Unfortunately, and as pointed out recently by some suits in government, such training may be a waste of money since these days Marines are fighting far from oceans, and the probability that such ocean landings will be needed again are fairly slim.
It's also been pointed out that the Army is starting to look more like the Marines and the Marines are starting to look more like the Army in the operations they're involved in.
Our view is that if the Marines are going to continue to exist, they're going to have to cut back the size of the Corps and specialize more in special ops and lightning insertions of shock troops from the air.
After all, we don't need two Armies. The regular Army does a good job with traditional large troop tactics.
