JUDGE IN RIGHEIMER CASE LETS DISCOVERY MOVE FORWARD

As we wrote back when the haters were gloating about the judge not letting robust discovery take place, and only allowed a deposition of the gum shoe who followed Righeimer, and then the gum shoe clammed up and took the 5th more than 200 times, that this wasn't a win for the anti-Righeimer haters; it was a Pyrrhic victory (which is really a loss) and we said this would be revealed as the judge was then duty bound to open up wide discovery--which has now happened.

A plaintiff has a right to his or her day in court and a plaintiff also has a right to discovery.  A trial is a search for truth, and those who try to frustrate that search for truth often end up just pissing off an honest judge, and the truth still comes out.

Don't be surprised if this case reveals some very dark matters that reach far beyond Costa Mesa.

Remember, Watergate started as a simple break-in.

FIRST AMENDMENT WIN IN NORTH CAROLINA

The University of North Carolina-Wilmington harassed and denied a professor a full professorship based on his newspaper columns that took a Christian and a conservative view of homosexuality and other public issues.

The Court has now ruled that the University must pay back wages and give the professor his promotion.

60TH ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE WRAP MEETING

BASIC RULE: You can always delegate authority, but you can never delegate responsibility.

The CM PRESS attended the meeting last night.  And, we have four words for why there were so many problems with the 60th Anniversary Party: Incompetence, stupidity committee, bureaucracy.

With all the people involved in putting on this event, and with the budget established before the event, you'd think someone would have realized that things were out of control.  Why didn't anyone speak up?  Why didn't higher ups get running reports of what was going on?

Look, let me put this in clearer terms.  If you're the captain of a ship, you must rely on those below you in authority to do certain things, but you don't just let them go crazy.  You keep an eye on what's going on. You get frequent reports on the speed and direction of the ship and all other important matters--and you make corrections on the fly. Sure, there's lots going on, but  as the captain you're supposed to be in charge.  And, if those below you can't do the damn job, replace them before the friggin' ship runs aground!

What we see (from a distance) going on in City Hall is that incompetents are not replaced.  Instead, more people are hired for the Fifth Floor to try to plug the holes left by incompetents.  And, instead of seeing top people taking responsibility, we see attempts to share responsibility with crowds so that no one person ever seems to be responsible for mistakes.

At the meeting last night, speakers were told to not name names of people involved in the party who they felt were part of the problem.  Well, that may sound like a friendly way to handle things, but it is people--individuals--who do or who don't do things.  It is individuals who are ultimately responsible.

The CM PRESS left the meeting at around 7:30 while it was still going on.  It was boring and we got tired of listening to stupid people saying stupid things.

Interestingly, the room where this meeting was held last night was crowded with all the new computers the City recently bought to replace perfectly good computers.  You may recall, we spoke out and wrote against buying all new computers for everyone in City Hall and we recommended doing rolling replacements so the City would always have state of the art machines where most needed, but the City Council went ahead and approved the massive replacement all at one time.  Stupid.

Folks, there's something wrong in an organization when charter papers can't be delivered on time and when the organization can't put on a simple little party and stay within budget and can't even follow best practices in buying computers.

Let me bring up a person who should be near the top of the organization: Peter Naghavi.  As I wrote in the past, Naghavi was the guy at City Hall who kept many things working smoothly.  Every well run organization has someone like Naghavi.  You don't always see what they're doing, but things just run smoothly when they're there.  Such people have personalities that keeps them on top of everything.

Let me explain it this way.  Have you ever worked in an office where the coffee room would always be out of coffee or coffee cups, or where the bathrooms would always be out of soap or other things? And, have you ever worked in another office where there would always be coffee and coffee cups, and the bathrooms always had soap, etc.?   What do you think the difference was between those two offices?  The answer is that the second office had someone on board like Naghavi who just silently made sure everything was as it should be.  Now, I don't mean to say that Naghavi was responsible for the coffee and similar things, because, in fact, he was much higher up on the totem pole, but the point I'm making is that when you have someone with the right personality in your organization who just keeps things running smoothly as a natural product of his or her personality,  fewer things go wrong.

And, of course, Peter Naghavi, has now retired from the City.  Some believe he retired because he was passed over for the Asst. CEO position.  If true, that was a big mistake in City Hall.

My guess is that if Naghavi had been put in charge of the 60th Party, there wouldn't have been many problems at all.

