CM PRESS # 984

ONE OF THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 3Ms AND THE CM4RG AS WE SEE IT--GIVE THE CITIZENS A FISH OR GIVE THEM A FISH HOOK

The CM PRESS believes that the 3Ms feel that the best way to improve Costa Mesa is to free up money to use to fix streets, sidewalks, parks and eventually to buy up and raze slum buildings and crime infested motels. We believe this is the best way to  attract upwardly mobile families back to the city who, by their presence, will help the whole city and its schools improve.

The CM PRESS believes the CM4RG folks, on the other hand, feel that the best way to improve Costa Mesa is to hire more City workers, including more police officers, et. al.

We  liken the two ways as being similar to the old adage about giving a man a fish and he'll be hungry the next day, but if you give him a fish hook, he'll never go hungry.

We see the 3Ms as offering the fish hook, while the CM4RGs are offering a fish.

SOME HAVE ASKED ABOUT MY POLITICAL VIEWS

I'm a registered Republican, but I have a strong streak of libertarianism.

That means I believe in personal freedom and personal responsibility, and I think the government should stay out of people's lives as much as possible.

Now, about my libertarian bona fides:  I was one of the first members (probably about the fifth member) of a very early libertarian group in New York City called The Society for Individual Liberty.  This group predated the Libertarian political party by about five years.

We would meet and try to formulate principles that we could all agree on (talk about herding cats) and we would try to spread our message.  I remember at one meeting, we asked our membership secretary how many members we had, and he replied that since we believed in so much personal freedom we had no way of knowing who was a member and who wasn't. The group also published at least one of my early writings.

How did I originally get involved in libertarianism?  Prior to moving to New York for acting, I lived in Washington, D.C. and was dating a girl who got a job in the office of Young Americans For Freedom (YAF).  As a result, I went to some of their functions during a time when that group was talking a lot about libertarianism  and I agreed with a lot (but not all) of their philosophical positions.

David Nolan, one of the founders of the the Libertarian Party was also a member of YAF, in the '60's,but I don't remember if I ever met him or not.

John Stephens (a lawyer with
offices in Newport Beach)
JOHN STEPHENS (he's a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) HUFFS AND PUFFS IN HIS LATEST SELF-SERVING COLUMN IN THE DAILY PILOT TO TRY TO SHOW THAT, GOLLY, HE'S JUST A REGULAR GUY

Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach, don't you know) seems (to us at least) to have fallen out of bed one day a couple of months ago and perhaps (we imagine) said something like this as he admired himself in his three piece, pinstripe, pajamas in the mirror [put Vaseline around the edge of the camera lens at this point for dreamy fictional sequence]: "Golly gosh, I'm John Stephens, and I'm a liberal Democrat and a lawyer (with offices in Newport Beach), so I think it would be fun to get a seat on the Costa Mesa City Council. It'll be a neat hobby for a swell guy like me. And, I'll show those peons a thing or two. Yup, before I take my kids to their private schools I'll announce my candidacy." [Fade to black.]

And, since that time, Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) has been spending his time telling everyone that he's a lawyer (with offices in Newport Beach). But lately, the peons don't seem to be too impressed with that, so in his above column in the Daily Pilot (HERE it is again), Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) wants you peons to know that, shucks, he's "scraped plenty of congealed nacho cheese from the bottom of the CMALL snack bar crock pot."

We kid you not. That's what Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) wrote. Why, shoot howdy, he's just a regular fella with nacho cheese on his fingers.

Harold Weitzberg
Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) is also the guy who went to court to keep you peons from voting on the charter back in June. Remember?

So now, we have Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) joined with Harold Weitzberg, another liberal Democrat, and Sandy Genis trying to take over the City Council where they will no doubt do their usual liberal nonsense and shut down the improvement of Costa Mesa and spend our tax money like crazy as they hire ever more redundant workers on the City payroll to super-size local government again.

Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach) and Weitzberg seem to have something else in common.  Stephens (a lawyer with offices in Newport Beach), as we mentioned above, helped keep you peons from voting on the charter in June, and Weitzberg tried to keep you peons from hearing what a man had to say at a City Council meeting by shouting him down.

Do you peons see a pattern here?

