AGENDA FOR THE JULY 24 CHARTER COMMITTEE MEETING
As we've written before, it looks to us as though this charter committee is moving too slowly.
Take a look at the above agenda and see what you think. Does it look as though the committee is still just going around in circles instead of getting down to business?
Our suggestion: We think the committee should, right at this meeting, be given actual charters from as many cities as they choose--six, ten, ninety--it doesn't matter, and the committee members should then do what intelligent people (and lawyers) do to come up with a new document--study the different charters, find things they like, and cut and paste. No one reinvents the wheel. We all build on what went before.
