If the death of Kelly gets police departments to start weeding out people who should not be cops, at least some good will come of this.

CMPD REPORTS MAN COMMITTED SUICIDE AT FAIRVIEW PARK TODAY
Here's the press release from the CMPD...
"On 08/22/11, at 1259 hours a patrol officer was on routine patrol of Fairview Park when he observed a 1990 blue Honda sedan occupied by a single male. The male was sitting in the front passenger seat. The officer conducted a routine license plate inquiry that revealed a traffic warrant for the registered owner. Suspecting the occupant was the individual identified on the warrant, the officer approached the vehicle.
"When the officer approached the vehicle, he contacted the male and detained him outside the vehicle. The officer identified the individual as the same subject listed on the warrant. After a few moments of conversation, the subject abruptly got into the passenger seat of the vehicle, ignoring the officer’s orders not to do so. The subject armed himself with a handgun. Fearing for his life, the officer fired one round, which did not strike the male, according to evidence at the scene and conversation with the medical staff. The subject then fatally shot himself.
"The incident is being investigated by the Costa Mesa Police Department and the Orange County Coroner. Following standard policy, the Costa Mesa Police Department notified the Orange County District Attorney’s Office regarding the shooting. Based on the evidence, the District Attorney’s Office declined to investigate.
"In May of 2011, the male subject had been reported to the Costa Mesa Police Department as a suicide threat. In that case, the subject had left a suicide note threatening to shoot himself in Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. At the time of the May 2011 report, the subject was living out of his vehicle and could not be located.
"Due to this being an ongoing investigation, the name of the deceased male and officer are not being released at this time."

THE REVOLUTION CONTINUES IN COSTA MESA
The New Council is doing a root and branch reform of our local government and is making it more accountable to the improvement minded citizens of Costa Mesa.
And, as usual, the half-dead running dogs of the old order continue to howl ineffectively.
Be sure to read the comments after THIS column in the Daily Pilot to see what we mean.
Our local government is being right sized, it's more transparent than ever, and priorities are being straightened out.
But, this is not what the old order wants. They want a bloated government with lots of expensive redundancy, an opaque government that hides their massive salaries and benefits from the tax payers, and priorities that focus on silly fluffy things that do not give long term improvement to Costa Mesa.

ALL HORSES BLEED RED BLOOD
I received a most interesting call on my phone the other day from none other than Joey Bigears.
Now, Mr. Bigears has been on my missing persons list for a couple of years and I suspect that he may have been on the lam, but I am not one to enquire of such things as I do not wish to intrude into the personal life of Mr. Bigears, he being a stout fellow and a stand up guy and one known to resort to fisticuffs or an ever present shiv--several of which he usually has secreted on his person--when he gets agitated. But I do not wish to digress.
"Hey Boss," says the unmistakable voice of Joey Bigears coming out of my phone. "Ya gotta see what I just bought. See, I figure, that youse being a guy what knows youse way around and how to negotiate stuff that I can cut youse in on a deal I got working."
So, Joey Bigears tells me of his present location, which I will not repeat, lest my perception of him being on the lam is correct and lest this information fall into the wrong hands. However, I do proceed to the location of which I am apprised. And, what do I see upon my arrival at the aforesaid unspoken location, but Mr. Bigears standing next to an Equus ferus caballus.
This, of course, was no great surprise to me as I had already given such a likelihood a high probability in my mind based on the nature of the unspoken location relayed to me by Mr. Bigears.
"This is Greased Lightning, Boss," says Joey Bigears with a broad smile on his face. "I just bought him from some guys who needed cash fast. They say he's a thoroughbred race horse. Now, for reasons I do not wish to divulge at present, I cannot be seen around no race tracks, and the other guys living here ain't too sharp, so I naturally thought of youse and I figure you can be the front man and get Greased Lightning into some races so we can make some money."
"Joey Bigears," says I, to Joey Bigears, after I take a couple of seconds to look at Greased Lightning, "you have bought yourself a plow horse, not a race horse. From the looks of Greased Lighting, I suspect he is a Suffolk Punch. He is thus strong, but also not very fast."
"Hey Boss, all horses bleed red blood," youse know. "All we gotta do is teach him to run real fast. You know, kinda like what humans do to help some kids learn as much as other kids with that, what's it called? --Head Start stuff. Yeah, see, we'll just do a Head Start racing program for Greased Lighting. We'll teach him to run as fast as race horses."
"Mr. Bigears," I reply, "Head Start is a failure. It does not work and you can not teach a plow horse to be a race horse. Different breeds of horses have different natural abilities. It is in their genes."
"And, Mr. Bigears, I do not wish to be accusatory, but with my advanced state of consciousness and intuition I have ascertained as a tentative theory based on your most recent palaver, of no more than a few seconds ago, that you may have been in the company of liberals who have told you nonsense and filled your brain with platitudes that are meaningless soporifics used to trick easily suggestible people clustered around the center of the Bell Curve on intelligence.
"Mr. Bigears, of course all horses bleed red blood. So do all mice and cats and dogs and other mammals. However, this means nothing in the present context in which you and I are conversing as two gentlemen of our esteemed stature are often want to do. Greased Lightning cannot compete in races against race horses any more than they can compete in pulling contests against him.
"My suggestion, Mr. Joey Bigears, is that you learn to run real fast to get away from liberals as quickly as possible. And, my further suggestion is that you do this running on your own two feet, instead of riding on Greased Lighting, because you can probably run faster than your horse.
"Remember, Mr. Bigears, stay away from liberals. They have deformed tiny brains, and have no understanding of nature and nature's ways for living organisms. If you wish, you may sell Greased Lightning to liberals. If they tell you he is not a race horse, just tell them that all horses bleed red blood."