HATCH MEMO VS. HATCH ACT

In the above linked Daily Pilot article, we read that Erwin Chemerinsky seems to indicate that Costa Mesa CEO Tom Hatch's original memo about political participation of City employees was fine as it was and didn't need revising (as the CM PRESS had suggested in CM PRESS # 979).

Chemerinksy is quoted: "In fact, the government even may prohibit all political activities by its employees, even off work, as does the federal Hatch Act, for civil service employees," Chemerinsky said. "The Supreme Court has upheld this and rejected 1st Amendment challenges."

That's not totally correct.

Under the Hatch Act, the government may restrict some employees from some activities, but the above statement gives the impression that all employees and all activities can be prohibited.

By the way, and as far as we know, CEO Tom Hatch and the long deceased politician who the Hatch Act was named after are not related. But this is a neat bit of synchronicity, is it not?

We have to believe that Chemerinsky was misquoted or misunderstood by the Daily Pilot, and we expect to see Chemerinksy correct things once he reads the article.

We expect to hear a loud "What the...." coming from his office at UCI.

It would have been nice if Chermerinsky had given the reporter the actual Supreme Court case citations that he refers to in his above quoted statement to further clarify things.

BIG UNION WANTS TO TAKE OVER THE COSTA MESA CITY COUNCIL--ALL THEY NEED  IN ORDER TO DO THAT AND TO STOP IMPROVEMENT IS 3 LOUSY SEATS ON THE COUNCIL

Sandy Genis--Union supported candidate.

John Stephens--Union supported candidate--and an
attorney with offices in Newport Beach.

Harold Weitzberg--Union supported candidate--and the guy
who bragged about shouting someone down at
the very podium you see Weitzberg at in this photo.
All that a union (or labor federation or association) needs to do to take over the Costa Mesa City Council and, thus, the whole city, and  turn the city into an ATM for out of town employees, and stop the improvement of Costa Mesa, is to win three seats on the Costa Mesa City Council.

That's it folks.  If Big Union gets three seats on the City Council they can stop the improvement of our city dead in its tracks and they can start hiring redundant union workers by the score to return to the days of big bloated government full of workers who make more than most citizens of Costa Mesa make in the private sector.

The Orange County Labor Federation has picked its three candidates to take over the Council.

They are Sandy Genis, Harold Weitzberg, John Stephens (he's an attorney with offices in Newport Beach).

HERE'S the link to the federation's endorsement page.

Watch now, as the usual dimwits say "Hey, it's not a union, it's a federation," just as they tell you that there's no police union in Costa Mesa.  It's an, er, association.

Weitzberg, you will recall, is the guy who bragged in a letter to the Daily Pilot [HERE] that he helped shout down a speaker at a City Council meeting and he even wrote that he'll do it again.

Genis has been flitting (literally) around Costa Mesa for years, but Stephens (the attorney with offices in Newport Beach) and Weitzberg (the guy who helped shout down a speaker) seem to have just fallen out
of their respective beds one day and decided to run for the Council.   Really, had you ever heard of these two before the present election season?

LEST YOU FORGET
(Click on form for larger version)

This is a required filing from the Costa Mesa Police Officers Association IEC from the last election.

It shows that this group spent a whopping $ 12,122.72 on a mailer supporting Wendy Leece.

Now, why would the association, composed of many police officers who don't live in Costa Mesa, spend so much money to elect a City Council Member in this city where they can't even vote?

What was in it for them?

Do you think they cared for the improvement of Costa Mesa and thought that Wendy would help with that?

How about the schools, do you think they were concerned about schools far from their own families and children and thought Wendy might help with improving them?

What about our roads and parks, was that a concern for them?  Do you think they thought that Wendy would be a good solid vote for roads and parks?

Hmmmm.  Now, why would the police association spend so much money to try to elect a Council Member
like Wendy Leece?

BTW--This isn't the only money the association and related groups spent to try to elect Wendy and defeat fiscal conservatives.

Sign recently installed by City Council after the CM PRESS
reminded them that such a sign is in the
Westside Plans

WELCOME!

If you've just recently discovered the CM PRESS, welcome.

Here's a brief look at what we're about:

We are for the improvement of Costa Mesa.

We see this issue as transcending left/right politics, but it so happens that most of those who we think are on the right track right now do happen to be conservative.