You'll often hear very successful people say that they're successful because of the people they've hired. Sometimes this may seem like false modesty, but it's often true.  Successful people seem to have a way to identify and attract the best and brightest people to make them a success. Less successful people seem to lack that talent of identifying and attracting the best and brightest.

I GET MENTIONED AGAIN

This pitiful character in these photos gives me a mention again in his lefty and unoriginal blog today.

He even got a nice photo of me to brighten up his otherwise meaningless, dead-end life and dreary existence.

Say, on second thought, maybe I've got this guy wrong and maybe he's a secret fan who is just upset because I told him to never talk to me. Folks, I really do try to be polite to everyone, but this guy, well....

Hmmmm, do you suppose he may have put my photo up on his wall to look at me admiringly and shed a tear that I want nothing to do with him? This guy does seem to have an unhealthy obsession with me. Why else would he keep bringing me up, as he did today in his blog, when I didn't even say anything at the meeting last night?  Hmmmmm?

When I was growing up there was a pudgy kid who looked something like this guy in my school who the other kids used to pick on.  The pudgy kid would cry all the time and I felt sorry for him, so I came to his defense.

Unfortunately, because I came to his defense the pudgy kid thought I wanted him to hang out with me. Being a kind and compassionate person I had a hard time trying to avoid him after that. Now, it's not just that the kid was pudgy and weak that was the problem.  He also just wasn't very bright and had nothing of interest to say. In fact, he was a total bore.  I was only able to finally shake that pudgy kid, who grew up to be a pudgy adult, when I went in the Marines.

Several years ago, someone from my old home town said the pudgy kid--then an adult--had passed away and that he had never had any children.  Natural selection at work.

FRANCE'S LE PEN DOESN'T WANT SCHOOLS TO CATER TO RELIGIOUS REQUIREMENTS FOR FOOD

The French eat a lot of pork, and Le Pen doesn't want to have to cater to immigrants and others who do not want to eat pork.  It's a simple matter of separation of church and state as well as honoring traditional French food, and not letting religious minorities dictate to the majority.

In a larger sense, this is a step toward ensuring that the French are not forced to accept other un-French religious edicts from various religious minorities.

When in France, do as the French do or leave.

This is called Cretons in Quebec but Gorton or Corton in coastal Mass., and in the latter it is pronounced as Kutung (the first "u" is almost a short "a," and the "g" is almost silent).

What could be healthier than a pot full of pork fat?


3 lbs ground pork
3 minced onions
3/4 c water
1 t black pepper
1 t cinnamon (add more to taste if desired)
1 t ground cloves (can add more)
1 pinch garlic

Cook in pot on top of stove for several hours over low heat until all the water/fat is absorbed.  Mash constantly with a potato masher as it cooks.  Let cool for several hours in the refrigerator. It should have the consistency of  a spreadable pate.  Use as a spread on crackers, bread or bagels.

WHITE MEN VOTE REPUBLICAN BECAUSE THEY'RE SUCKERS

The author of the above column makes the mistake of accepting a false White Male/White female dichotomy when the reality is that both White males and White females are in the same White boat and both are suckers for voting Republican (or any other party) and not asking for something in return.

However, his larger point (after removing the gender divergence error) is that  all Whites are suckers for not demanding something in return for voting for anyone or for any party.

So, what should Whites ask for? Equal representation based on our racial/ethnic status, just as other racial/ethnic groups get it.  And, we should demand this, not in vague general terms, but with a call for something concrete and doable--a White Legislative Caucus.

To repeat: Whites should demand our own White caucuses in all legislative bodies in all fifty states and in D.C., just like every other racial/ethnic group.

Here's what I wrote before about this, and I include this once again because it is bulletproof in its logical consistency and includes links so even some Whites who run from being White may understand that Whites--that's all of us as a group and as individuals--are getting screwed by not having our own caucuses to represent our White interests.

EUROPEAN-AMERICANS NEED A CAUCUS IN THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE

It was recently announced that State Senator Marty Block, (D-San Diego), started the Legislative Jewish Caucus and that this caucus will also form a political action committee to raise money for Israel-friendly candidates. Block told the press that the Legislative Jewish Caucus "isn't a religious based organization.  We see this as an ethnic organization."  This statement was presumably made to both forestall Muslims from starting a Muslim Legislative Caucus and also to head off complaints that the Legislative Jewish Caucus is breaching the wall between religion and state.