THE COSMIC SANITARY DISTRICT(Back for a third time by popular demand, as we say in the biz)
As Joey Bigears and I are walking down the street on the Eastside this fine April day, a small ugly dog starts following us while nipping at my new imported five buck shiny shoes manufactured of all man made materials in China.
Joey Bigears asks why I do not just kick the noisy beast. Joey Bigears is like this. He is a man of the streets who packs a shiv in his belt and who has a tattoo of a green squid on his right arm.
Now, do not ask me why Joey Bigears has such a tattoo of a green squid on his right arm. I do not know the answer to this question and I do not care to ask Joey Bigears about this subject. It is of no moment. I do not care. If Joey Bigears wishes to volunteer this information, I will, of course, perk up and listen attentively, as the most polite and genteel person that I am. But I do not wish to disturb Joey Bigears with small talk questions about the green squid tattoo on his right arm as we walk down the street on this particular fine day.
Joey Bigears, you will understand, is a good fellow. But, he lacks finesse and refinement, as we say in the polite and genteel company to which I am more accustomed at Skosh Monahan's fine establishment for Bog Irish gentlemen.
Joey Bigears does not know that this word Skosh is not Gaelic, but Japanese, and I do not choose to tell him this fact that I know, lest he think the joint may not be an authentic Irish pub.
I do not often bother Joey Bigears with such dissertations of my extensive knowledge, for this would be a digression and I do not wish to be perceived as a know it all. In addition to running this gin joint, the proprietor, one Skosh Monahan by name, also serves on the Costa Mesa Sanitary District where he recently voted to raise our sewer rates. And, he also serves on the Costa Mesa City Council where he regularly votes to spend our money.
I tell this information I posses to Joey Bigears and this does not make him very happy. I sense the loathing coming from Joey Bigears at having his sewer rate raised. Being that Joey Bigears is a man of action, often known for taking matters into his own brawny hands, I quickly tell him that he must not write bad words on Skosh Mohahan's bathroom walls about this troubling turn of events.
"Kick it?" I retort, as I finally deign to answer the most probing question that Joey Bigears asks me about this dog nipping at my shiny new shoes . "I will not kick this creature, my good Joey Bigears. This would be a most ungentlemanly thing to do. I pity this dog that is so ferociously but impotently nipping at my shiny new shoes. It is, I divine, trying to get attention to put some meaning into an otherwise meaningless life.
Says, Joey Bigears: "Boss, with all due respect to your superior and most excellent way of looking at things in the world around us, which comes from your most excellent observations of nature, I do not think that this mutt is doing that which you say that it is doing. I think that this mutt is just intent on masticating your new shiny shoes. I sense in my innermost self that this dog is not very existential. I believe in my being of beings that it may just be as nasty inside as it is outside."
"Joey Bigears," says I, "you must try to understand the finer points of the psychology of those who are born as losers and you must attempt to be compassionate toward them. We must treat this poor creature with all the noblesse oblige feelings that we can call up from our souls. It is indeed sad that nature has not been very kind to this canine that you see right before your squinty blue peepers at this very moment; which is most busy nipping at my shiny new shoes.
"This is obviously a stupid creature. It is most indubitably very ugly. It is clearly weak. It smells bad. It has a foul disposition and it is old. On the plus side of things, well, in truth, Joey Bigears, I cannot, at this moment in time, think of anything on the plus side of the ledger for this nipping dog."
