LOCAL AND ABOVE THE FOLD...

AS PROMISED, HERE'S OUR RECIPE FOR HALAL-CART STYLE RICE

1 1/2 c Basmati rice--Trader Joes *
2 1/2 c Chicken broth--Trader Joes, from free range chickens
2 T. unsalted butter--We've used Trader Joes, but reviews say Land O Lakes has a better taste.
1/2 t. turmeric
1/4 t. ground cumin
1/8 t. ground annatto seeds (can be left out--it's mostly for color)
1/8 t salt (more if desired)
1/8 t ground black pepper (more if desired)

PROCEDURE

Melt butter over low heat in pot on stove top
Add the turmeric and cumin and cook until fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute
Add uncooked rice and stir to thoroughly coat
Cook rice, stirring frequently until the rice is slightly toasted, about 3-5 minutes
Add chicken broth and season with salt and pepper
Bring heat to a boil
Cover pot, reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes
Remove pot from heat and let rest until the broth is fully absorbed and rice is tender, about 15 minutes.

*Long grain white rice also works, but the final result won't be as fluffy and delicate and won't have as complex a flavor profile. The Basmati rice is key.

CMPD REFUSES CM PRESS REQUEST FOR INFO ON THE ATTACK AND BEATING THAT LEFT A MAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION IN NORTH COSTA MESA

After we saw this article HERE about the attack that left a man in critical condition just off Baker Street near Bear, we wanted to know if this was some sort of bias crime and other details so we could let people in the area know if they might also become targets.

 In other words, what are the characteristics of the victim?  What is his race/ethnicity?  Was he gay? Why was he attacked?  What description is there of the attackers. We also let Mr. Hatch know that we think the CMPD Crime report on line is a waste of time and money and that this attack wasn't even shown there.

We sent our request to City CEO Tom Hatch, but didn't get a reply from Mr. Hatch who apparently sent our request to CMPD Chief Sharpnack and here's Sharpnack's reply which tells us nothing:

At this point, while we cannot be 100% certain, we believe the assault was a random incident.  Furthermore, at this time, we have minimal suspect information to pursue.  I understand your interest and agree that the community certainly does have a right to crime related information.  We are a community oriented policing department and value partnerships with community members not only for quality of life issues, but for preventing and solving crimes as well.  However, there is a delicate balance in providing public information while protecting the integrity of active investigations and upholding the rights of the victims and arrestees.  Lastly, I see no value in releasing the victim’s description.  This is not our practice in this type of incident, nor the practice of any other law enforcement agency.       

Please know that our crime map is a work in progress.  My goal is to secure a more user friendly offering available to the public by the first quarter of 2016.

Emphasis added by CM PRESS: "Random incident"?  What the hell does that mean?  Three unidentified  men on Baker Street see some unknown (?) man walking and beat him so bad that he's in the hospital in critical condition and it was just random?

THERE IS ALWAYS A MOTIVE FOR EVERY CRIME.  There was some reason they attacked this man.  Could you or your loved ones be the next victims of a "random incident?" Do you share some characteristic in common with this victim that might have these attackers target you next?

And then, the Chief writes this: Lastly, I see no value in releasing the victim’s description.  This is not our practice in this type of incident, nor the practice of any other law enforcement agency.  

Huh?  That's nonsense.    Police departments release vitims' descriptions all the time along with the descriptions of perps.  This is one way to show some sort of bias crime.

Meanwhile cuckservatives like weak-assed preppy Jeb Bush say it's not possible to deport 12 million people.  No it's not.  It is very easy.  Twelve million got here, and twelve million can leave here.  Once the wall is in place and we have the political will and have police enforce our immigration laws, 12 million will be leaving even faster than when they broke our laws to get here.

Jeb Bush is turning the Bush family tree Brown and he should be running for office in Mexico where his heart is.