We believe our city can be a true shining city on a hill and we've been working for years to help that vision come to pass.

We first started publishing the CM PRESS as The Community Watchdog in late 1999 and at that time, we faxed it  and hand distributed it.  Then, as the years went on, we switched to this blog format.

Back when it appeared that forces were working to turn the Westside into a permanent and official ethnic ghetto, we helped form the Westside Improvement Association and worked with many others on a different vision for the Westside.

It's a vision that sees the Westside as a slightly Bohemian, upscale place to live, work and visit.  It also sees W. 19th Street as an urbane shopping street with a slightly different flavor than South Coast Metro and E. 17th Street.

This  vision is contained in the Westside Plans that you can find HERE

We believe the 3Ms--Steve Mensinger, Gary Monahan, Colin McCarthy--all family men, either with children in our public schools or whose children will be in our public schools when they're old enough, and with true emotional investments in our community, are the best candidates this year to help move the Westside Plans along.

Although the Westside Plans are largely based on bringing in private money to help transform the area, public money is also needed to improve the infrastructure and correct some of the problems that have developed over the years.

This public money has largely been lacking in the past because we had a bloated municipal government that skimmed off most tax revenues for salaries and benefits and left little for the infrastructure.

The present good Council Members have started changing that and have now freed up money to fix infrastructure.  The 3Ms promise to continue this process.  We like that.

BUENA PARK TO CONSIDER GETTING RID OF ITS POLICE FORCE AND USING THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

And, you better believe that many citizens in Costa Mesa are wondering if we might be better off by going the same route.

Frankly, many Costa Mesans don't trust the CMPD because of the actions of what the citizens think may be a few bad apples.  The problem is that since the names of the bad apples are not given except in rare circumstances, citizens don't know who to trust and who not to trust.

CLICHE RIDDEN LOCAL COMMENTER KEEPS WHINING ABOUT THE IMPROVEMENTS THE GOOD COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE MAKING
Geoff West  slouching

Click on almost any column or letter in the Daily Pilot that tells about the improvements the good Council Members are making and you'll more than likely see some snarky comments from this pathetic character West.

Then, click on almost any column or letter, also in the Daily Pilot, that attacks the good Council Members and once again you'll see comments from this West character but this time seconding the negative comments.
Geoff West standing

And, then, West's comments will be followed by attaboys from the small group of other lefty dimwits and Democrat apparatchiks.

West apparently sees himself as being part of some sort of rapid response team against the good Council Members and also against the 3Ms.

And, West claims he's a Republican. Of course, anyone can register for any political party, so that doesn't mean much, does it?

West has no children

If you bother to read West's crap, just consider the source. He's a bitter old man who has never had children and thus can't relate to the real problems of families in Costa Mesa.

West knows nothing about the schools because he's never had kids in them, and never will, yet
he recently tried to tell Steve Mensinger what the schools should do.

Mensinger, in case you aren't aware, does have kids in the local schools and Steve and his wife put in countless hours trying to make things better.

And, Steve could easily put his kids in private schools as do many of his neighbors in Mesa Verde, but he hasn't done that.  His kids are in our public schools.  That's how you really learn about the schools--by having kids there.  That's something West will never know.

You can't understand the concerns of families if you don't have one

And, what about the concerns of our families trying to eke out a living in a tough economy all the while seeing food and clothing prices go ever higher and knowing that their kids need good food and nice clothes?  What does West know about that?  Nothing.

West has to feed himself (which, as you can tell from the photo of him standing, he seems to do pretty well) and his wife.  What's that cost?  Not much.

When you're a parent your concerns for our City are very real and not just theoretical

Compare West to guys like Gary Monahan, who West also whines about.  Gary has six kids.  Six little mouths to feed.  Six kids to clothe.  Six kids needing all the things that kids need. Six kids to set aside money for so they can go to college. Six kids who get sick and who need to go to the doctor.  Six kids who need to go to the dentist.

Yes, consider the source when you see that pompous ass West trying to lecture families in Costa Mesa about what they should do.

West has none of the concerns of parents in our city, so he can pontificate about all sorts of things and can be a hobbyist in our politics, while the families who want to raise their kids in a nice safe environment with good schools are the ones who are hurt when the wrong people--such as lefties--get on our City Council.