"Now," says I, to Joey Bigears, after a few moments of silence, as we are continuing to walk down the street, "I happen to know the history of this particular dog. You see, in addition to the clearly visible problems of this most unfortunate mutt, it is also sterile."
"Says Joey Bigears to me: "You mean it does not got no germs, Boss?"
"No, my dear Joey Bigears," says I, "and, despite your most unfortunate and uncouth double negative, this is not what I mean at all. I mean that Mother Nature has a way of keeping such problems from being passed on--Mother Nature has let this dog live, Joey Bigears, but has made it so that it can not reproduce to pass on its many afflictions. There are no more little nasty dogs born of its loins in its foul image. When this one is gone, it is gone for all eternity."
I continue: "This poor despicable mutt already has one paw in the grave. It is not, as we say, Joey Bigears, in the best of health. But, the real problem that I discern with this mutt, is that it has wasted its life in being bitter and hateful. Now, Mother Nature is coming around the corner with a handful of Karma to return the favor. Mark my words, Joey Bigears, there is a balancing in the universe that takes strange forms and surprises those who do not understand the unseen and interweaving forces as they work upon each other and flow and swirl eternally.
"The big wheel just keeps turning. What you put on it here, comes back around. Do not try to understand this Joey Bigears, I speak of physics and the subatomic particle world."
"You mean that it is like a Lazy Susan, Boss?" asks Joey Bigears."
"Indeed," says I to Joey Bigears. "It is like a Lazy Susan or like a merry-go-round. Put something bad on it here and it'll come back around. Put something good on it and that will also come back around. You decide what you put on it in life. This most despicable mutt nipping at my shiny new shoes has put bad on the merry-go-round. Stand back, Joey Bigears, lest you receive some of that bad that is coming back around.
"You must remember, Joey Bigears, that I am a respecter of all life. This is why I will not kick this unfortunate dog as you have suggested. Even though it is not my fault that this mutt has so many things wrong with it; out of my most wonderful kindness, I will let it nip at the heels of my shiny new shoes and I will let it think in its tiny brain that it is important. But, just as I will not kick it, I will also not acknowledge it. I shall walk on and I shall do nothing to it.
"Mother Nature has a higher purpose for this mutt. The higher purpose is that it is a walking bag of fertilizer. That is its purpose and that is its only purpose. You do not think it would be fitting for Mother Nature to simply hike up her skirt and carry bags of fertilizer from one place to another so the earth would be fertile, do you Joey Bigears? That would be most unladylike. That is why she has designed mangy mutts like this. The mutts do the job for her and in return, she allows them to live out their lives, miserable though they may be. So, you see, Mr. Bigears, Mother Nature is the big Sanitary District in the sky, and she flushes all according to her own schedule and never raises the rates."
"You do wax very philosophical, and maybe metaphorical with a touch of allegory added in, Boss," says Joey Bigears.
"That, Joey Bigears, is why I am the Boss," says I.
"But Boss," says Joey Bigears, "what do you say to those who say this has no point?
"Says I: "That is the point, Joey Bigears, that is the point. Any purpose beyond the basic purpose of making more like ourselves, is a purpose that we must invent. And, if we haven't fulfilled the basic purpose, all is for naught. Nothing else matters and is dust. We are the vehicles of the code, Mr. Bigears, and it speaks to us if we have ears to hear; no affront intended, Mr. Bigears."

FULLERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IN MORE HOT WATER
[Also, our comments on Costa Mesa's new police chief and more]
Did we mention that the Fullerton Police Officers Association PAC gave $1,000 to Costa Mesa First (that's Sandy Genis and Greg Ridge), back on October 26, 2010 in support of Measure L?
Measure L was the Costa Mesa, Transient Occupancy Rate Increase measure that proposed raising the hotel tax in Costa Mesa (not Fullerton) from 6% to 8%. Thanks (?) to the help from the Fullerton Police Officers Association PAC (Fullerton? What part of Costa Mesa is that?) the measure passed with 52.2% of the vote.
What's with these links between the Costa Mesa and the Fullerton Police Department?
As we reported previously, we discovered via our second Public Records Act Request that Fullerton's Police Chief, Michael Sellers--who is now on leave from the department and who is under pressure to quit over the Kelly Thomas beating death--was one of the people who helped Costa Mesa select Costa Mesa's new police chief in a secret interview process.
Our first Public Records Act Request for the names of those selecting the chief was refused by Costa Mesa on the grounds that if the public knew who was interviewing the chief prospects, while the interviews were going on, that this would in some way damage the process. (Hush, hush! Tell no one. No one can know. Shhhh!)
We say "secret" with tongue in cheek, because as we also previously reported, Greg Ridge (of Costa Mesa First, remember) let it slip in a comment in the Daily Pilot that one of the people doing the selecting was Kirk Bauermeister. Here's our article about this. [link fixed] Scroll down to 5th article.
So, to recap: The CM PRESS asked who was doing the interviewing while the interviewing process was going on and we were told to go pound sand because, don't you know, if we knew who the interviewers were, it might somehow screw up the process, but Greg Ridge apparently knew who at least one of the interviewers was; which we discovered after Ridge put the information in a comment that appeared in the Daily Pilot. Here's our article on this again. [link fixed] Scroll down to 5th article.
Where this all leads, we don't know. Maybe nowhere. But we think it interesting that the Fullerton cops gave money to pass a proposition that only impacts Costa Mesa and they did it by giving money to Greg Ridge and Sandy Genis who called themselves Costa Mesa First, and then Fullerton's Police Chief was pulled down here to Costa Mesa to interview our new police chief prospects (in secret), but Greg Ridge knew who at least one of the interviewers was.
Maybe it's all coincidence, but given the problems that the Fullerton PD is having with the Kelly Thomas beating death lawsuit and a new one that has been filed for other alleged misconduct, it may not be smart for Costa Mesa to be too closely linked with the Fullerton PD.
And, just to throw more in the bucket of things to think about; some in Costa Mesa have questions about Costa Mesa's new police chief Tom Gazsi (who Fullerton's beleaguered police chief helped select).
One of the most praised things about Gazsi from readers of the CM PRESS is that he actually lives in Costa Mesa. We concur that this is a good thing and it's something we've been pushing for many years.
However, we don't know anyone in the Improvement Community who knows Gazsi. The Improvers have been working for years on the Westside. Even though Gazsi lives on the Eastside, you would have thought some paths would have crossed at some time or another. But, this doesn't seem to have been the case.
Interestingly, as soon as Gazsi was named Costa Mesa's new police chief, a lefty blogger who constantly attacks the good Councilmembers sang Gazsi's praises and said he knows him.
Then, at her Town Hall Meeting last week, In God We Trust Wendy Leece (who lives in a gated community) praised Gazsi and let it be known that she has known him for many years.
Since Gazsi is also an ordained minister and an elder at the O.C. Harvest Church LINK, one is not surprised that God Fearing Wendy knows him. Still, given the praise of Gazsi, from these two antagonists (the lefty blogger and Wendy) of the good Councilmembers, one has to wonder if Gazsi is the right guy to help with improving the Westside--which is the most important problem facing Costa Mesa.
After all, is it unreasonable to think that an ordained minister, praised by lefties, might not want to help clean up the Westside, since to clean up the Westside means that the area has to become less of a safe harbor and public teat for illegal aliens and the gangs that have been spawned from their population?
Will we see the new chief--wearing a backwards collar and a badge--showing up over on Shalimar to feed and schmooze with suspected illegal aliens so long as they say the right born again Christian nostrums? We hope not.
Costa Mesa has not done a very good job in the past in selecting police chiefs. Let's hope that Gazsi breaks the mold and helps with improving the Westside.
As always, we'll be watching, reporting and commenting.
If you think we're getting anything wrong, let us know.

