UPDATE TO BRUMBAUGH ARTICLE. Brumbaugh has posted a reply in the OCR, which we are posting here (we've cut and pasted it in the right reading order):

12:33 PM on June 22, 2010

This will be my only post but to be clear this picnic was not about illegal immigration it was about ALL people from CM gathering for a day of food, fun and to meet people from all over CM (the city was invited). People who attended have a common interest to make their neighborhoods safer and a better place to live in. People represented Halecrest/Hall of Fame, Mesa del Mar, Mesa Verde, Mesa North, Baker, Eastside CM and Shalimar, Maple and will tell you there was no political motive. I have met many people (White, Latino, Asian and more) over the last 2 years who expressed interest in wanting to rid their neighborhoods of negative elements.

If it is wrong to help neighbors make their communities safer and better, than I am guilty but don't make this picnic something it was not. I personally never said I condone "illegal immigration" and I have spoken to many Latino's who agree that wherever you live you must live by the law. So to be clear, this picnic was for ALL in CM to join for a day of food, fun and friendship.
------------------
THE CM PRESS COMMENTS: Notice how Brumbaugh weasels around in his reply and tries to be on both sides of the issue at the same time.

For example, Brumbaugh doesn't say that he's against illegal immigration or that he's for Costa Mesa being a rule of law city or that illegal aliens should be deported.

Instead, he says "I never personally said I condone 'illegal immigration...." What a weaselly way to say something.

So, Brumbaugh, maybe we have it wrong. Help us understand, by clearly answering these questions: Are you against illegal immigration? Should illegals be arrested in your neighborhood, and maybe even at your picnics, and be deported? Should Costa Mesa be a rule of law city? Are you in favor of amnesty? And, just to round things out, what do you think of Arizona's anti-illegal alien law?

Now, if you answer that you're against illegal immigration, for arresting illegals, for the rule of law city designation, not in favor of amnesty, and in favor of Arizona's anti-illegal law, then why are you seemingly trying to make suspected illegal aliens feel comfortable here in Costa Mesa? Hmmmmm?

Notice also how Brumbaugh tries to regularize illegal aliens as "neighbors" and how he ends with: "[T]his picnic was for ALL in CM to join for a day of food, fun and friendship."

We've seen this type of lib kumbayaism in CM before.

When the Westside Revitalization plans were being worked on, libs were constantly talking about including "stakeholders," in the process.

The stakeholders were, of course, illegal aliens and the libs wanted their opinions on the future of our city. But more than this, the libs wanted citizens to start seeing criminals who illegally came to this country as their pals and neighbors.

So, Brumbaugh has replaced "Stakeholders" with "neighbors," and "ALL in CM" and they're all invited to a picnic for a "day of food, fun and friendship." Swell.

Hey, Brumbaugh, are ICE agents welcome at your picnics?

You know how to contact us, Brumbaugh. If you think we've got this wrong, send us your message as a post. It's the neighborly thing to do.

Well, yes, but it's deeper than than that, and if you carefully read the above article and know a little about evolution and nature, you'll realize that the deeper reason the chimps are killing other chimps is so that their particular genes--in their colony or deme--expand, while the genes of other colonies or demes contract.

Gaining territory is just a step along the way as the genes of one group compete to be the only genes among chimps.

Link

Funny, most "sanctuary cities," such as Santa Ana, that whine against rule of law cities and Arizona's anti-illegal alien law are full of Latino gangs and gang violence that have a direct link to those cities being full of illegal aliens.

Santa Ana would be a complete basket case if it wasn't the county seat of Orange County and thus the home to many government buildings. Remove the government buildings from Santa Ana, and you have a city typical of Mexico's worst cities.

And, to think, there are some in Costa Mesa who want our city to be more like Santa Ana.

JEWISH POPULATION IN PRECIPITOUS DECLINE
Link

Newport Beach Rabbi writes in the Daily Pilot of the decline of American Jewry.

We'd put it this way: The present danger to Jews and to other distinct groups in the modern blender world is not from those who hate them, but from those who love them.