At any rate, the Legislative Jewish Caucus, as an ethnic/racial organization, now joins the  Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Legislative Black Caucus and the Latino Legislative Caucus.

These caucuses work, sometimes behind the scenes and out of public view, to represent the interests of their ethnic/racial  groups.  They write legislation and take other actions on behalf of their particular ethnic/racial groups even though the people they are acting on behalf of may not live in their districts. In other words, unlike the traditional American political notion that people elected to public office represent a specific geographic area, these ethnic caucus members represent "their people," no matter where they live in the state.

An example of what the members of these ethnic/racial caucuses do was presented in the Daily Pilot recently in a story about State Assemblyman Roger Hernandez, a member of the Latino Legislative Caucus, who has authored a bill that would force cities such as Costa Mesa to end city wide voting and replace it with district voting.  District voting is a scheme that will lead to gerrymandered districts in Costa Mesa, in an attempt to include Latino voters in certain districts and exclude White voters from the districts.

On the welcome page of the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus we read this:  "[T]he Caucus was founded in 2001 and serves to represent and advocate for the interests of the APIA community...."

On the Website of the Latino Legislative Caucus we read: "The Mission of the California Latino Legislative Caucus is to identify, promote and advocate on behalf of the professional, educational, social, political and cultural interests of the Latino Community."

And, on the Website of the Legislative Black Caucus we read: "The continuing mission of the CLBC is to provide our unwavering commitment and support to our goal of achieving full inclusion of our state’s Africans American residents in every aspect of California life – from education and employment to housing and health to commerce and government services."

So, there you have it.  Four ethnic/racial organizations all advocating for the interests of their people.  Who advocates for White people?  No one.

Now, some who haven't kept up with the news may say that a White Legislative Caucus isn't needed because Whites are in the majority in the state.  Actually, we're not.  Latinos have ether reached numbers parity or have exceeded the size of the White population.  Some others may argue that Whites are not an ethnicity, but a race, and that we shouldn't lump the various White ethnicities (or people who originated in many different European nations) together under one rubric such as White.  Well, the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus lumps various Asian and Pacific Islander populations together, and the Legislative Black Caucus is based on race.  

I'll ask and answer this question once again:  Who represents Whites and White interests?  No one.

It's time to change that.  Will we now see some White legislators start a White Legislative Caucus?  Probably not.  Why?  Because Whites have been so brow beaten about race that it seems many are even afraid to order a gallon of white paint at the hardware store lest they be called racist.  The result of this racial intimidation that Whites have undergone for years is that Whites are left without any real representation for their particular interests (and we have many) in the state legislature.

Those timid souls who are so brow beaten that they run from the word "white," can simply use the term European-American if it makes them feel more comfortable.

DUMBEST STATEMENT FROM SOMEONE FROM THE FIFTH FLOOR OF CITY HALL IN OUR MEMORY

In the above linked Daily Pilot article about the possibility of Costa Mesa annexing a piece of land on the border with Newport Beach, Asst. CEO Rick Francis is quoted as saying:

"'The fact is, they already have a Costa Mesa ZIP code. And we don't expect there to be any change to their property values'" whether the area is annexed by Costa Mesa or Newport."

NONSENSE!

Most, if not all, of the intelligent people who live there would much rather have a Newport Beach address than a Costa Mesa address, and one of the reasons is because Newport is seen as an upscale city.  This alone increases property values.  There is much more prestige in saying you live in Newport Beach than saying you live in Costa Mesa.

However, the CM PRESS would like to see that area be incorporated into our city, because the people who live there are exactly the type of demographic we need to help keep Costa Mesa from looking like a slum city on demographic reports.  We don't want to lose upwardly mobile, productive citizens to Newport Beach.

Get ready for a PR campaign from some of those who want the area to be incorporated into Newport Beach.  They'll try to avoid talk of gangs in Costa Mesa, and illegal aliens and slums and they'll say things about really loving Costa Mesa and, golly, it has nothing to do with our large illegal alien population and Latino gangs, and slums and the charities up the ying yang, but, golly, Newport is, ah, better at, er, ah, trying to keep John Wayne Airport small, yes, that's it. "Why, we truly love Costa Mesa, but that darn airport is near us and, gosh, we'll just have to try to be annexed by Newport. It really bothers us to have to leave Costa Mesa, but, well, you know, that airport thing is a big deal."