WENDY LEECE SAYS THE COUNCIL IS MOVING TOO FASTMany of the people we've talked to say the Council is moving too slowly and some even attribute that to having a lead weight in the form of Wendy Leece tied around the good Councilmembers' necks.
How long do we have to wait to get the Westside fixed, Wendy? Going at your speed it'll never get done. Wendy, you know what we mean about the Westside--the area outside of your Beverly Hills style gated community.
How long do we have to wait to cut the fat out of local government, Wendy? If you were in charge it would never get done and we'd probably be adding more lard each week.
We have to say it again. It pains us to have to take Wendy to task all the time, but she simply is failing to see what has to be done to fix Costa Mesa or is so blinded by all the financial and other support she got from the unions during the last election that she refuses to see reality.

Hey Westsiders, be sure to look at the prototype for a bumper sticker to promote your part of town.
The CM PRESS likes it, but we think the City should lose the bird and put in an artist or an artist's loft or something similar. Lots of artists on the Westside, but not many birds like the one pictured.

PACK OF BLACK GIRLS ROB STORE
But, read the above story and you won't see race mentioned.
Then, view the robbery video from the store and you'll see all Black girls.
Keep watching the video and you'll see that the TV station then focuses on interviewing or showing White girls and White teens. Do you suppose the intent is to have the casual observer think such crimes are equal opportunity employers, when that's really not the case at all?
Do you think the news is being manipulated to be PC?

As readers of the CM PRESS already know, those are all things that we've been saying that most of the haters and bigots who keep attacking the New Council aren't able to do.
Want an example of what we're talking about? Check out the comments from the haters and bigots after THIS article in the Daily Pilot about Mayor Monahan calling for a Brown Act investigation of Nick Berardino.
Do you see what we see? (REDACTED---Yes, as much as we'd like to write more, we're going to bite our tongue again.)

JEWISH GROUPS DEMANDING CENSORSHIP OF DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST THAT DON'T TAKE THE COMPANY LINE

Censoring discussions about the Holocaust are no different than the earlier censoring of discussions about whether or not the Earth is the center of the solar system.

GANG OF BLACK WOMEN IN UNPROVOKED ATTACK ON WHITE FEMALE PHILLY WORKER
As usual, you have to go to several different sources and watch some videos all the way through to even know this was another Black on White attack.
The PC press and many PC authorities try to cover up racist Black attacks on Whites. This often lulls Whites into a false sense of security and also into falsely thinking that violent crime is an equal opportunity employer.
If you're fed up with this double standard on reporting violent crime and racist attacks on Whites, demand your local cops and news sources publish all the relevant details and descriptions of the attackers and their victims.

UNIONS CAN BE FUNNY THINGS SOMETIMES (Based on true events)
There's lots of talk about unions in Costa Mesa lately.
Here's some more.
But, before I get to the main part of this opus, I want to thank my union for the residual check I just received. Without the union, I wouldn't have received it.
Yup. I'm a card carrying union member and have been for many years. So, let me bend your ear about my experience with unions.
Before coming to California to be a starving actor here, I was a starving actor in New York City and that's where I got my first taste of unions.
As was the case with most actors in New York, my acting jobs didn't pay the rent, and I needed a day job.
Although it's the actor's standby, I wasn't a very good waiter (the job requires a well developed Zygomaticus major), so I looked for day work in an office.
Then, just as I was considering becoming a Freegan (that's a Dumpsty Diver to most people), the New York Times offered me, and I accepted, a job at their HQ just off Times Square.
During the final steps of signing on with the Times, I was handed a bunch of the usual employee papers to sign. No problem. I quickly signed them. I liked being able to eat.
Then, I was handed some papers to sign to join a union. I said I didn't want to join the union. The Gray Lady smacked me around a little and told me that if I wanted the gig at the Times I had to join the union. I joined.
Life went on. I worked days and studied with Stella Adler at night and also did plays at night incuding one with Robert DeNiro, before he became ROBERT DENIRO. Today's his birthday, by the way. And, I still haven't gotten my clock back.
In time, the subject of union membership came up again. But, in a different way from my experience at the Times. You see, as an actor, I wanted to join the Screen Actors Guild.
But, when I asked SAG for the papers to sign to join, I was quickly shown the door after being told that I couldn't join SAG because I had just been doing stage plays and hadn't at that time appeared in a movie.
"Oh, okay, I get it," says I (being something of a quick study as we say in the biz). "If I just go do a movie, you guys at SAG will let me in your union. Great. I'll get right on it."
So, at the first opportunity, I went on a movie audition. Well, sort of. Actually, I couldn't even get past the front desk. "Can I see your SAG card, please," said the bored secretary with the Brooklyn accent. "Ah, no, I'm not in SAG yet. You see, once you people put me in your movie I can get it." "Sorry, you can't be in this movie unless you're a member of SAG. Next." I was quickly shown the door again.
You see the Catch 22 problem. You can't be in SAG unless you're in a movie and you can't be in a movie unless you're in SAG.
Finally, I learned about an open cattle call for another film that was about to shoot. The deal with open calls (cattle and otherwise) is that non-SAG actors can auditon. However, the director has to interview all the SAG actors who are right for the part before he can even look at non-SAG actors. If he doesn't like any of the SAG actors, he can then pick a non-SAG actor.
As it turns out, the director wanted me for the part. That's how I joined SAG.
So, if you ask me, I'll tell you that unions can be funny things. Sometimes when you don't want to join, you have to. Then, sometimes when you do want to join they won't let you.
But, my union experience story doesn't end just yet. There is a short Act III if you're still awake.
One day I saw in one of the Trades that a new union was forming for people who work in the biz. I went to their first meeting. The guy in charge wanted to know if anyone wanted to run for election for any of the offices that had to be filled. I checked off Secretary/Treasurer. I then forgot about it.
The election was held, and to my horror I was elected. I quickly sent in my resignation letter. I figured that any group of people who would elect unknown me as their Secretary/Treasurer must be crazy; or actors. But, I repeat myself (sorry Mr. Twain, but it is a good line).
Anyway, as I said before, unions can be funny things some times.
Oh, don't go yet. There's more. I told you at the top that this was an opus. You see, I wasn't a reporter at the Times, but I did later play one in a movie, so you know when you read the CM PRESS you're getting method reporting as taught by Stella Adler.
Say, did I mention that my first role as a reporter was when I played a radio reporter in a play in second grade in Boston? Well, let me tell you about that... "Hey, come back, where are you going? I haven't finished yet. What's that you say? I'm chewing up the scenery? Don't call you, you'll call me?"