CM PRESS # 981

Anti-Righeimer sign used by
some cops.
WE'RE STILL ASKING:  WE KNOW WHO WAS FOLLOWING RIGHEIMER, BUT WHO WAS/IS FOLLOWING MENSINGER, MONAHAN AND BEVER?

Don't be naive and think that Righeimer was the only target.  He only has one vote on the Council.

The lefties need three votes to get their way.

That's the simple math of it, folks. All the lefties have to do is get three puppets on the City Council and they can own the city and keep robbing citizens blind.

And, do you doubt that  extremist lefties won't go to any lengths to get those three votes?  They'll throw thousands of dollars into election campaigns to try to elect puppets, but if that doesn't work, do you think they won't resort to bribes and threats and intimidation?

And, what about that stinkeye investigation?  Which CMPD cops were involved?  What are their names?

How about the brick through Monahan's window?  Why haven't we heard anything?

What about the cops who secretly tried to smear Reigheimer when he politely questioned them about a bad choice for a DUI checkpoint?  What are the names of those cops?

Now we have the PI and the 911 call that had the cops go right to Righeimer's home and pull him outside. Why aren't we hearing anything about that?  Which CMPD cops were involved in that? You just have to suspect that there were some involved in some way, even if it was just to tip off the PI about Righeimer's movements.

#                            #                                        #

VERY CLEAR CHOICE FOR VOTERS THIS YEAR IN COSTA MESA

Elect conservatives who will do things to attract upwardly mobile people or elect lefties who will continue doing things that will make Costa Mesa a new skid row where illegal aliens, various other criminals, and homeless people will feel comfortable.

Or, as we often say at the CM PRESS:

The conservative candidates will drain the swamps and the crocodiles will leave all on their own.

The lefty candidates, on the other hand, will feed and cuddle the crocodiles, have group hugs with them, plant flowers in front of the swamps, march around the swamps with candles while shedding crocodile tears, and then they'll hire ever more cops to try to keep the crocodiles from eating and chasing away upwardly mobile families.

With the conservative approach, the problem is solved.  Crocodiles like swamps and will move to a different area when our swamps are drained.

With the lefty approach, you'll just attract more crocodiles and you'll never be able to hire enough cops to keep them from eating citizens and chasing away upwardly mobile families.

Or, if you don't like our crocodile example, put it in any terms you want.  The simple truth is that a City is its people.

If you want to attract upwardly mobile people, you need to do the things that will attract them.

And, if you still don't understand the above or pretend that it isn't true, then tell us why so many upwardly mobile families in Mesa Verde refuse to send their kids to Costa Mesa schools.

If many of these parents were forced to put their kids in Costa Mesa schools, they'd sell their homes and move to Cities where they could put their kids in schools where their kids could get a leg up on life.

No, there's nothing wrong with the physical aspects of Costa Mesa schools or the teachers or the administrators.

A school is rated on the students.  If the students score high on standardized tests, the school is considered a good school.  That's not what we find in some schools in Costa Mesa, and upwardly mobile parents want the best for their children so they're putting them in schools where the students do score high.

But, it's not just about schools.  We need to improve all of Costa Mesa and the way we do that, again, is by draining the swamp.

And, what about the lefties, where are they sending their kids to school?  Well, we hear that one lefty NMUSD board member who lives in Costa Mesa has put her kids in schools in Corona del Mar, and a lefty candidate for the City Council has his kids in private schools.

Now, lefties will always come up with PC reasons for not putting their kids in Costa Mesa schools, but their reasons usually ring hollow.

It's like lefties who move out of cities when they become less White, who will tell you that, gee, they just needed a bigger home or a smaller home or this or that.  Did their move have anything to do with the changing demographics of their city? "Why, no, of course not, why, er, ah, some of our best friends are..."

8)  The value of the SRO program is undeniable as a tool to head off gang involvement. When you poll your Mesa Verde neighbors about WHY they move their children to other schools I suspect one of the first things mentioned is safety. Removing the SRO's was a BAD idea.

9) " You didn't do squat! What you have done is completely demoralize the staff by your heavy-handedness and micromanaging.

10) I'll tell you, Steve, I had a good belly-laugh You crow about "listening" to people with your now-infamous "coffees".r smug smirks, belittling remarks and disrespectful comments.  you can be the dictator you've demonstrated to us that you really are.

