neighborhood to search them.

According to two police officers, the police were looking for a Latino in his 20's who was armed with a sawed off shotgun and who had been involved in a robbery sometime earlier.

Thanks Costa Mesa City Council for wasting our tax money on tearing up the perfectly good pavement in the Fillmore-Coolidge slums and replacing it with expensive new pavement.  Not surprisingly, this busy work sweet nothing didn't do anything to stop the crime in the area.

Earlier in the day we saw three Costa Mesa gang cops approach one of the slum buildings, but we couldn't determine what they were doing--maybe just checking in on some of the gang members who like living in the slums the way alligators like living in a swamp.

Now, we have new concrete alleys, all the same functionally obsolete slum buildings, violent criminals and gang members in the area. Swell.

Oh, and we have a Black rapist who is still in the area and who hasn't been caught and now we have an armed Latino robber (unless they caught him, which we doubt, because we think he just ducked into his slum unit).

So, City Council, if you really want to attract young, upwardly mobile families to Costa Mesa and stop White flight, you need to start thinning out the slums. Geez, get your priorities straightened out, will you?

And, stop letting staff justify their jobs by putting meaningless busy work projects in front of you that just waste our tax money.  Start leading.  Start taking the initiative.  Start focusing on the most important thing you can do to improve our city:  THINNING OUT THE SLUMS!

Some who have looked at this commission over the years believe it goes out of its way to try to  find problems and then tries to make them appear bigger than they are to justify its existence.

You may recall one of their "horror" stories of supposed racial hatred, that was reported in the last puff piece the OC Register ran about this group, about a Black woman who says that she was victimized in a market.  What was the horror that happened to her?  She claims that some people in the store, workers, maybe, were talking about chocolate milk and they weren't in the dairy department!!!!!!!  Oh horrors!  Mississippi burning!!!!!

When this commission asks for money and gives statistics about hate crimes, be sure to ask for the details on each and every one of those "hate crimes," and we'll bet you'll find many if not most are things like name calling after a traffic accident and similar things.  And, if the commission refuses to give you the details, start asking why.

Recently we've seen one puff column that says nothing substantive about this commission in the LA TIMES and now two in the OC REGISTER.

UTAH LAWMAKERS TRY TO GET OUT OF MESS STARTED BY UTAH GOVERNMENT IN ITS PERSECUTION OF THE FLDS

The background:  The FLDS follow the teachings of Joseph Smith, who founded the Church of Latter Day Saints (usually called Mormons), and other early church leaders.  This has put them at odds with the much larger Mormon church that most people are familiar with and which is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The larger, Salt Lake City Mormon church has consistently given up church teachings to, as some detractors have said, become the "Church of What's Happening Now."  This began when the U.S. government long ago refused to make Utah a state unless the Mormons gave up polygamy.  Those who did give up polygamy to allow Utah to become a state were the early leaders of the present  larger Mormon church in Salt Lake City.

Just as there is no greater anti-smoking advocate than a person who has given up smoking, so it happened that the larger Mormon church in Salt Lake City became a strong advocate against those Mormons--such as the FLDS--who still follow the earlier, original teachings of Smith and other early Mormon leaders.

So, over the years, the States of Utah and Arizona, which are both full of Salt Lake City Mormons, have tried to eradicate the FLDS and other polygamist groups in those states. The FLDS members traditionally have lived in two towns that straddle the border between Utah and Arizona. One is mostly in Arizona and one is mostly in Utah.

In 1953, the state of Arizona raided the town of Short Creek, which is the FLDS town that is mostly on the Arizona side of the border, and rounded FLDS members up because they practiced polygamy.  This made national news at the time, and eventually public opinion swung in favor of religious freedom and the rights of the FLDS to practice their faith as they saw fit.

However, the persecution didn't stop, and we've written extensively about it as it has happened in Utah and Arizona and more recently in Texas.

Today, bigots and haters attack the FLDS in much the same way they attack other religious groups such as Jews.  That is, they demonize the whole group based on the wrongful acts of a few members of the group and try to convice others that the wrongful acts of a few are the norm.

We've put this in many different ways, but we still think this makes the point best:  Suppose you have a pond full of alligators near your home and the alligators are dangerous to you.

Leece would ask that the City hire ever more people to guard you from the alligators.

A smarter response would be to drain the pond, and then the alligators would leave all on their own.

Don't get it?

Leece is constantly saying we should hire more cops.

It would be smarter to remove the habitats of the criminals--the slum buildings--and then the criminals would move away.

And, you don't have to pay pensions when you remove the slums--the source of the problem.

For years, various City Councils in Costa Mesa have gone behind closed doors and out of sight of residents and negotiated sweet heart contracts with City employees.