OHIO BUSINESS OWNER TERRORIZED AND SHOT FOR BEING NON-UNION
News article from The Blaze

HAVE YOU NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE?
About three years ago, Costa Mesa's municipal government employed 611 people.
Today, that number is below 472 and it's still going down. Have you really, honestly, noticed any difference?
If you're like most responsible and productive Costa Mesans, you'll say that you don't notice any difference at all. Your life hasn't been affected one bit. You get up in the morning and you go to work. Your kids go to school. You mow your lawn. You go to the store. You live your life as the self-reliant and responsible person you've always been.
So, why was Costa Mesa's government so large?
Our City government (like most governments) has a lot of redundancy and a lot of empire building.
Over the years as money flowed into the government coffers, staff and their human rubber stamps on prior City Councils worked hard to build their empires by finding more "necessary" services to provide, not only to residents and citizens, but to non-residents, illegal aliens and people in other cities.
This built a lot of expensive fat into the system.
Now that Costa Mesa is on a diet and some of the empires are being cut back, those few who benefited from the phony necessary services are whining.
They want you to keep paying for "community gardens" used by a handful of people. They want you to pay for day care even if you don't have kids. They want you to pay for this and that and the other.
They want government to do just about everything for them.
Fortunately, we now have a responsible new City Council that does have this city on a diet.
And, this new City Council also seems to be getting its priorities straightened out so that the money that is spent falls more in the category of a fish hook that will let people feed themselves forever, rather than giving them a free fish that will feed them only for one day and cause them to come back the next day for another free fish.