Had a good belly laugh!
Looking right!
In his point 8), West, who has never had children, and who is not involved in the schools, tries to lecture Steve, who does have children, and who has been actively involved in the schools for years, about the value of the SRO!

What do you think?  Does West sound  bitter and angry? Does he sound like an almost cartoonish version of an old man who resents those who are actually doing things, while he does nothing but carp about what they are doing?

When others--people full of life and vitality--make decisions and do take action, West is there--after the fact--to tell them that if he had done it, why, by golly, it would have been done this other way. Of course, he has never really initiated anything to improve Costa Mesa that we are aware of.  Does anyone know of anything West has done to help improve Costa Mesa?  Does anyone have even a single example?  We can't think of anything.  This guy's MO is to slump in the shadows and then whine and complain all the time when others act to solve problems.

He writes of calumny where none exists and apparently sees life as a half-empty glass instead of one that is half-full. He exclaims (a lot) about the sky falling and the city being "destroyed" whenever the good Council Members make decisions to get our finances straightened out and our infrastructure improved so that we can attract upwardly mobile people back to our city.

A city is its people. If a city has a high crime rate, it's because of its people.  If a city has a low crime rate, it's because of its people.  But this guy apparently can't see that in his short sighted view of the world around him, and thus he doesn't understand that Costa Mesa is competing for the best citizens with newer cities to our south and that to attract these people, we need to improve our infrastructure, rid our city of the slum buildings and the crime infested motels and build the things that will make Costa Mesa the place to be, and not the place to flee.

A city full of criminals can never hire enough cops to keep the crime rate low.  A city full of productive, upwardly mobile citizens just doesn't need as many cops, because it is naturally almost crime free.

CEO HATCH SENDS A MEMO...BUT IT MAY NEED SOME REVISING

Costa Mesa CEO Tom Hatch  has sent a memo to all city employees giving guidelines concerning what they may and may not do to support or oppose candidates and ballot measures.

Click on the headline above to go to the Daily Pilot's copy of the memo.  The Pilot's accompanying story is HERE.

We think the memo may need to be tightened up in at least two of the guidelines:

 Don’t make public statements or press appearances in favor of or against a candidate or
ballot measure during normal work hours, during official city meetings or break times.

At the very least, the coma after "hours" should be removed.  This would make the intent clearer.

However, it would be better to reword the whole sentence. We believe the intent is to tell employees that if they are on the city's clock and there are official meetings during that time that they shouldn't speak during those meetings. This would include but not be limited to City Council meetings and City Council study sessions as well as to other official meetings.

Furthermore, "normal work hours," needs to be changed.  Suppose an employee is asked to work overtime, would he or she be able to speak at official meetings because the overtime is not during their normal work hours.  We don't think that's the intent of the memo.

 Don’t use City facilities such as the council chambers or an official City worksite to

This should be reworded.  When off duty, City employees may, as is the case with any other citizens, go to the council chambers and advocate for a candidate or ballot measure.

MARINES HEADED TO LIBYA TO BEEF UP SECURITY

About 50 Marines headed that way.

You say 50?  That's all?

Well, what the above news story isn't telling you is that there is more than likely at least one Marine Expeditionary Unit (about 2,200 Marines)  on board an amphibious assault ship such as the USS Bonhomme Richard just over the horizon ready to land if needed.

Man suspected in a kidnapping seen leaving slum building in the 3000 block of Coolidge, shot at by CMPD

C'mon City Council, start thinning out the slums in Costa Mesa by buying up slum buildings and turning them into mini-parks and parking lots.

The slum buildings are breeding grounds, safe havens and hospitable habitats for criminals.

Remove the slums and the criminals will leave.

79% OF CHICAGO 8TH GRADERS NOT PROFICIENT IN READING

You've probably been hearing the above on the radio all day today or maybe you've seen it in newspapers.

This statistic is usually tied in to news about the teachers' strike, so those who don't know all the facts will think the lousy reading ability is tied in to lousy, money grubbing  teachers who just want more money and more benefits while they're doing a bad job of teaching.

Well, there are a couple of facts that most sources didn't tell you:.

Chicago schools are 85.7 % non-White and they're only 8.8% White.

Draw your own conclusions.

