WHEN YOU FEED THE PIGEONS YOU JUST GET MORE PIGEONS YEAR AFTER YEAR
All living organisms gravitate to where they're comfortable.
Illegal aliens have gravitated to Costa Mesa because there are some who give them free food, free medical care, free dental care, help with paying their utility bills, and much, much more.
This misplaced compassion for illegal aliens is harming the citizens of Costa Mesa.

ARTICLE ABOUT PROPOSED MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FIGHTING VEHICLE

The CM PRESS OPINION: Based on what we read in this article, and elsewhere, and from our own experience in the Marines, our view is that this thing will be an easy target and is too slow.

Form follows function. The engineers are giving up too much in order to make the EFV suitable both for ocean landings and also for use far from the ocean.

What they've ended up with, again, in our opinion, is a vehicle that is a compromise that is not a good boat, nor a good land fighting vehicle.

They should forget about the ocean landings and concentrate on a proper land vehicle.

Future Marine insertions probably won't involve storming beaches full of hostiles. The beaches will already be cleared by air power and the Marine vehicles will start from dry land.

What is needed is a fast, low profile vehicle that will carry a Marine squad and which can be dry-landed on beaches, inserted by planes, or driven in on land far from the ocean.

What's really going on here is that the Marines are trying to head off any calls to cut back the Corps or reduce its funding by distinguishing the Corps from the Army by pushing the Marines' traditional storming the beaches role. We think this is a mistake. The Marines should distinguish themselves by being a lightning fast insertion force even if there is no ocean nearby.