LEECE: 'I SPENT UNDER $ 16,000 IN MY LAST ELECTION CAMPAIGN'That one statement from Wendy Leece at her town hall meeting last night sums up one of the problems with Wendy's world view: She doesn't mind telling half-truths and being slippery.
The $ 16,000 is just a partial truth. The whole truth is that the out of town unions spent many thousands of dollars more in printing up mailers and signs for her election. As we showed you in CM PRESS # 591, the unions spent more than $ 12,000 on just one mailing for Wendy, and that was just part of the thousands they spent on her behalf.
The failed out of town union strategy was to prop up Wendy and elect Chris McEvoy with positive mailings and signs while knocking off Jim Righeimer with a nasty campaign against him that included some cops pulling a disgusting A-Frame Sign around town behind a Cadillac Escalade.
What we're talking about with Wendy in this column is a lack of character.
At another point during the meeting last night, Wendy tried to again explain why the local GOP is angry at her.
Wendy's explanation? She was called before the GOP Central Committee and GOP Suit Scott Baugh told her that the GOP was concerned about the run-away pensions and that the GOP really needed her "third vote [on the Costa Mesa City Council in order to stop the run-away pensions in Costa Mesa.]" Wendy said she then told Baugh and the rest of the Central Committee that she was also "concerned about the pensions."
Now folks, if you read the above paragraph, wouldn't you believe that Wendy, who said that she was also "concerned about the pensions," would then vote against the pension giveaway? The GOP Central Committee also believed that. But, you see, they didn't count on Wendy's Clintonesque slippery two step in which she seems to say one thing but then does the other.
Wendy is like Bill Clinton in drag. "That depends on the definition of 'is.'"
Aren't you fed up with politicians who do this slippery crap? Don't you want politicians who keep their word? Don't you want politicians who tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
Switch now to Jim Righeimer who is called names by the haters and bigots who support Wendy. He clearly stated before the election what he wanted to do to fix broken Costa Mesa. Complete straight talk. No mincing of words. No slippery double meanings. And, once elected he started doing exactly what he said he would do. That, folks, is called character. That is called honesty.
There were about 50 people at the sparsely attended meeting. Most appeared to be local lefties.
Former CMPD chief Snowden was there and gave us a wave and a sour look as we took his photo.
Seen in the audience were many of the people who constantly show up at City Council meetings to complain about just about everything the good Councilmembers are doing to fix this city. This group included Sandy Genis, Robin Lefler, Cindy Brennerman, Billy Folsom, Jay Humphrey.
At a table in the rear of the room was a flier from "Costa Mesans for Responsible Government," telling us that City employees are all swell and contract employees aren't so swell. Yawn.
EVEN MORE...
A troubling note was sounded by Lt. Sharpnack of the CMPD who told the audience that the CMPD was going to print up fliers in Spanish to reach out to people who live in "south" Costa Mesa (he apparently meant the southern part of the Westside, i.e. the area from around 19th Street to the Newport Beach border).
Now, who needs to read fliers from the cops in Spanish? Right, illegal aliens. Did Sharpnack's comment indicate that the CMPD is still going to schmooze with suspected illegal aliens as it has in the past?
Folks, part of the reason the Westside is the bad side of town is because of all the illegal aliens there along with their supporting charities and lefty do-gooders. The area can't improve if it remains a Spanish speaking ghetto. That area of town has to join the rest of Costa Mesa as part of an American city.
Improvers are totally against Costa Mesa printing up fliers or signs in Spanish. Print them in English or don't print them at all. When in the U.S.A. do as the, er, USAians do.
Also in the audience were Jim Righeimer and Steve Mensinger along with some people from the Planning Commission and other agencies including Jim Fisler from Mesa Consolidated Water District.

At the October 26, 2010 Special City Council Meeting, Wendy Leece voted in favor of the out of town unions. LINK
The next day, on October 27, 2010, the Costa Mesa Police Officers Association IEC spent $ 12,122. 72 for a Mailer in support of Wendy Leece's election to the City Council. Click once on image below for larger image and click twice for larger still.
Tonight, August 15, 2011, Wendy is putting on a Town Hall meeting on "safety." LINK
Some observers believe that the meeting tonight is an attempt by Wendy and the unions to scare citizens into thinking that Costa Mesa isn't safe because the good Councilmembers have started right sizing our municipal government.
These observers also believe that Wendy and the unions will try to obtain E-mail addresses and other information to be used for election purposes and to be used to undercut the good Councilmembers.
By the way, and as we reported previously, 82% of Costa Mesa City employees don't live in Costa Mesa and can't vote here.
You've heard it a thousand times: Follow the money.
Do you find it interesting that money from out of town employees and their unions seems to lead to Wendy?
And do you find it interesting that Wendy then supports what the out of town employees and their unions want?
Wouldn't the citizens of Costa Mesa be better served by our politicians if the out of town employees and their unions stayed out of our politics and didn't try to elect people to the City Council who will then vote for higher salaries and benefits for these out of town employees?
Wouldn't it be nice if citizens of Costa Mesa trusted all of our politicians to vote and work in favor of the citizens of this city and not for out of towners?