"Assimilation has ravaged American Jewry. The Jewish population is in precipitous decline and the commitment by young Jews to Judaism is attenuating. Only Orthodox Judaism fosters deep Jewish identities among a wide swath of its youth.
{snip}
"Liberal branches of Judaism are not holding on to their children, while Orthodoxy is expanding in numbers and intensity of commitment, featuring the highest birth rates, the lowest rates of intermarriage, and the greatest dedication to Jewish education.

"It is Orthodox Jews who will be the vanguard for transmitting an ancient heritage to coming generations."

GERMAN LEGISLATOR: STOP 'THRIVING HOLOCAUST INDUSTRY'

GRAND AYATOLLAH SISTANI DRIVING IRAQI GOV'T TALKS

We long ago said that the U.S. was making a big mistake in getting rid of Saddam Hussein.

Saddam was a secularist with Western ideas and he was the reason that Iraq hadn't become a radical Muslim state.

With Saddam gone, we predicted that Iraq would not long be ruled by the puppets that the U.S. was installing, and would end up as an Islamic state strongly opposed to the U.S.

If the above linked article is correct, our prediction is starting to come to pass.

Get ready for an Iraq that will have a government much like that of Iran--in fact, it will probably copy Iran's governmental infrastructure and will more than likely have an elected president and legislative body, but will be really ruled by religious clerics.

Saddam Hussein was a Sunni. The Grand Ayatollah Sistani is a Shia. Iran is Shia. Get ready for close cooperation between Iraq and Iran if our prediction comes true.

If the CM PRESS can think these things through, why can't our politicians in Washington do the same?

ISRAELI ULTRA-ORTHODOX JEWS IN JAIL AFTER PROTEST
Link

Surface story: They don't want to send their kids to school with the darker-skinned Jews who didn't originate in Eastern Europe.

Deeper story: The ultra-Orthodox Jews really, really believe in G d, and don't believe He's a do-your-own-thing-to-be-trendy G d. As a result, they try to follow all of G d's commandments, not just those that fit in with modern sensibilities.

Even deeper story: This is a story that is playing out in many lands and with many religions. It is a struggle between secularists (who often have a cafeteria approach to religion and a wink and nod view of God or no religion at all) and the orthodox religious believers in whatever religion is in question.

Deeper still: There is an attempt in the modern world to blend all religions, races and nations together. Groups that refuse the blending will always be at odds with those who have a different vision.

What's next: The secular government of Israel is trying to find some way to compromise with the ultra-Orthodox, but is finding it difficult because the latter don't believe that you can compromise with what they believe G d wants.

PROPONENTS FOR PROP. 8 MAKING SOME LOUSY ARGUMENTS AND GETTING ALL TANGLED UP
Link

We think they should have argued more from nature. Male and female are needed for the survival of the species and is nature's way for all mammals to accomplish this. That's the best argument.

Relationships that memorialize that fact and encourage procreation are thus beneficial to the species. Putting gay marriage on an equal footing with heterosexual marriage is anti-nature (for our species) and anti-procreation.

Unfortunately, the proponents of Prop. 8 are trying to thread the needle with too many threads. For example, they want to maintain a one man/one woman definition of marriage, but they also try to make a case (but weakly, if the linked article is any clue), as we did above, in favor of the procreation argument. These are really two issues and shouldn't be combined.

If it's procreation that is desired, then polygamy works better than one man/one woman, but the proponents are trying to avoid letting polygamy become a standard form of marriage and that's why they also emphasize one man/one woman.

And, it's with this that they start losing the argument.

As the proponents of Prop. 8 say that the one/one marriage is good for the children, those in favor of gay marriage chime in that they're also for one/one marriage and that the essential thing for the good of the children is this one/one relationship and that it doesn't matter if it is one male/one female or one male/one male, one female/one female or even one trans-gender/one transgender or any combination.

COSTA MESA CITY COUNCIL PUTS OFF DECISION ON BUDGET TO SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON JUNE 22

As we expected, at last night's City Council meeting there was some baby waving and appeals to emotion and talk about kids running wild if after school programs are taken off the public dole.

It appeared to us that the City Manager was trying to do the right thing and remove emotion from the process--which is what needs to happen.

The decisions to be made by the Council are all hard ones and they need to be made the way a business makes decisions. If the numbers don't work, they don't work. And, the numbers dictate the choices, not baby waving or emotional arguments.

