TWO MORE SHOOTINGS IN SANCTUARY ANA

If some have their way, Costa Mesa will become just like Santa Ana.

WHICH SIDE OF THE FENCE ARE YOU ON?
[This was forwarded to the CM PRESS by a reader]

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

Well, I forwarded it.

HOLE-IN-THE WALL
Link

UPDATE 6/25/10: The Pilot has corrected the title.

The Daily Pilot was kind enough to publish another of our opinon pieces, and you can read it at the above link.

Unfortunately, our title that we submitted with the column was shortened to:

"Costa Mesa a hole-in-the-wall city."

The actual title that we sent over to the Pilot was "Costa Mesa should avoid being a hole-in-the-wall city."

Sometimes three little words can make a big difference.

We're not complaining, but we did want readers to know that we don't think Costa Mesa is a hole-in-the-wall city...yet, and a close reading of the column will also let you know our true feelings about this.

Anyway, we understand why the Pilot cut out those three words. Our original title was just too long. If we submit something else in the future, we'll try to be less verbose.

LA CITY COUNCIL VOTES TO CONTINUE DOING BUSINESS WITH AZ--CONCERNING RED LIGHT CAMERAS
Link

Loopy LA City Council was foolish to ever vote to boycott AZ. The simple fact is that many businesses that used to be in California or which deal extensively with California are located in Arizona because the cost of doing business there is less.

IS THERE A NEST OF COWARDLY HATERS AND BIGOTS IN HALECREST?

After we wrote about Parks and Recreation Commissioner Mike Brumbaugh (that's Brumbaugh in the photo), as featured in a column by Yvette Cabrera in the OC Register, some hate comments from someone calling himself "Gigante" started appearing in the Register.

Gigante praised Brumbaugh and tried to smear us. He said something about leaflets about us left on his car.

There were also comments from a guy calling himself "hanginnbangin," that were similar.

"hanginnbangin," also wrote about us "sneeking" (sic) around the picnic. Actually, we didn't even know about the picnic until we read about it, after the fact, in Cabrera's column, and we were nowhere near Halecrest on that day. And, we never sneek.

Funny thing about this, Halecrest was also the neighborhood where hate leaflets about the guy who runs the OC Fairgrounds were spread. You may recall reading about that in the DAILY PILOT.

So, Brumbaugh, exactly what is going on in your neighborhood? And, why are haters and bigots seemingly being attracted to your events?

Brumbaugh, if you decide to send us an answer, how about also answering our questions about your position on Costa Mesa being a rule of law city and the improvement of Costa Mesa?

You see, Brumbaugh, even though you pretend your social events aren't about politics, you know they really do have a political tinge, especially in this election year.

And, we know that you like being in politics, Brumbaugh, because we saw you beg the Council to not do away with the Parks and Recreation Commission. Maybe you have higher political aspirations and want to use the PRC as your stepping stone? Or maybe you want to help a candidate who supports your positions about illegal aliens, etc.?

As a public official being paid by the citizens of Costa Mesa, Brumbaugh, you owe it to citizens to clearly give your views on this city and on illegal aliens. After all, you are making decisions on the PRC that affect all of us.

  1. CM Press, Did you see that Mexico is part of the lawsuit against the State of Arizona. Yes, Mexico, the country! They cause Arizona's problems and can't control their drug violence yet they want to prevent Arizona from protecting its livliehood. Ridiculous.