This is OUR city.  This is where WE live.  This is where WE raise OUR children.  This is where WE go to the supermarket.  OUR tax money should be spent HERE and on US--it should not be taken by the truckload to other cities by OUR employees and spent there.

THE SPREAD OF 'DEBATE IS OVER' SYNDROME--O.C. REGISTER COLUMN BY JOEL KOTKIN

This may be behind the paywall.

The thrust of the column is that there is a demand for conformity of views in society and a lack of free speech due to this demand for conformity. As his jumping off point, Kotkin uses the lawsuit filed against Mark Steyn after Steyn made fun of global warming and a scientist pushing that idea.

Kotkin then uses the example of the resignation of the CEO of Mozilla this past week because of pressure from homosexual groups that were upset that several years ago this CEO had given a thousand bucks to a group fighting for traditional marriage.

Kotkin would have more credibility if he didn't exclusively use relatively uncontroversial examples of demands for conformity of views and pointed out that the same thing exists in spades relative to people who want to question any aspects of the so-called Holocaust. And, Kotkin's credibility would also be increased if he hadn't fudged and said that he might agree with some lefty views.  C'mon Kotkin, if you believe in free speech, and that's what your column was about, then stand up for free speech and don't wimp out.

Kotkin, in this column, I would argue, is a little like the guy who puffs up his chest and yells: "I stand firmly for mom and apple pie, and I have the courage of my convictions."   You, of course, realize that there is no risk in such a statement. Such is the case with his column, but it's still worth a read by those who are inclined to try to brow beat others into either silence or conformity with their "accepted" views.

