GENERAL MOTORS DECLARES BANKRUPTCY

It may not help. The U.S. must re-industrialize.
The U.S. economy is an upside down pyramid with the few people actually making things at the point of the pyramid at the bottom and all the middlemen and paper pushers above. It's an unstable system.

Will Costa Mesa citizens do the same?

  1. Costa Mesa has a strong industrial base that in the past you have suggested be replaced with a higher and better use of their property. Industrial business owners and employees offer thanks for your support of new industry.

  2. The problem in Costa Mesa is that much of our industrial is on the best land in the city--the Westside Bluffs--and is helping keep that part of the city as slum central. Many of us have suggested over the years that we need to allow an evolution of the Bluffs. This is being accomplished with the overlays which will allow the insertion of appropriate housing units (lofts, etc.)into industrial areas. This should be a plus for all concerned.

  3. I wouldn't be so quick to offer thanks. This overlay zone will gentrify the Westside at the cost of our industrial area.

  4. As a resident of the West Side, Costa Mesa I welcome change. Take a drive through the industrial parks and the first thing you’ll notice is the over powering smell of melting plastics and chemicals. A lot of which are also carsonagenic. Remember the epoxy fire? These industrial parks are surrounded by homes and families raising children. This is not what these kids need to be breathing or playing around.