Then, we would often hear some of these City Council members burble about how wonderful our employees are and how we have the best employees in the whole state (yes, that's silly, how would one know that or even be able to compare them with employees in other cities).

Well, what they were negotiating behind closed doors and smiling and cooing about in public now has to be paid for by ordinary folks living in Costa Mesa.

We didn't negotiate the sweet heart contracts.  We had no say in what was going on behind closed doors.  Now, we're going to have to pay.

 If you own a home, you may have to pay hundreds of dollars extra each year for the next 20 years to pay for the pensions that the City Councils have negotiated.

Or, maybe we'll all have to pay additional sales tax--also for 20 years.

Or, maybe we'll have to pay both or even more in other ways.

Meanwhile, the present City Council that is trying to solve the problem of the pension giveaway is STILL hiring more employees who are adding to the burden.

And, short sighted Wendy Leece is pushing to hire even more employees. It's almost as though Leece is giving us the Scarlett O'Hara line: "I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow."

Look, folks, if you keep slums in a city, you will continue to have violent crime.  If you remove the slums, you will find that the criminals will move to greener pastures.  But, if you follow Leece's philosophy, you'll not remove the slums and just keep hiring ever more police officers to react after a violent criminal act has taken place.

And, remember, if you remove slums and put in additional parking or pocket parks, the parking lots and pocket parks don't get life long pensions.  And, if you do put these in, you can land bank and eventually have them developed with housing that will attract upwardly mobile people.

Leece thinks short term.  Maybe it's a lack of a brain problem.  We need to think long term.

BTW, Wendy pretends she's concerned about crime, but how much crime is there in her exclusive gated community?  How about none.  Wouldn't you like to have your neighborhood protected from "them," the way Wendy's neighborhood is protected?

Leece is part of the problem.  She is not part of the solution.

HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE DAILY PILOT HAS LET TOM EGAN'S LATEST CHILDISH PIECE OF 'HEY EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME' DRIVEL HANG AROUND IN THE PAPER LIKE A FETID AND STEAMING PILE OF DOG CRAP AND THAT IT HAS ATTRACTED THE USUAL GROUP OF HATE FILLED MAGGOTS WHO SAY THE STUPIDEST THINGS AGAINST THE GOOD COUNCILMEMBERS?

The last time this character Egan tried to pen something half bright, he told us about how he was using a sling shot to shoot at crows.  We took that as an admission of wrong doing, and we pointed out that one is not supposed to use a slingshot in the City nor is one supposed to be shooting crows [we even cited the laws]. We got the impression that  Egan wrote the whole thing simply so he could exhibitionistically use the term "murder of crows" in a sentence much as though he was a member of an ostentation of peacocks.

Tom is not new at penning crap. You may recall that the Pilot carried a long, unbelievably boring, column he wrote about bridges that sounded as though Tom was telling third graders from Mars, who had never seen a bridge, all about the history of bridges from just about the first log that had fallen across a narrow stream.

And, as we implied in our heading up above, we are now seeing a cowardice of curs, a cackle of hyenas   and a pandemonium of parrots all giving Tom atttaboys in his latest sour piece of  nonsense that offers no suggestions on how to improve the City, but just tries to knock the good councilmembers who are actually doing something--unlike, Tom, who does nothing but hide in the back of the raft of loons and  effetely whines when others take action.

You know the type:  Monday morning quarterbacks.  They never actually do anything themselves--they are not action figures, mind you--because they lack generative power, but when others do take action, this type of person is there to give us their usual piffle about how those who did take action somehow should have done it this other way.

"Oh, no, dearie, my, my, wouldn't have done it that way."  Well, which way would you have done it?  "Oh, I would have sat around with the clucking hens for a couple of years talking about our feelings, and then we'd sit around for a couple of more years talking about other feelings we have.  See, that's the way to do things.  It's all about process and not about goals.  We don't actually want to accomplish anything, we just want to talk about doing things without actually doing them.  You see, if you do things--if you take action--if you initiate; someone like us might criticize you.  So, we do nothing."

HERE'S the link to Egan's slobber about Rome and Costa Mesa.  Be sure to shoo the flies away from this stinky mess if you bother to read what he wrote.

So, keep fiddling while Rome burns, Tom.  You live on the Westside, and although you may think you're far removed from the Westside slums and problems--living, as you do, on the bluffs near Wendy Leece--those problems are real and they just might personally affect you if they are not corrected.  And, to correct them takes action, not idle talk or silly columns in the Daily Pilot.  It takes citizens demanding that the Council start focusing on improving the Westside.   And, how can the Council ever focus on the Westside when they constantly hear Westsiders, such as you, who can't seem to focus on the area in which they live, who whine about everything except the conditions on the Westside?