I GET CALLED A WHITE SUPREMACIST...AGAIN--HO HUM, YAWN--AND WHAT I BELIEVE by H. Millard © 2010-2014

I was called a white supremacist again recently (and not in a good way) by one of the usual low I.Q. lefties whose mouth is bigger than his brain and who apparently doesn't understand that words have meanings. Usually I don't bother with bigots like this, but maybe this is a good opportunity to discuss what I believe; since it may also be of some minor interest to others who may also have similar beliefs and who have been called names by the bigots. A white supremacist is one who believes in white supremacy. This is defined by Wikipedia as: White supremacy is the belief, and promotion of the belief, that white people are superior to people of other racial backgrounds. I checked many definitions of the term and the above is fairly representative. None of the definitions I've seen, including the one above, fit what I believe. Thus, by definition, I can't be a white supremacist. Truth be told, I know too much about evolution to believe that one type of organism, including one type of human, is across the board "superior" to other organisms. This just isn't the way life adapts and evolves. Superior? At what? In what environment? No organisms are superior or inferior across the board, they are just different. But this begs the question about what I do believe about human beings and human races. Unfortunately, for those who don't like reading a lot of words, I have to start way upstream from human beings and work down to them in order to explain how I've arrived at my views on human beings. Nevertheless, I'll try to keep this as mercifully short as I can. Naturally, this will entail leaving out a lot of details.  If you want the details, you can find my essays all over the internet or you can read my books. GENERALLY: I believe in the ways of existence. [You can stop right here if you want.  What follows just explains what this means to me.] THIS MEANS (in part): I believe in cosmic evolution (continual change throughout existence). I also believe that existence started from absolute nothing and began with a single point--a First Cause.  I believe that change is the only constant in the universe including on Earth. This includes changes in organisms, including humans. I further believe that every organism in existence or which ever was in existence or which will ever come into existence is also its own single point that may or may not cause a branching off in new directions. Thus, you and I and every other organism are single points.  If we reproduce, we have started branching off.  If we don't reproduce, we are dead ends. ABOUT LIFE ON EARTH: I believe that DNA (and the genes that are part of DNA) is the major determinant of the way life "IS," on Earth and that all life on Earth evolved from the forces started by the First Cause that started everything and which eventually led to the evolution of the first molecule of DNA. This first molecule of DNA was a "single point," between so-called non-living matter and living matter.  This first molecule of DNA--this spiraling, code carrying, miniature cornucopia and life force--then started expanding, like the universe itself. From out of that first molecule of DNA started pouring forth an endless supply and variety of life constantly being modified so that  DNA would survive and fill all niches where life is possible. The process of the expansion of the DNA continues as new forms of life mutate, branch off and evolve out of earlier forms. This march of the DNA is a natural process and is never ending as DNA automatically and endlessly "tries" to fill all of existence with itself and constantly tinkers with life in order to survive under all possible conditions.  As it branched off, this first molecule of DNA retained its basic core code that reads "life." All other parts of the code were remarkably changeable so that living organisms carrying the DNA code would be able to come into existence and not only survive, but be comfortable and able to make a living in every possible environment. If you've ever scratched your head when you've seen science articles about humans being this or that percentage the same as apes, or rats, or flies, or even bananas, you needn't wonder about it. The reason we share so much with all other living organisms is because we all came from that first molecule of DNA that crossed the threshold from so-called non-living matter to living matter. It is not the similarities that are most important to us, but the differences. And, in the world of DNA, very "minor" changes can have major effects. DNA is DNA no matter what organism it is in. The only difference is in the shuffle of the billions of combinations of the four chemicals that make up DNA. AS FAR AS HUMANS GO: I believe that humans are just one of the countless billions of life forms that came from that first molecule of DNA. Just as there was a single point--the First Cause--that has been expanding and evolving ever since it began, so too was there a single point of every type of organism including humans.  This first true human--a single point--then became, largely through natural selection, the first cause of all  humans. WHITE PEOPLE: A sub-species of homo sapiens; a branching off from other human types. I believe that there was a single point White person who was one of the descendants of people who probably arrived in Europe from other places. This single point White person; or, to be more precise, the mutated genetic code he or she carried, then expanded via natural selection and eventually became the norm for Europe as the individuals produced from this particular genetic code proved to be the most fit for the European environment. I believe that Whites not only evolved the outward characteristics that we can easily see--skin color, hair color and texture, eye color, bone structure, head shapes, etc. but that we also evolved internally, including in the way our brains work. Now, to be clear, when I speak of a "single point" as with a single point White person, it's not really as clear cut as it sounds. I believe that  a person was born with a genetic mutation that made him or her whiter than others at that time. And as science now tells us, whiter skin allows for the production of more Vitamin D in less sunny climes and thus helps prevent rickets. This person thus had a survival advantage over others. This let him or her live longer to produce more children. Some of those children carried the white skin gene mutation and passed it on to even more children.  Over the centuries, due to natural selection, the gene(s) for white skin won the battle with the darker skin genes in Europe and replaced them. OUR PRESENT SITUATION: I believe that today, as never before, White people are an endangered sub-species and that we face  extinction largely due to the modern lack of isolation and the attendant gene transfer called miscegenation, and also because of  abortions, birth control, and by purposely having fewer children than we can have who share our genetic code with our mutations that make us, us. OUR DESTINY:  I believe that destiny is not predetermined and that our highest destiny can only be achieved by avoiding the things that hold down our numbers and keep us from teeming. In this regard, I believe that we need a certain critical mass of our kind of human for us to progress. I further believe that we must follow a certain path in life (described in my many essays). Suffice it to say, here, that the path requires right thinking and the right actions that follow that right thinking and that the most important part is to have as many children in our image as possible. CONTROLLING OUR DESTINY: I believe that the changes  we see that constitute evolution are nature's default settings.  I believe that we can change those settings to our advantage and that we can control our evolution so that we not only do not go extinct, but so that we expand just as we once did when we started as a single point in Europe when we branched off from the rest of mankind. ISOLATION NEEDED: I believe that because White people are a later evolutionary development, that our White genes are not as fixed as those of other peoples, and that this is why it takes two White parents to make a new White child.  In other words, most of our unique genes are recessive. In the past, and with our European isolation and social taboos about miscegenation and abortion and without modern birth control measures, we were able to reproduce as nature intended us to.  Those days are gone, and we must adapt to a new reality and we must now make conscious decisions to continue our evolution. CONCLUSION: There you have it; some of my basic beliefs. But there is much more that flows from these basic beliefs.  For me, these beliefs are what answers many of the big questions about existence. Most of my essays and books--even my fiction writings--deal with many of the details that naturally flow from these basic beliefs. The difference between humans and other organisms is that we can study and understand the automatic ways of nature and we can act to change the course of evolutionary history if we have a proper understanding of what it's all about and if we so desire. As I indicated above, I believe that we can change the default settings of nature so that we evolve in the best direction for us, and we can leave blind hit and miss evolution to organisms that have less consciousness. And, no, this does not involve false eugenic ideas about breeding the few and the best. I believe that is counter productive.  In fact, I believe that to change the default settings of nature, we have to breed willy nilly with our own kind without being overly picky about our own people who we produce children with. Nature screams out: Make more like yourself or you will be replaced.  We have to start listening and we have to start acting.

