According to Mr. Puckett, the PRC Commissioners are treated as independent contractors so the $100 per meeting that each is paid doesn't show up where you might be looking for salaries. They are not free volunteers.

Also, Mr. Puckett says they have 9 meetings a year, not 12.

In the Q&A that comprises our column, the A's are exactly what Mr. Puckett wrote us. We just cut and pasted and didn't rewrite anything.

Hope this helps.CM PRESSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1775587643142550810.post-22981934187720277072009-07-01T21:04:51.669-07:002009-07-01T21:04:51.669-07:00PR has 5 commissioners, so the city pays $500 a me...PR has 5 commissioners, so the city pays $500 a meeting to the commissioners. Assuming 12 meetings a year, the city pays the commissioners a total of $6000 per year.

My understanding is that the commissioners do not get paid, their position is volunteer.

I'm not sure your article is at all accurate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