Eleanor Egan

ELEANOR EGAN HAS A COMMENT FOLLOWING TOM EGAN'S COLUMN

In her comment [HERE], following her husband Tom's column expressing his fears that Costa Mesa might become an oligarchy [ALSO HERE], Eleanor lectures us about what it takes to maintain a democracy.

Interestingly, both Eleanor and Tom are listed on Harold Weitzberg's Website as supporters.

Tom Egan

So, Eleanor and Tom, do you think it's good for democracy to have your friends shout down speakers who have the floor at City Council meetings?  Hmmmmm?

Is that the kind of democracy you want in Costa Mesa? Is that how you define democracy?

In fact, Eleanor and Tom, the photos of both of you above show you standing at the podiums at a City Council meeting.  Many people don't agree with your positions.  Did they shout you down?  And, did anyone say that if you speak again, they'll shout you down again?

Let me answer for you.  Even though many people don't agree with many of your positions, no one shouted either one of you down and no one that we are aware of threatened to shout you down if you speak again.

JOHN STEPHENS (He's an attorney with offices in Newport Beach) AND SANDY GENIS, SEEM TO BE SILENT ON WHETHER OR NOT THEY THINK IT'S OKAY TO SHOUT DOWN SPEAKERS AT CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS

Sandy Genis
John Stephens (he's an attorney with
offices in Newport Beach,)
Well, Genis and Stephens (an attorney with offices in Newport Beach), what do you think?  Is it appropriate to shout down speakers who have the floor if you don't agree with them?

BTW, in the photo of Stephens (the attorney with offices in Newport Beach), Stephens (the attorney with offices in Newport Beach) is actually telling the City Council that he's an attorney [with offices in Newport Beach] (we kid you not) and that he can help the Council pro bono.

This begs the question. Why would Stephens, a liberal Democrat, think the mostly conservative Republican Council needs his help with anything?  Does he think the Council Members are a bunch of rubes? Does he question the legal advice of the City Attorney?  And, what about that pro bono stuff.

Libertarians have an expression about that:  TANSTAAFL-- There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

[The photo of Stephens (the attorney with offices in Newport Beach) is from the January 10, 2012 City Council meeting].

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE INVESTIGATION OF THE  911 CALL MADE BY A PI?

Is this just going to be swept under the rug like the stinkeye investigation?

Folks, we think there's much to be revealed about that 911 call by the PI that goes far beyond that one call.

Look, all anyone has to do is get control of three votes on the City Council to have the Council give away the store to them.

Do you think that Jim Righeimer was the only target?  Do you think there was only one PI?

Remember, Wendy Leece will already vote to give away the store. So, all they need are two more votes.

Who else can they work on to  demonize, scare, or buy in order to get those two votes?  Well, there are only four other  Council Members, and they aren't following Wendy's lead, so we already know who the potential targets are.

Righeimer has already been revealed as one target, has he not?

Who was/is following Mensinger, Monahan and Bever?  Hmmmm?  And, what about that brick through the window of Monahan's restaurant?  We still haven't heard anything about that investigation, have we?

Who benefits if two more votes on the Council go the way of Wendy?  Hmmmm?

Folks, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes or his smarter brother Mycroft to follow some of the plain leads that you can see right in the newspaper, and there are other leads from a few years ago (that the authorities are aware of) that should also be followed.

WOMAN DECIDES TO MOVE INLAND

In the above linked column in the Daily Pilot you'll  read about a woman who has gotten tired of the traffic and the noise that is common in Newport Beach, and how she's decided to move inland where it is more peaceful.

You have to go all the way to the bottom of the column to realize that "inland" means Costa Mesa.

Folks, the CM PRESS has long touted Costa Mesa as a very nice alternative to Newport Beach.

We have the ocean breezes, and the beach is close, but we don't have the beach crowds, the beach traffic and the beach noise.

Costa Mesa has the perfect location.  Now, if we can just improve the Westside, get rid of some of the magnet non-profits, the crime infested motels, the functionally obsolete slums, and a few other problems... our city will really be the shining city on the hill.

CRIME AND CRIMINALS NO LONGER BEING CONFINED TO THE WESTSIDE

How do you like it Costa Mesans who don't live on the Westside?

Now do you understand why so many of us wanted to improve the Westside?

