Public policy of the City of Costa Mesa is to implement the Westside Plans.
The Westside Plans were voted on and approved by the Planning Commission and the City Council after many hundreds of hours of work by citizens and City Staff.
The Westside Plans encourage and aid in the development of downscale neighborhoods.
This requires old buildings--residential and commercial--to be removed and replaced with new ones--mostly residential.
To make this attractive and financially possible, private sector developers have to be allowed to replace the old, smaller buildings either with more buildings and/or larger buildings on the same lots.
These are facts.
Now, some of the anti-Improvers are circulating a petition, HERE, that they variously call a slow-growth or smart growth initiative that will kill the Westside Plans.
To counter this move against public policy, the City should be publishing and distributing persuasive arguments against the initiative and for the continuation of the Westside Plans.
It is the PIO's job to write those persuasive arguments.
Will we be seeing persuasive arguments from the PIO?

UPDATE ON THE JESSICA CHAMBERS CASE
Jessica Chambers was the teen White girl who was burned alive about 8 months ago.
It's hard to tell from the above report whether they really are getting close to naming her killer or whether they're just putting this out in the hopes that her killer will run and thus implicate himself or herself.
We'll try to stay on top of this and will let you know if we learn anything.