OUR TONGUE IS GETTING NICKED A LOT AS WE CONSTANTLY HAVE TO BITE IT TO NOT TELL THOSE OPPOSED TO THE GOOD COUNCILMEMBERS WHAT THEY'RE DOING WRONGSometimes, we get like the kid in the third grade who knows the answers and jumps up and down in order to give the answer.
We really have to fight against that part of us (the inner academic) that wants to tell everyone what is so obvious to us.
Another part of us gets a lot of laughs out of the comments from the haters and bigots that appear after just about anything that appears in the Daily Pilot about Costa Mesa and what the New Council is doing to straighten out this city.
It was like this with us during the last election and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that (you get the picture),as the candidates we supported in Costa Mesa surprised the lefty establishment and won those elections.
And, to bring this into perspective, there were lots of belly laughs at the CM PRESS HQ over the way those trying to defeat Jim Righeimer screwed things up every time they did anything in the last election.
One major goof of the other side involved...(REDACTED). We told readers that we were going to wait until Righeimer won the election before we told you what the other side did wrong. But then, as you may remember, we... (REDACTED). After all, we have elections every two years.
At any rate, the hate comments that follow THIS ARTICLE in the DAILY PILOT, are cracking us up again.
You see all this space that we're devoting to this present column? It was going to be a column about how the other side is screwing up again and how Righeimer and Co. are doing exactly the right things and how they're right on track while the other side can't even see what is really going on as they get distracted and think the New Council is failing to do what it wants.
Instead, of putting up our original column, we're biting our tongue again.

EFFETE, PC BRITISH COPS UPSET THAT WHITES ARE PROTECTING THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS FROM BLACK RIOTERS IN GREAT BRITAIN
Of course it is White right-wingers doing the protecting. Duh!
You wouldn't expect White lefties to do anything but walk around with candles mouthing the usual stupid cliches and excuses for the Black rioters, would you?

UPDATE: BLACK WISCONSIN TEEN ADMITS HE WAS TARGETING WHITES
Cops may charge this one guy with a hate crime because of his admission. In truth, hundreds should be charged, but they just attacked Whites and didn't admit they attacked them because they were White.
This points up a problem with hate crime laws: They don't account for differences in human psychology.
Whites are often mouthy. They talk a lot. When angry or under stress, they call other people names. And, in calling other people names, they'll often, like a caricature artist, point out some easily identifiable feature.
Thus, if they're calling some non-White a name, it may be something about race. When Whites engage in this shouting and name calling it is often like a ritual battle that we see among some other animals such as elephant seals. It doesn't usually turn into violence. The psychological pressure is released by the ritual combat.
Other human groups often resort to violence with very little of the ritual of shouting and name calling. So, if non-Whites attack Whites, it is isn't always accompanied with racial epithets even if the White is attacked because he or she is white as was the case in Wisconsin.
Hundreds of Blacks attacked Whites in Wisconsin and the cops don't think there were any hate crimes.
Why? Not many of the Blacks used racial epithets. Instead, they just silently picked out White people to attack.
Of course, there is another dimension to this, because if hundreds of Whites had just attacked Blacks and even if the Whites were silent in their attacks, you know they'd still be charged with hate crimes. But, this is the double standard that we've come to expect in Third World America.
It's also what happens as the main stream media and some PC police departments rewrite history as it's happening to try to convince the people that violent crime is an equal opportunity employer. It isn't. Not by a long shot.
Here in Costa Mesa, you'll often see this as it's happening history rewriting in various public crime reports.
Race/ethnicity is often written out of such public reports unless the perps are White. And, when that's the case, the race of the perps is usually emphasized.
Winston Smith, where are you?

GOP MIDGETS SHOW NONE OF THEM HAVE THE RIGHT STUFF
The CM PRESS wasn't impressed with any of the GOP midgets who "debated" last night. Most were just plastic, mealy mouthed politicians saying the usual nonsense.
In our view, Ron Paul came across as the most genuine and the one with the best positions, but Paul lacks TV charisma and that will doom his candidacy. Like it or not, politics is often about style over substance.
Maybe Rick Perry will be better. We'd really like to see New Jersey Governor Chris Christie jump in.

"We'll hunt down these Black men, cut off their heads and feed them to our dogs," says one Muslim.
Meanwhile, effete PC White cops do little lest they offend anyone who isn't White.