But, what did many of you do?  You simply gave money and time to the non-profits that exist there.  And, the people who want the freebies kept coming and coming and coming.  Now, they're all over Costa Mesa and they're still coming, because the freebies are still available.

And, it wasn't just you fine folks with the pathological altruism psychological problem who live in Mesa Verde who are helping increase the crime in Costa Mesa, it's also the fault of some of the pathological altruists who live in Newport Beach who you see on the front pages of the Pilot smiling and showing how compassionate they are as they travel to Costa Mesa to help those less needy.

Of course, they then jump in their cars and head back to Newport Beach before it's dark, while those of us who live in Costa Mesa have to put up with the crime.

LEFTIES TRY TO PROVOKE CONFRONTATIONS

Here's a couple of examples from our personal experience about how some of the lefties try to harm others.

INCIDENT # 1: At a City Council meeting, a lefty intentionally and forcefully  threw his shoulder into me as he was walking by me. I was about to respond in kind when I realized that the lefty had some friends with him who would say I had attacked the innocent lefty.  And, my guess is that the lefty would have fallen to the floor crying about the vicious attack.

So, I didn't respond. That's why you didn't read about this in the newspapers.

INCIDENT # 2: At another City Council meeting, one of the lefty political cops from the cop clique was on duty and he came to my seat and gruffly told me I couldn't save the seat next to me for someone I was expecting.

He then said:  "What did you say to me?"
I replied: "Nothing."
He went on: "You just swore at me."
Me:  "Nope."
Him:  "Yes, you did."

So, this was looking like it was getting out of hand, and the cop had taken an aggressive stance and seemed to want to provoke something. Anyone who knows how street thugs often operate is used to the "What did you say to me?" question, when you've said nothing or only said something not at all offensive.

I could see where this was going, so I remained seated.  Had I stood up, I suspect the cop would have claimed I had attacked him, and since he was in uniform and armed, you can see where things might have ended up.

Unfortunately for this guy, who may no longer be with the CMPD (but, we're not sure), and just by chance, one of the most liberal of the liberal  ministers in the City was sitting one seat over from me and the minister had witnessed and heard every word said by both the cop and me, and the minister backed me up. I not only hadn't sworn at the cop, I was perfectly polite.

And, that's also why you didn't read about this incident in the newspapers.

What's the point I'm making?  The lefties try this crap all the time.

They'll try to provoke you and then claim you were the aggressor.

We know many of you can probably cite similar stories if you're at all active in the city and if you are conservative or support the 3Ms or the Good Council Members.

Just be aware of this lefty tactic.

TRIVIA:  I may be one of the few people in Costa Mesa, who you hear referring to Rules For Radicals, who has actually read the whole book. The copy in my personal library was printed in 1972.  That's also when I bought it. The first printing was in 1971.

Tamar Goldmann
GOLDMANN TRIES TO DEFEND WEITZBERG

Harold Weitzberg
In her comments following Harold Weitzberg's letter to the Daily Pilot [HERE], in which Weitzberg writes that he helped shout down a speaker, Kevin Dayton, at the public podium at a City Council meeting and further says that he'll shout the speaker down again if he tries to speak, frequent Good Council Members critic and speaker at City Council meetings, Tamar Goldmann writes:

"It is rumored that the “union thugs” in the audience, never seen before by the regular council attendees were brought along as supporting actors for Dayton, and may have gotten the protest started."

We kid you not. That's what she wrote.  Be sure to read  Goldmann's full comment and you'll also see that she claims the opponents of the Good Council Members are "quite a mannerly group."

Ho hum. File those comments with the "rumors" that Monahan threw a brick with a threatening message through his own window and that Righeimer was somehow behind having a PI call 911 on him.

And "quite a mannerly group"?  Well, folks, the CM PRESS goes to a lot of City Council meetings and we constantly hear critics of the Good Council Members and those who support them, making loud moans and coughing sounds when they don't agree with the speakers.

If you watch the Council Meetings on TV, you may not hear the disruptions because the microphones are in the front of the chambers and are designed to block out room noises. But, when you see supporters of the Good Council Members or the 3Ms speak at the podium and you notice them looking back at the audience (which is out of your view) it's often because someone in the audience has shouted something or made some loud rude noise.