LOUISIANA GOV. TAKES MATTERS INTO OWN HANDS
Link
Orders National Guard to build barriers against oil.

Hey, wait a minute, isn't that a Federal job?

Isn't Louisiana doing essentially the same thing that Arizona is doing?

Shouldn't the people of Louisiana just sit around and drown in oil because the Feds have the authority to do something? And, shouldn't the people of Az. sit around and drown in illegal aliens because the Feds have the authority to do something?

Get the point? You as an individual have the ultimate responsibility of taking care of yourself and making sure you are safe and can prosper as a free human being.

And, your city, county, state and nation as individual cities, counties, states and nation each have the primary authority to ensure the safety and well being of those who live in those places. Why? Because you as an individual have given them that authority to do certain things in your stead and for your benefit.

If those larger collective entities (city, state, etc.) do not use the authority you have given them, then you must act. You must take away that authority and do it yourself.

As we've written before, you can always delegate authority, but you can never delegate responsibility. For example, if an armed person is breaking into your home to harm you, you'll probably call the cops to whom you have delegated certain authority to protect you. However, if the cops don't arrive in time, you shouldn't just sit around and wait to be harmed. You have the responsibility for your own safety. This principle of personal responsibility then expands in ever increasing circles to include your family, your neighborhood, your city, etc. But, the principle remains the same.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT
Link to agenda.

The day laborer lawsuit against Costa Mesa, one of the two hot items on the agenda, will be discussed in closed session.

The only hint the public will get about whether or not Costa Mesa will use the recent appeals court decision in favor of Redondo Beach, to ask the court to throw out the suit against Costa Mesa, will come when the Council enters the chambers and the City Attorney is asked if the Council took any action.

The second hot item on the agenda is the City's budget.

Our guess is that anyone whose ox is being gored will be there to ask the Council to spare their particular ox.

Our further guess is that those getting free child care in after school programs--including Flopsy Katrina Foley--will ask that these programs not be cut.

In fact, we suspect that there's been an attempt by some to quietly organize a baby waving protest at the meeting during which we will hear that without these programs, "our kids" will all join gangs and terrorize the city. Ho hum.

The real problem that many citizens have with these programs is the belief that many suspected illegal aliens are using them so they can continue looking for day labor jobs while the citizens of the City watch their children.

In other words, the belief is that this is just one more magnet attracting illegal aliens to Costa Mesa and then making them comfortable here on the backs of citizens.

Well, kumbaya. Ah, the reason Dougherty is closing is precisely because it is a model of tolerance and diversity (translation: it's no longer White), you numbnuts.

The truth behind Dougherty closing is this: Whites moved away from the inner city where Dougherty is located. They were the reason Dougherty was a great school. Now, it's no longer a great school. Geez.

Too many know-nothings are running around the U.S. and spouting stupid cliches such as "diversity is our strength," or "we're a nation of immigrants," and similar Orwellian nonsense, and many in the press further these stupid cliches by writing long articles such as the one linked to above that dance all around the real reason why something is happening.

CALIFORNIA BECOMING HOLE-IN-THE-WALL STATE

Link to story about Hole-in-the-Wall Catalina.

Read the comments in the above link from local citizens on Catalina who support illegal aliens as an example of how illegallity flourishes and grows.

Actually, we've seen almost identical comments from "civic leaders" right here in Hole-in-the-Wall Costa Mesa.

Back in the early West, there were various towns that lived on criminality. The corrupt "upstanding citizens" of such towns supported leaving the local criminals alone.

When you read stories about Wyatt Earp and other early lawmen, what you're reading is the history of how a few people took on those towns that were safe havens for criminals and brought in law and order.

No doubt, the same arguments we're hearing now about how illegals and citizens are living together in various communities and that illegal aliens are our neighbors, our co-workers, our students, yada, yada, yada; were made back then about the criminals of that day.

Today, many sanctuary cities and those who support them are the modern equivalents of those hole-in-the-wall towns and the civic leaders of those towns.

And, those who are fighting against illegal aliens are the equivalents of Wyatt Earp and other early lawmen who brought law to lawless areas of this nation.
