COSTA MESA...

SWEET CHARITY & THE MAGNET EFFECT RIGHT HERE IN COSTA MESA

We were just looking at some tax forms for non-profits and wondered how many people actually know much about them.

One non-profit we looked at took in about $8 million last year and spent almost 60% of that on salaries and benefits for a small handful of people who work at the non-profit.

And, at the same time, this non-profit was attracting people to Costa Mesa from all over the area who want the freebies. And, no doubt some of these people will then stay here to be near the non-profit and others like it.

Sweet...if you are a boss or bosses at some of these non-profits, you not only get salaries and benefits that are up in the $ 200,000 per year range, you also get job security--so long as you keep attracting needy people here--and you get thought of as being compassionate and kind, and you may even get praised by civic leaders as though you're a new Mother Teresa.

So, if you wonder why Costa Mesa has so many needy people, consider the magnet effect.  We live in a cause and effect universe.