WHITES HAVE THE MOST NEANDERTHAL GENES

If you are close to or are 100% European in your ancestry, you probably have around 2.7% Neanderthal genes (this is a good thing). These genes give you certain survival advantages--that's why these genes were selected by natural selection and why they have persisted.  Black Africans with no White genes have zero Neanderthal Genes.

WHITES ESCAPE FROM CHICAGO

The linked article and graphics are PC and are focused on the supposed economic decline of Chicagoans, but the reality is that what is happening is White flight.  There are strong correlations between White flight and lower incomes, more crime, poorly performing schools, and a darkening of the population.

The people (mostly Whites) who gave Chicago a solid middle class forty years ago, as shown in the graphics, have moved and have been replaced by non-Whites.

White neighborhoods and cities are safer, nicer, have more income, have lower crime.  It is this way everyplace on the planet.  It's a White thing.  People, no less than birds, build the types of "nests" that their genes tell them to build.

I'm sure the current city council will be pleased as punch to know that they have an avid fan in the form of the guy who wrote the "city council doers" letter, above. Yes, sir, considering his body of work and the views for which he has become internationally notorious, I wonder if he will be embraced in Mayor Righeimer and Lee Ramos campaign camps. Certainly, he is entitled to his views, just don't forget where he's coming from. If they hold him at arm's length while he praises their tactics how does that square? Comes now, one Diana Gardiner, a personage unknown to me, to the left leaning pages of the Daily Pilot [HERE] to take umbrage with my earlier column [HERE] (which, as I've written before, was unceremoniously edited by the Daily Pilot and turned into a mere letter with my name at the bottom instead of at the top where I had originally placed it, and then hidden under another letter about water conservation, where few readers, other that Ms. Gardiner [and that sad character, with the Brobdingnagian morphological feature that is anterior to his posterior, who (writing now about the sad character), darkly advised readers that I'm known internationally, and who was confused enough to wrongly think I don't want people to find my writings, and who thus gave a link to one of the many Websites that run my international essays on the so-called human condition, and which include further links to where my books may be purchased; do go right now and buy them]--who (writing now about Ms. Gardiner), boldly asserts that contrary to my expressed opinion, government should not, in Ms. Gardiner's lofty view, be run like a business.

And to bolster her point, Ms. Gardiner then flails about in a failed attempt to try to distinguish business as a whole from government as a whole by cherry picking certain distinguishing aspects of business that are unlike government. Then, after her less than brilliant analysis of the cherry picked aspects, Ms. Gardiner triumphantly concludes that because not all aspects of business are like all aspects of government, that saying that government should be run like a business is, well, not appropriate and perhaps, if I may be permitted a term not explicitly used by Ms. Gardiner, even taxonomically incorrect.

Now, dear readers, with such a low level of understanding of similes, metaphors, plain old analogies, common sense comparisons of relevant aspects of the items under comparison, and even their more robust cousin, poetic license, I am indeed lucky that I had not penned a column (turned into a letter) that posited the notion that "government should be a well oiled machine," or, dear readers, we might see Ms. Gardiner now telling readers with great aplomb, as though she is first to understand this, that machines aren't human. Why, machines are often made of metal. Some use electricity or gasoline or coal to operate, and not one of them really, really cares about human feelings, really.  And, furthermore, a government--including Costa Mesa's government, is actually the people behind it, and, as such, those people behind our government, such as, but not exclusively those on our City Council, should not be regularly oiled like machines, and besides, oil comes from under the ground and we all know that government is above ground, for the most part.  Therefore, Ms. Gardiner might conclude that government should not be a well oiled machine.

Background:  Nature is a frugal engineer.  It causes adaptations for reasons.  It doesn't cause long term design changes in organisms unless there is some reason for it. With these three previous sentences as background, you can understand why scientists have wondered for many years exactly why Zebras have stripes.  Now, at least according to statistical evidence, it seems it may have to do with keeping insects, and particularly flies, away.  However, this now has to be demonstrated in the wild.
