WHAT IS A FATHER?

A father of our species is a male who has contributed 23 of his chromosomes to the 23 chromosomes of his female mate to produce a new child who will have 46 chromosomes containing approximately 20,000 genes that are made up of approximately 3.1 billion combinations of the four chemicals of DNA that are abbreviated as A,T,C,G. These 46 chromosomes with their genes are the blueprint for making a human being.

 It is the male of our species who contributes most of the mutations that are necessary to ensure that our form of life can adjust to ever changing conditions, and it is for this reason that a healthy male produces new sperm every day up until the time of his death of old age.

Each spermatozoa produced, carries 23 chromosomes of the father.  The sperm change with relatively minor changes in the external and internal environments of the male, and just a few degrees of temperature difference in the external environment will cause the male sperm to change as the genetic code he carries tinkers to adjust to the new temperature. The tinkering is often in the form of mutations.

The female of our species gets her eggs all at once and at a fairly early age. They do not change under normal circumstances.  The eggs are thus cast in stone so to speak and this provides stability to our species so that the changes that may be made by the sperm, do not happen too fast during temporary changes in world conditions--such as, and just to continue with the example above--temporary temperature changes.

Because of a father and a mother, our species will continue on, and if the male and female have mated wisely, following the dictates of nature to make more like yourself,  the particular genetic code that makes the mother and father part of a particular people will also carry on.  Like with like is the way.