It's time to take stock, Tom, and it's time to saddle up again and demand improvement.  If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Improvement of the Westside took a hiatus due to the recession, but now it's time to reactivate all the individuals who got us to the point where the City at least came up with Westside Plans.  Now, it's time to implement those plans.

And, notwithstanding my comments above, your help in getting those plans implemented  would be welcomed.

UTAH SUPREME COURT SAYS JUDGE MADE MISTAKE IN FLDS CASE

We believe the article gets it wrong when it says the FLDS can't do anything about the error because it wasn't challenged in time.  In fact, because this impacts an important First Amendment right relating to religion, I'd expect competent legal counsel to try to take this to the U.S. Supreme Court.

What's going on here is that the FLDS is being persecuted and there are those who are trying to destroy the church via the courts.  We think U.S. Supreme Court justices would also see things this way and would take the case.

More and more Whites are waking up and are saying things such as: All of this violence and social dysfunction is not caused by Whites, so why are we taking it?  Why do the weak seed White elites among us keep trying to lump us together with those unlike us who are creating the problems?

And, at some point, ordinary Whites are going to start distinguishing themselves more and more from the weak seed Whites among us who are helping create the climate where Whites are being attacked at will, by non-White criminals.  Call it class warfare aborning.

THE MIASMA OF CITY HALL

The CM PRESS has seen it time and time again.  People get elected to the City Council or get appointed to the two Commissions and they soon lose their way and their common sense and become caught up in the minutiae and stop leading.  Bold leaders turn into clerks and secretaries.

We've heard it from politicians about the Westside.

They say: "CM PRESS, we can't improve the Westside and especially W. 19th Street because the lots are too small and there are rules in place, put in effect by previous Councils, that force the automobile traffic to be kept artificially low."  Or, they say: "We can't improve the Westside, because we don't have the money to do the things in the Westside Plans and we have no money to buy up slum buildings."

The CM PRESS says BS!

It has to do with having a vision and the will to do it and it has to do with knowing what leadership means.

As elected and appointed officials, you are supposed to INITIATE.  Then, it is up to staff to IMPLEMENT.

Remember Jimmy Carter?  He turned himself into a clerk and secretary and worried about minor things such as setting the schedule for the tennis courts at the White House.

Ronald Reagan, on the other hand, governed with broad strokes.  He initiated and let others implement.

So, in concrete terms what is the CM PRESS saying?

Just this:  The Councilmembers [and to a lesser degree the Planning Commissioners] should realize that fixing the Westside is key to fixing all of Costa Mesa and they should make that their priority.

Then, they should convey this to staff.

They might, for example, say to staff:   "We want to make W. 19th Street  a more upscale shopping street so that it performs better for the city.  And, we see that too many police resources are being used up by the Westside slum areas.  Thin out those slums. You, staff, figure out how to do that and do it."

I recall an incident where a billionaire was asked how he could tell if he had good managers.  His reply was something like this: "If one of my companies has been making bicycles for a hundred years and I go to my manager of that company and say, 'One year from now we are going to be making spaghetti and not bicycles and I want us to be a leader in the spaghetti business,' and I then go away to an island in the South Seas and only come back in a year, and find that my manger succeeded, that's a good manager."

It is up to the Council and the Planning Commission to set the vision and it is up to Staff to make that vision a reality.

HEY, CITY COUNCIL, HAVE THE CMPD CRUNCH THE NUMBERS FOR YOU

We constantly hear that we need more police officers because of crime in the city.

Well, where, exactly, is the crime in the city that requires these more police officers?

Is it in Mesa Verde?  Is it in Wendy Leece's gated neighborhood?  Is it on the Eastside?

Which neighborhoods are contributing the most crime?  And what are the characteristics of those neighborhoods that may be different from lower crime neighborhoods?

Here's our  answer to the last two questions immediately above:  Parts of the Westside--very small parts--the parts that are full of functionally obsolete apartment buildings, are sucking up a disproportionate amount of police resources and are busting the budget.  Remove or thin out those apartment buildings and they'll stop being crime generators and safe havens for gangs and criminals and will be nicer and safer areas of the city and will save lives and money.

And, City Council, ask the CMPD for a crime map--say, with red pins for violent crimes--that clearly shows where most of the crime occurs so you don't have to waste your time wading through pages of details and bureaucratic doublespeak.

Just look at the map and the red pins and you'll see the pattern.  Then, it's up to you to INITIATE and to tell staff to IMPLEMENT realistic and meaningful plans to make those areas crime free.  And, City Council, don't accept kumbaya crap about planting flowers in front of the slums or about how group hugs will change things.  Demand real solutions, not huggy kissy crap.

Stop wasting time, City Council, with goody two shoe feel good solutions that are not real solutions at all.
